Loving the game but leveling seems fucking pointless…

Anyone here else agrees?

I agree. Leveling from 1-50 is a tutorial. The game doesn't fully open up until 50 when you're able to spec against the paragon board. Hit 50 last night.

That world boss seemed under tuned.

Didn't even come close to dying in WT3 while below boss level.

random squad wiped him in less than 5 minutes. I miss Ashavas swipes clearing groups in the beta lol

Disagree. That's like saying leveling in World of Warcraft is boring or meaningless. It's not about the destination, it's about the journey and the memories. Me and my friend been leveling our hardcore toons and already created and now have amazing memories. If this game started at level 100 it would be extremely boring, had less content and you wouldn't learn anything.

What an awful take. Don't play RPGs of you don't like leveling. It's part of the design and the RPG genre.

The sarcastic part now -

Yeah leveling is totally useless, it's not like you gain a talent point every level and become more powerful and gain stats. It's not like your making progression and learning anything about your class and how it plays. /s

Yes, it feels like pointless busywork and I still don’t feel like I’m getting stronger even though I’m rocking several legendaries.

I also really dislike the resource generator / resource spender system they’ve been using since Diablo 3. Being resource starved in the early game makes everything feel clunky. No bueno.

I guess it’s the abilities. It never feels like I’m getting stronger.
I think that’s the experience for a lot of people unfortunately. My Bonespear Necro feels the same, mostly because I run out of resource after 2-3 casts and I have to rely on CDs or my resource generator to gain it back which doesn’t feel good to play.

Go look up character builds and synergies. Plenty of reslurces out there. Icy Veins and Maxroll.gg have good builds broken into tiers for each toon.

Legendaries are meant to synergies your build, don't rely on then as just a stat stick. There plenty of legendaries out there that are actually useless for your builds/character, but better for others. Not every legendary you get instantly means that you will do more damage.

Given this game is very MMO like I don't think leveling is useless. Teaches you the class as you progress. If you just boost to 50 or level cap you will just be overwhelmed and not know what your class does.

Only advantage I see to being at level cap is if you already know your build and want all your AP points immediately.

I think some of the classes like Sorcerer have an easier time at the beginning while Barbarian and Druid are late bloomers and become absolutely ridiculous.

It becomes a case of not having your toolkit and all your toys.

After leveling it's going come down to having good gear and modifiers.

Probably going to run Blight Necro. Seems like the most engaging DoT caster to me.

Grim Harvest with Corpse Explosion can generate essence fast to bring Bone Spear back up very quickly assuming there’s bodies available since some bosses can be a bit economical with their minions.

100% agreed the scaling fucking sucks..
Maybe endgame will change it..

Orange items hand you a boost but it’s not the same.. hence i rush the story..
but sadly enough it does have level caps in prgress.. so i did only mainline quests to finish campaign. And at a certain point i suddenly needed to level 7 levels to progress..
that really sucked imo
I hadn’t hit that yet and up until act 5 I was just doing story and events along the way.

Yep. I’m aware. If density is high I will shred everything without issue. It’s the smaller elite packs and boss fights when things start to feel clunky.

Much like Diablo 3 a lot of builds won’t play right until you reach the end game. I just wish the journey getting there wasn’t so tedious.

Yup that is exactly what I’m experiencing. Maybe I’ll just keep plugging along on Rogue.

If your resource management is imbalanced you need better synergies. Look up a lvling guide if need be. The right combination can make all the difference. I'm personally having a great time lvling, opening up more abilities/skills that complement each other.

Anyone getting long queues to log in? I’m on PC. I’m wondering if it’s because I haven’t fully downloaded the game yet or if if the servers are actually just packed. I created my character and hit finish then got hit with a 4 minute wait time. That finished now it just says queued for game- start game pending…

Edit: never mind. Finally got in after about 5 minutes.

I think we won’t recognize most of diablo 4 in 3 years.. kinda like d3
Is that good? Because in the case of D3 it was actually.
Also wasn't there said there will be Raytracing? I don't see any RT features.

Made it up to level 26 with my Druid build and just wasn't feeling it. I guess I just didn't enjoy being a big, slow bear a lot of the time, as much as I wanted to. I decided to try out Barbarian to compare, and I'm liking it much more. Everything just feels much more visceral and fluid, starting with the basic attacks. Also noticing I can take out bosses much more quickly early on...and whirlwind against mobs feels like a cheat code. Already at level 20 with it - I think I'll be sticking with this one.

Does poison work well on bosses?
I am not sure because I don't really see it from his perspective, but it does add a significant amount of damage over-time. Poison creeper really works well on big AoE groups and Elite Mobs. The poison helps in boss fights when adds come to you, you can just ignore them because they get poisoned to death and focus down boss instead.

Those playing rogue, what's the feeling between shadow imbuement and poison trap. I just switched to shadow imbuement and while the explosion is fun I feel poison gives more dots on an enemy and spreads more.

Glad you enjoy the barb. I still enjoy my druid but already have the 'i want to start another character syndrome' I have in any MMO/arpg lol

I was stuck at start game pending, cancelled and it was 39 mins afterwards.

24 mins left, hopefully will get in. Will no longer get out of the game if I need to do something
