FBC: Firebreak |OT| Take control. Save the Bureau.

Bummer, I'd like to see Remedy do well.

The action parts of their games have been pretty crap forever, from where I stand as a non-gamedeveloper, I'm surprised that they don't realise it needs fixing.

Maybe a lot of their development time is spent asking themselves "Can we get away with this? Will Stephen King sue?"

controller yes, as i said the other weapons feels much better, smg sucks.
Ah yes. The controller gameplay for this game seems ass. Even in the promo stuff it looks super jerky and imprecise so no wonder you think the gunplay is bad. Still, sucks that they did not provide proper controller mechanics and what not.

Its actually not. There are a lot of good controller options in this game you've never seen in past remedy games. SMG just felt like a peegun. Revolver and shotgun feels good

From two matches it feels like an asset flip and barely touches the strengths of the studio while highlighting Remedy's weaknesses.

I don't think this game will survive.

I dunno, the only footage I have seen pre-release was of controller gameplay and everyone looked like they were aiming past their targets and kept shooting the shotgun immediately after reloading, indicating input lag. It does not seem anywhere on the level of something like CoD or Fortnite in terms of responsiveness.

But obviously I have not played with a controller myself so you'll be the better judge. It looked off in any case.

It was probably bad settings and player. There is deadzone settings too, feels good at 5

Played like an hour with a friend. First impression was bad with the smg, but once you unlock more and better guns, perks and abilities imo it gets much better. Its decent fun so far

Now i want to try it on pc. Game crashes left and right, cant even fullscreen. I love 5000 nvidia gpus man. Last driver was a month ago

We don't want to see Remedy do well making a first person multiplayer/gaas game. Hopefully this fails quickly so they can dedicate more resources to their other noteworthy franchises

Played 30 mins, didint like it, uninstalled, this is all what i have to say.

I'd personally be happy to see them do whatever they feel like. But I wish that whatever they turn their hand to keeps the thing they do really well - story, tone, mood, etc. etc. And improves the action. Both Control and all 3 Alan Wake games have had excellent settings, but the action parts of the game have been pretty poor, IMO.

Hoping this will be an Outlast Trials situation where we just get heaps of content over time with big improvements to the game itself as well. Fingers crossed.

Aaaaand it's a dud.

It'll be less than 25eurodollaroos next month. And even less after that. Hope they can turn this around but I don't have high hopes. Such a shame as I was rooting for it as well but I guess I'll take my money and save it for Rematch instead (which is out this week).

This game seems such a waste of resources from a pretty lean studio.

Remedy operate on typically tight budgets, and relatively slim margins, often their games aren't immediately profitable and become so in long tail.

This very obvious misallocation of resources could quite easily wipe out the profits from their last two games combined.
They only slight silver lining I can hope for from this is that they've stuck their 'Sweet baby' part of the department on it to pacify them while they get on with the adult business..

Give em something to do without being moaned at :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Is there a story / lore reason for that weird junkyard aesthetics of the characters?

EDIT: oh I get it, maybe Ghostbusters vibe?

I just refunded, the gunplay was immediately bad, there is like zero fucking feel to it, everything lacks impact. movement is floaty its hard to describe how bad it feels to actually play, like im not even there. I gave it a shot, why not? but im sure as hell not sticking around. going to play a fishing game from the steam fish fest.

This is horrible. There goes our weekend plan

Speaking of fish fest, give cast n chill a look

I usually don't because they're a bunch of cunts but, they're saying its rushed and not enough content.
I dont see how its rushed. There are 5 maps with 3 different clearance levels so the higher you go the more objective you need to do, there are 4 difficulty levels, modifiers, bunch of perks, skills, weapons to unlock. I mean im playing it on game pass so i didnt pay for it, but its nowhere near as bad as the steam reviews. People with 0.3 hours saying it lacks conent like come on now... I get when people dont like multiplayer games, but i think this is another case of "lets collectively shit on this game together"

On Steam, this game is already trending down in player count.
From a peak of 1992 players, down to 1,467.
This thing is DOA.

Anyone playing on pc? I cant set my resolution to 1440p and when i go fullscreen it crashes. I can only select some weird resolution number thats like 90% of 1440

mine worked fine, unfortunately steams refund just went through so cant check now, but I didn't have any issues with the game running, although I was on borderless window so...

Weird... i can select 1080p or lower, but no 1440p in borderless and i cant go fullscreen

I just played it for a bit and it feels amateurish. One of the level objectives is destroying paper notes? Really? I know these types of games don't have super complex objectives a lot of the time but that's just uninspired. I get that the notes are probably linked to the paranormal in the Control universe but come on... They need to make something more interesting and engaging than that.

Yikes, how embarrassing! I had zero interest in Remedy's off-brand Backrooms/SCP game myself, but failing this hard?
Maybe they overestimated the value of the franchise.

They joined the circus on a smaller scale and ended up with their own gaas failure. Now they need to get back on track and resume making singleplayer titles.
