Maybe I'm crazy but I fucking loved vanilla Diablo 3. I loved how hard it was and how 1 bad move could completely fuck you. I also didn't like how 1 server hiccup also could completely fuck you lmao. I know the auction house was very contreversial but I do miss the AH Meta of finding a super rare ring or xbow and listing it and making MILLIONS of gold so you can buy a killer wep for whatever class you were playing. I put in about 1000 hours into vanilla and then of course put in another 500 or so into the 'fixed' version of Diablo 3. I still liked it, can't hate. I hope this is just as addicting as every other Diablo.

All I remember about vanilla D3 was Act 2 being impossible in Nightmare (?) even while Act 1 was a cake walk. The gear/difficulty balancing was all over the place. I bounced off it and came back once they ditched the real money AH and balanced things out. I love the console versions of D3.

This whole disconnecting and requeue business is scaring me. It's 2 hours wait on PC.
I think the game will meet people expectations in many ways, but it didn't feel particularly innovative. Just a fresh coat of paint without much new in terms of mechanics or gameplay.

Played for 2 or so hours before getting kicked out - Here are quick impressions so far after rolling a Hardcore Barbarian on World Tier II and dying at level 7 (I always traditionally play Hardcore in these games)

- Amazing atmosphere
- Love the dark, bloody and horrific violence
- Combat feels great, but a lot more methodical and and slower paced than Diablo 3.
- I like the fact that there are way less spells and clutter going on the screen compared to D3. D3 had too much crap on the screen
- Voice acting is fantastic
- Barbarian feels very slow and super weak in the early levels
- Story is a lot more interesting than I thought it be.
the chapel cut-scene was awesome and hard to watch at same time. The twist where you get drugged by cultists to be taken away and sacrified was awesome!

- Feels amazing and easy to play on the PS5. Game looked great!

- The game does NOT look like Diablo 3 to whoever said that.

- Overall, so far so good! Can't wait to hop back in and try other classes!

It’s impossible to judge this game on the early game. Low level content in ARPGs is always garbage time. All that matters are the end game activities along with the builds and how they evolve.

Are they bringing runewords back? I think I read set gear won’t be available until season 1. It’s going to be a while before we can really see how good/bad the game is. If the expand upon what they did with Diablo 3 it should be pretty good. No one wants to click trash mobs for 30 seconds in the end game…

Depends if you're an endgame person. I usually spend more time in story and trying different classes than grinding endgame. So having a consistently good and engaging loop is important all the way through. I understand people who are going to play this for years and focus on min maxing may not care as much because they just rush to the max level anyhow.

People mentioning PoE next to this greatness.....lmfao! That game feels like an early 2000s game. Janky with no weight to it. Even Grim Dawn shits on it.

Anyway, I am in heaven(hell?) With D4. I was only kicked out once early on. Level 13 rogue. I got side tracked and did several dungeons, cellars, rescue missions, etc. Now back to the main quest. I want my mount.

Diablo 2 is one of my top 3 games all time. Started playing Diablo 1. Diablo 3 day one to current has been terrible. Can't judge a game by a few hrs. But I am playing assassin and it feels almost the same as the bow class in D3. This game feels nothing like Diablo 2 besides the name Diablo. This is not a different Diablo game either. This is a new Diablo 3. That is not a good thing. Can tell the same devs that made D3 made this game.

Will for sure give it more time. I pre order the $100 version. If I had to make a decision two hrs in on buying the game I would pick the refund. I rather play D2r or PoE. I can not stand Diablo 3 in any shape or form.

You might as well get your refund right now

So, I figured out it doesn't boot me until I am through the queue so I have the XSX waiting in it while I play the PC version. Once I get booted I'll now it's time to switch. Nice little hack to try the console version without having to wait to play.

Edit: first treasure gob and he dropped a legendary. 24% faster primary skills is so nice.

Maybe this is me not being a hardcore Path of Exile player or even a ARPG crazed person , but I like this game? I've seen a few small minority shout that this is just a mobile game with higher quality textures, and they're wrong? This game feels like the old Diablo 1-2 era game. Where everything was brutal and dark, it's a got a bit of edge to it, but I'm enjoying it. The story doesn't seem disconnected from the gameplay, and your character actually speaks . There's effort in the cutscenes, and the combat is enjoyable.
People bitched and moaned about the cartoony look of 3 and I gotta say 4 is a big step up in terms of graphics and music / atmosphere. My only gripe is the online only aspect, but on the flip side I enjoy the world events, and the dungeons are short and sweet.

Lvl 16 sorcceres here.
I don't remember diablo 3 beeing so tough/dangerous as a sorccerer.

So far I am having lots of fun.
I love the new art/design. Way better then D3.

Need to go to sleep now though (i'm from germany) gonna finish the content with my first char tomorrow and maybe even a 2nd run as rogue.

It's dangerous as a rogue also. I've died several times. Still getting used to the skills and combat roll. It's a blast though!

Got in after a 1 hour que. Played for a half hour, tried messing with the video settings (turned on HDR) and game crashed as soon as I tried to apply new settings. Waited in a 45 min que, played for about 2 hours, got to level 8 or so and opened up the world. Then I pressed I for inventory I guess while a quest was loading, crashed the game, now a 2 hour que and I have to go to work.

Game is going to be a complete shit show for 2 days at launch just like Diablo 3, but I bet it will clear up after that. No need for a refund like so many are spouting. Or just you know, wait a week into release before buying.

Game seems great! I soloed a random event and it was actually challenging and fun!

How do you get access? I'm stuck at login. This is so frustrating.
You just wait as far as I know. I was in a 60 minute queue, got in, and played without issue. But they're actively working on the queue situation, so surely there will be some bumps here and there.

Played for about an hour and a half and I'm really enjoying what I'm playing. Looked very nice, and ran really nice. Scrolled through settings a bit, but didn't hang around too much because I wanted to get as much time in as possible. I personally feel like some people are being overly harsh, but I'm not surprised, besides that's criticism nowadays. Not sure if people were legitimately expecting it to play like D1 or 2, it was never meant to. That team is long gone. So it feeling familiar with 3, or even Immortal, shouldn't be too shocking. But at least it LOOKS more like 1/2, which I'm all about, personally. I enjoyed D3 quite a bit, especially after Reaper of Souls, and what I'm feeling here, feels like it could hit just as good for me, if not even better.

Does it feature any better side quest than the terrible shit in Diablo III?

I hope they got rid of the stuff where some person stands next to a road or in the city, asking you to "kill this and this monster" like some fetch quest.

Is Blizzard not letting people log back in after playing for a set time? I can even get the Q screen to cone up. The breaking news menu says the devs are "managing the influx of players" so I'm wondering if that's it....

Weird. I had no issues besides the 30 min wait switching from PC to XSX. I can confirm that the brightness is borked on Xbox. I can't get it to look how it looked on PC which was much darker. It won't let me turn HDR off. There are way less graphics settings on console. I hope they fix this.

On a good note. Since the XSX is more powerful than my PC the overall graphics are better and I get zero stutters. Also the controller combat is ace. I might prefer it even after 10k hours if D3 on PC.

Queue said 90 mins and ended up getting in a hour later. Had fun and really like what I played so far. Made it to level 6 pretty quick. Feel really over powered. Got some nice gear and barely had to even use potions. Left most of them sitting around.

Evolved1

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
This is my main issue with modern games and some of these monetization schemes... so many modern games launch before they should and the early access or whatever they're selling is always compromised. This is just a beta, so whatever. But when they do the real launch I'll be fuckin shocked if the early access even works. I literally have not been able to get in at all today, to even see the game. That's pretty rough. And I work for the rest of these two beta periods. I'm not mad, because I 100% expected this to be a total shitshow. But lol I did expect to at least *see* the game yikes.

Lvl 19 rogue..... And I gotta say I'm kinda underwhelmed. It's been around five hours and the gameplay is already getting stale for me. I don't see noteworthy progress over the grandfather D2 besides the graphics and some QoL changes. Feels like I've played this game several times already.
And boy is the UI a clusterfuck....

Level 20 sorcerer, stopped playing an will play though again with the necromancer next weekend.
Difficulty feels about the same as III, some really broken skill combos that will probably be nerfed by release.
Playing on PC with M&KB.
Music is meh, otherwise sound design is pretty good.
Other then missing bits of dialogue, voice acting is okay.
Gameplay is okay, i'm not sold on how they are doing skill trees yet, (like a bastard son of d3 and d2).
Open world so far is more like open paths, but unless you want another Sacred, its fine.

Didn't realize you can equip elixirs to the action wheel until a few minutes ago! I really enjoy the versatility of the rogue and the combination of melee and range. Good stuff!

PoE is in a class of its own and D4 is just the most iterative game in the genre so far. I thought it would be Devilian with a Diablo skin, and its exactly that. Also there's huge balancing issues atm, notably the soul damage. Not to mention the "no sets at release" and no runes lol. And the level scaling

so far its getting good feedback because its called Diablo, if it was another name attached to it it wouldn't be nearly the same reception

Nah, it's getting great feedback because it feels like a quality game unlike that janky Indy game. It also is beautiful. We don't know anything about the end game yet so let's hold off on how balanced it is. These days the more popular the name the more critical people are not the opposite. Being called Diablo just makes it have more to prove. If this was from a small dev like GGG was when PoE came out people would be flipping their shit. I look forward to PoE 2, I hope it feels like a modern game.

Anyway, I got my tv calibrated to make this look amazing in the XSX. I think I can hold off for longer on a PC upgrade.

Welp I'm level 23 Rogue now and I'm just kinda bored.

I'm a lvl 14 rogue and feel the same, but I specifically picked a rogue for beta knowing that it was the class that interested me the least. If I'm going to have my progress reset, it'll be with a character I couldn't care less about.

Poison Trap is kind of fun though.

The animations and skills are right in line with Diablo 3. Nobody says current Diablo 3 is a bad game. Its just not even close to as good as D2 and its never been considered one of the better ARPG's. This is a modern day Diablo 3 mixed with more open world and current WoW. It will be a 8/10 game. Its not as good as Diablo 2 but then no games have ever been. Its not better than PoE and PoE 2 should continue to be king of ARPG's.

The Devs are the ones that kept saying Diablo 4 will be allot more like Diablo 2. I am just saying its nothing like it in any shape or form. When you play the game it feels right on track with Diablo 3. From visuals, skills, loot, UI. Its better and deeper but still not deep enough.

Stop this blasphemy. If you want arcade go play with a peasant controller.

Yeah because clicking around takes so much more skill.

I don’t use controller for anything unless I’m absolutely forced to, but click to move is tedious as hell.

EDIT: Not being able to aim in one direction while moving in another is what especially bothers me.

I watched a ziziran video today, and he put it perfectly. It doesn't need to compete with poe. It can be a companion to poe. Poe is for the tryhards and d4 is for the casuals. The perfect scenario would be 2 months of poe and one of d4.

Is HDR working on consoles? I get the HDR option on PC but there is no option on PS5 and PS5 HDR is always on by default system level so I'm not sure if it's enabled in game but it sure seems dark. Feels a lot brighter on my PC.

Every time I start to get in the groove it's back to the excessively long queue. You'd think they'd have shit kinda okay for people that had to pay to be here and save the stressed out server tests for the free for all open beta.
