FBC: Firebreak |OT| Take control. Save the Bureau.

The deal-breaker for me is requiring three players. If this would allow me and my son to play with an AI bot that wasn't terrible, or if I could press a button to switch to controlling that AI character when needed, or if it would just scale in such a way you could play it with two people, I would be inclined to check this out. My son and I just don't like having to play with strangers.

I am still excited for the next Control game. I hope Remedy got their costs for this covered by MS and Sony. I'd hate for this to be a financial drag on their single-player games.
You can still play on easy

Dead on arrival, no-one gives a shit about a GAAS game based on the Control universe.
I mean it's kind of shitty that we don't give any other multiplayer games a chance outside of the well established ones, but yeah, you're 100% right. This will likely have very little interest.

Its launching into PS+ and all tiers of gamepass. Why they just didn't make it full free to play is beyond me.
Couldn't have got the cash for the PS+ and GP deals otherwise.

Yes. Very old build that didn't play well. They did the testing for the matchmaking
As a prolific beta tester for games, i have found that most often games that are not fun to play in closed alpha or beta, launch as not fun to play.

Normally they launch a train wreck and are either abandoned or take years to be set right. In this case I suspect its going to be a game thats worth the money in 2+ years for £10.

For those who are getting it as part of PS+ or gamepass, its free why not give it a shot. But for everyone else... this seems like a big miss

Who would even recognize this as being related to Control? Why was this created? Like, if it has launched with Control or near it, I would maybe understand.

Don't really get the negativity tbh. As far as I know it's their first foray into this sort of thing and if anything Remedy have always been masters of gameplay, at least Control definitely was. Not sure why we're writing this off before having even played it.

I mean if it ends up sucking then by all means, neg it into oblivion. I for one am glad we're getting more from these devs and the the fact that it's a co-op shooter is all good by me.

This game seems such a waste of resources from a pretty lean studio.

Remedy operate on typically tight budgets, and relatively slim margins, often their games aren't immediately profitable and become so in long tail.

This very obvious misallocation of resources could quite easily wipe out the profits from their last two games combined.

I love remedy, but I'll be pissed if this wrecks Sam lakes ability to execute on his vision for his single player connected universe stuff.

I played it and sadly the core gameplay, the gunplay sucks. It was a big surprise coming from remedy, because their gunplay usually on point. Gonna give it another try tomorrow to see if its improved or not

You're really not sure why most people are writing this one off?

Anyways this is the first Remedy game I've never even had the tiniest bit of interest in.

Ah that's a bummer then. Control had really tight gunplay so it'd be weird if they somehow veered away from that in favour of something lesser somehow. We'll all find out soon enough I suppose.

Good days man. Have you lot tried Back 4 Blood?
Yeah and I can see why people dislike it but I ended up playing it more than the L4D games. Yes the details might all be wrong or lacking but it makes my endorphins go brrr. There's simply more 'game' in there.

i will be there day one with game pass. i'm still optimistic about this game. could be fun even if in a niche way

Man... their Discord is full of shills defending the fact that you can't even pre-order (or rather that no price is available before launch or the ability to pre-load) and that there are zero reviews from any reputable outlets. Somehow spinning it into a good thing that "reviews aren't available before release" lol.

Honestly the no preorders is a good thing, like when has it ever not been? Admittedly it does mean no preload and the rest in concerning. But like iv never heard a game just being sold at launch day and only at launch day as a negative before.

Feels like a lack of faith in their own product? Same goes for the review embargo.

I feel this could be down to them wanting reviews done when the servers are up vs like... just a closed game journalists playing with journalists before launch as a multiplayer title.

But I think its more likely they just dont have much content and want to hide that, yeah. Im expecting 7's for this one, it feels like redfall all over again.

The fact its day 1 PS+ and Gamepass for me cements they dont expect many people to buy it, but want to sell it...

It's not a good thing that reviews aren't available before release, but no pre-orders for this title doesn't benefit the developer, it benefits the customer. This is going to be included on PS Plus Extra and GamePass. Sony and MS might not even let games on those platforms have pre-orders, as it would lead to lots of people mistakenly buying a game that they're about to be able to play for free.

I loved L4D with my mates - but honestly no other game has come close to scratching that itch for us.

I'd suggest Warhammer: Vermintide 2 or Warhammer: Darktide. Both are really good, IMO.

Is this not going to be available on PC Game Pass? I just noticed it's not on the "coming to Game Pass" list and not preloadable

Edit: Found a Remedy tweet that says it will be on PC Game Pass but it still hasn't shown up in the Xbox app. Guess it'll show up later

Edit2: It's up on PC Game Pass now.

Darktide is good now? I see it on sale regularly but I remember how badly received the launch was.

Wait for the next update where they add a new class and jump in.

I was in the closed test for this game and i must say... I wasn't very impressed, it has interesting ideas but alot of the game scales to be spongy for difficulty, which turns me off.

just simply making enemies have more health and do more damage is not going to help replayability. That's why L4D's director system was so important to that games fun.

You should probably check out some PS5 release window videos or search "Darktide 2025" on you tube. It's had a lot added to it.

Watching some gameplay at work now on twitch and it looks... perfectly serviceable? A lot better than most co-op/horde shooters in any case.

Darktide is worth people's time for sure, I would wait until next week though as anouther huge update lands June 23rd for it. Adds a 5th paid class, but more importantly rejigs the story and early game experience to be better for newcomers (apparently) if thats true, then that would be the right time to start.
