Considering that loot is instanced, it does seem like a stupid decision. They actually confirmed that that's how it works?

I guess it's done to stop groups from exploiting the drops.

If it wasn't implemented, couldn't people then drag along a 4th party member exclusively decked out in Magic Find gear just to loot rares all the time? If one player has, say 350% magic find, he'd be looting rares all over the place, with every elite dropping good stuff to distribute among the party while the rest actually gets to wear proper gear for fast killing.

At least now, if you want to benefit from extreme magic find in inferno, you either have to play solo with shitty gear, or have the entire party stack MF, which is also not really viable.

Which is dumb since my friends are just using shit like 2 thorns damage and 3exp/kill instead.
Educate your friends.

Okay, I guess I understand that.

Torchlight 2 should be great, there's no such thing as too many good loot/dungeon hacks, keep 'em comin', this year is awesome.

I really hope so since I have already pre-ordered. It is going to be hard not to compare everything about the game to D3 and feel somewhat disappointed.

Diablo 3 for me is a rare game that does so much right and just feels so damn good. It is hard for me to find anything wrong gameplay wise with D3. The only thing I can complain about with D3 is the online only BS other than that I feel the game is perfect.

Achievement Restorations
Customer Support cannot award or alter achievements in Diablo III. If an achievement is not awarded and you feel that it should be, please attempt the achievement’s criteria again.
Yes Blizzard, I will just level a barbarian to 60 again because I didn't get my 60 achievement last time. Thanks Blizzard, keep doing great games!

"Diablo 3 fastest-selling PC game ever, biggest PC game launch in history"

The game sold over 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours on sale. That eye-watering number does not include the 1.2 million players who received Diablo 3 as part of the World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion. In total, over 4.7 million were playing the action RPG day one, making it the biggest PC game launch in history.

Now we're a week in, over 6.3 million are playing. This figure does not include players in Korean Internet game rooms, where Diablo 3 is the top-played game, Blizzard said. In these game rooms, Diablo 3 has a 39 per cent share as of 22nd May.

Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime said he was delighted with the game's early success, but apologised for the server issues that left thousands unable to play the game.

"We're definitely thrilled that so many people around the world were excited to pick up their copy of Diablo 3 and jump in the moment it went live," he said.

"We also regret that our preparations were not enough to ensure everyone had a seamless experience when they did so. I want to reaffirm our commitment to make sure the millions of Diablo 3 players out there have a great experience with the game moving forward, and I also want to thank them for their ongoing support."

He added: "Regarding today's announcement, we recognise that setting a new launch record is a big achievement. However, we're especially proud of the gameplay feedback we've received from players worldwide. We're pleased that Diablo 3 has lived up to players' high expectations, and we're looking forward to welcoming more players into Sanctuary in the days ahead."

For US retail giant GameStop, the release of Diablo 3 was "one of our biggest PC launches ever". It broke the record for the most pre-ordered PC game of all-time on Amazon.com, and beat the record for best day-one sales for any PC game ever on the digital shop.

Oh, I'm not expecting Diablo III out of it, but a colorful sidestep to Diablo II is where my hopes lie.

I just wish they'd have applied a few more modernizations based on what I've read from the beta, I can live with the skill trees, it's just the little things. Not really the thread to discuss it though.

Or, stop caring about pointless virtual achievements, lol? :D
(Edit: just kidding, Blizzard will patch that soon, imho. They do not want that feature being broken ,especially now.)

Stay classy.

I'm only going through hell, but I feel like they could have made the average mobs stronger. Everything seems trivial besides champion packs with specific mods.

I just pop my hydras and sit there most of the time.

I don't really see why smoke screen apparently was so good. I never used it personally (vault ftw). But it lasts only 2 seconds and cost 14 discipline. So you can not really use it that often.

From what I gather, the thing that makes it good is that it apparently breaks cc and such? But they're not changing that, so it hardly seems like it matters imo.

I used it, and it really was that good man. 3 second runed, and if you had enough discipline you could get 3 casts of it off. Thats 9 seconds plus the mobs maybe 1 second of travel time to you, and there is Preparation with the 30% rune that (given a little luck) could allow you to do that 2 or 3 times in a row.

What seems like it would only be 9 seconds of invulnerability could easily turn into 18 to 26 seconds or so of invulnerability on a high dps class like the Demon Hunter. I cannot tell you how valuable that is in inferno, especially when there are 2 DH in the party doing the same thing. Those elite trash packs that are hard to kill suddenly become much more manageable.

Look at this for a bit of a taste of how effective chaining it could be with preparation procs:

This needed to be nerfed, no doubt about it. I just dont like the way they did it. Its not an effective enough nerf.

But you'd get the achievement for two level 60 barbs too!
Well there's an achievement that requires you to level two monks to 60. Fun, huh?

Disappointed with D3, for me :)

Diablo III is amazing, guys, sorry.

The only thing it needs is a revamped highend itemset, something that will happen SOON, I almost bet you on this one.

Eh, they'd need to do more than just revamp stats for highend stuff.

But yes, the only thing that really need changing atm is items.

If it were up to me this is what needs to be changed:

Droprates. Like seriously, I've played this game over 90 hours now, got a character in act 2 of inferno, as well as 2 alts, and I've yet to see a single set or legendary drop. I know droprates for those things are supposed to be low, but come on man, this is pretty ridiculous.

low level set items. There's hardly any set items below level 60. By the time you were done with act 1 in diablo 2, you could potentially equip probably at least 10 different sets. In diablo 3 there's only something like 3 sets total for 1-60.

Legendary/Set only affixes. Special affixes are part of what made the special items in diablo 2 just that, special. Right now they're just mediocre rares with a few set affixes. They lack interesting affixes like they had in d2.

Make legendary and set items worthwhile. While a few people apparently like the status quo in regards to where items are. Most people can agree that right now there isn't much point in using legendary and set items. The best way to fix this imo, would be to nerf magic items slighty, so their affixes can't be quite as high as rares. Keep rares as they are. But bring legendaries up to snuff, so that legendary and set items in most cases are the best choice, but still so that an exceptionally great roll on a rare can be better.

If they do this, I think diablo 3 will be a success longterm like d2 was. If they don't I think people will quickly become bored with the game, since it would be a loot based game with loot that isn't exciting to find or use.

Considering that loot is instanced, it does seem like a stupid decision. They actually confirmed that that's how it works?

It makes sense at the large scale (e.g., not one player at 300% sharing loot with the rest) but it makes smaller amounts of MF% not worth it at all. It's all or nothing, really. Not sure why it's just 50%/33%/25%, though; at least incentivize it to 60%/42%/35% of each player or something so it's possible to "average out" to a higher MF% than if you were soloing.

OK so now I see the DH nerf for SS...wow. So that 3 second lingering fog is now like halved =\ lame. I only really used it to get out of tight situations but still.

Trickster: I disagree with loot findings: the CRAP loots - literally, SWIMMING IN CRAP - is part of Diablo legacy at this point, and you would get bored almost instantly with even a slight buff in that regards. Also, with Nephalem Valor, the issue goes away by a large margin. And that is before considering additional +MF gear.

So I'm still getting the inexplicable stuttering that I've seen since beta. The same stuttering that is NOT present in Torchlight 2 or Path of Exile.

I was thinking that everyone was getting these frame drops but most people didn't notice or didn't care. Yesterday, I showed my issue to someone I trust when it comes to this stuff and he instantly noticed the problem. It doesn't happen on his own computer either.

So I'm getting annoyed at Blizzard now since this has been happening for months and no fix is in sight despite their claims that everything was fine in the retail build. I'd like a refund, honestly.

This issue was present with me with 200+ms latency, it goes away with sub-150ms latency.

Any other Witch Doctors want to enlighten me with their builds? I have a Spirit build which I love running with. The problem with it though, and it's a big one, is that I have no AOE to speak of. This isn't so much of a problem while I'm grouped with AOE-capable friends (which is most of the time), but while trying to solo I find I can get easily overrun by mass amounts of trash mobs.

Plus, I kind of want to play something different.

For the past two nights I've been trying to come up with a different build - some pets, frogs, spiders - but nothing really seems to work well. My Spirit-heavy build had such a great symmetry to it. Everything sort of fit. These other builds I'm trying feel clumsy. i.e. running out of mana, pets not doing what they're supposed to be, etc...

I tried so hard to love the frogs - any of them - but they all seem to suck. Three frogs that random hop around just doesn't cut it in the later difficulties. Giant toad, while completely awesome, has poor decision making abilities and seems useless against elites.

Bats are pretty good. I tried Dire bats a lot, but sort of ran into the same problem as with the frogs - they tend to miss their target. They're effective for shooting into large groups of enemies, but if I'm facing large groups I can think of better skills than Dire bats.

So here's my Spirit build:
Spirit Barrage - mana return
Haunt - life return
Horrify - increase radius
Spirit Walk - 3 seconds
Soul Harvest - 60 seconds
Garg - 15 second beast

Passives - 30% mana return from Spirit spells, 2 second cooldown reduction, 15% mana cost in life.

Anybody have an effective build that deviates greatly from this? It's a great build with amazing single-target DPS and almost no mana issues, but I just want to try something new. And as much as I love it, I'd like to get away from Soul Harvest. Feels like a crutch at this point.

Yeah, we had that nerf coming because of the ways it could be abused, I just really wish they had left it at the same duration and slapped a cooldown on it instead. This nerf makes it so brief that it doesnt really get me out of a tight situation anymore. I popped a runed SS while already moving out of a desecration pool and didnt get out before it faded and still died. I mean goddamn... it IS my 'oh shit' button, but they are nearly eviscerating its ability to periodically bail me out of those with such a short duration.

Is there a list of hotfixes they just did somewhere? What's been nerfed?

Off-hand, Monk's Boon of Protection (Absorbs 15% Life OR the amount it heals over 3s, whichever comes first), Demon Hunter Smokescreen (1s duration, 1.5s runed, 3s cooldown), and I think Wizard Force Armor? Not sure on the last one.

Let me guess, did you call me some names? Let us bring it on! :P
I just called you an amateur, because I like you :3

My characters for now:

FemBarb, tank
UVcia.jpg
FemSorc, survivability

MaleMonk, garbage

Yeah I don't even see the point in it anymore tbh.

Firebomb - first rune that makes firebombs jump to adjacent targets
Locust Swarm - first rune that doubles the propagation or mana return
Spirit Walk - Mana return or 3 seconds
Soul Harvest - Life return or 60 seconds
Big Bad Voodoo - 30% extra damage
Gargantuan - second rune that makes for a more powerful guargantuan

Passives - 20% extra damage with 30% extra mana cost, 10% health and spirit walk when you would die, 20% less damage taken

Single target can be a bit lacking, but Firebomb does well enough even for that. It's a very safe spell to use with that rune since it jumps to the nearest enemy, meaning you can hit enemies that are just barely off screen with it off the first jump. Mana is a non issue as long as you're not spamming locusts.

I just got my DH two ~300 DPS Bows so I could SS my way through Hell and start Inferno Gold farming.

Figures these changes come after the night I don't play my Monk or DH and instead get a Wizard to Hell.

Lag and reduced SS active time make it just useless. Even dodging icebombs gets unreliable. I'll miss casting SS before teleporting to avoid instant load/lag death.
