Yeah, got it. The longer they leave it and the more they send stuff like this out, the more I think Revolution will be its final name.

I think Nintendo marketing have made an excellent choice by not releasing any specs. I'm a technical minded person so seeing inferior specs could have killed my interest buteven though I've never been a big Nintendo fan but I'm honestly 10x more interested and hyped about the Revolution than the PS3, mostly because of that silly remote controller. Eagerly waiting. I may buy a second console for the first time ever.

So maybe blach is going to be the color then? They still call is rev hm... I don't recall them sending out mail saying "Project dolphin is for you".

Cool, the original video :)

Reverse gyration spotted:
-The fishing man, pulls harder than expected
-Sword fighter 'stopped' in mid air
-the shooter, the gun has recoil

Would be too cool if reverse gyration was in.

I had a vision about the Revolution recently. It's official name was the Nintendo Legacy. It's slogan was Old School/New School.

And then did you Angel, Wesley and Fred run off to save the world?

I think it's pretty clear that Revolution is the final name, even the console has the name on it again.

Really? That's good news. I've grown used to calling that.

they are actors, i'm pretty sure they weren't playing any games during the shoot of that video.

Utterly pathetic. Instead of giving us some more details or news that could respond to the Xbox 360, Nintendo tells us to wait until E3. Wait. People are tired of waiting for Nintendo.

To this day I still don't see why Nintendo couldn't show off the controller at E3 2005. After seeing the controller, does anyone here actually think MS or Sony are crazy enough to "steal" that idea? If Nintendo truly believed MS and Sony weren't competition, they wouldn't be so secretive about the system's unique features.

Why can't they reveal the system's true name? Why can't they give us some small details on the online service or the Virtual Console? It makes no sense.

I seriously think it isnt because they are "hiding anything" major, so much as none of it is simply FINISHED yet.

I'm willing to bet thats why we didnt get a controller at E3 - it was still only a concept at that point.

We got it at TGS beaucse thats simply when it was presentable enough - and why no develoment really started for Rev prior to that, and why no third parties had actual seen it.

Can't have any leaks if you don't have anything to see!

Also with the specs, I believe that article someone psoted earlier saying IBM is just finishing up the chips now. And "showing it to Nintendo." Can't release specs if you don't have them yet, ya know?

They are just really far behind schedule - or even on schedule, but their own timeline - maybe they really ARENT trying to compete with Ps3/360 and are simply going at their own pace.

No games to show because really, nothing is ready. We dont even know actual development has started yet. I mean, we all thought SSB has been in the works for months - According to Iwata at E3, it had been.

But we just find out yesterday development is JUST beginning to start?
They probably have absolutely NOTIHNG to show us at this point - thats the reason we haven't seen aynthing. I'm willing to bet the same for the Crystal Chronicles, Metroid, etc games they "announced" at E3 also. That stupid GameCube demo of M3 was probably, really, all they had.

Nintendo is just trying to spin all this into one big mystery, when it simply boils down to they have an empty head, not a loaded deck. Yet.

Things being dry on the news front ensures the feeling that its big news when it does come. I find it annoying too, cos I'd love to know everything about it... but I think it will work.

They could've shown us at least some screens or a trailer of Metroid Prime 3, which should be in development for a year now (Retro went right to work with 3 after 2). Or just reveal more details about the game in general (will it be going more to the first-person shooter side?).

It's a shame for a lot of us they're so secretive, but we'll get our info (and games) eventuelly. I can wait.

Quoted for truth. As incredible it seems, every new tidbit seems to confirm this.

I said a while ago that Nintendo doesn't have any real roadmap. Rather, they work based on a tacit common understanding of direction, and have some common thoughts ("We need to do something different"). Then, based on a rough direction, they start to brainstorm stuff that either makes it or doesn't. This is why bizarre, unpredictable and occasionally brilliantly innovative things come out of Nintendo. It's also why they are unable to say anything substantial about their future developments. They announce them once they are done. Before that, they are clueless (case in point: Super Mario 64 2).

It's interesting how they can get their act together and have such good technical hardware desgins as they do. Like the gamecube for example. I think a lot of people underestimate their technical know how. I wonder if they didn't scale it up enough, DS hardware was available really late.

I agree that the controller was not ready at e3.

is this old?

Which kind of storage medium do you think the Revolution is going to use? Since I've read great things about Sony's Blu-Ray disc.
Richard, 16

The Revolution will initially use a proprietary disc standard developed between Nintendo and Panasonic. It uses 12 gig capacity discs. However, with a hardware attachment planned, it is quite possible more DVD standards will be supported in the future.

No, it's been confirmed for near a year now that the discs will be of higher capacity than standard discs. Probably for piracy/propietary reasons.

So I guess the story that Nintendo pulled most of their revolution stuff off the E3 conferences is not true and they never had much to show anyway? =\

I'm beginning to think rev will be out very late 2006 in japan and spring 2007 in US/Europe. And what's the point of a 'revolutionary' controller if they don't have awesome games for it? Dammit it feels like EAD is just working on cooking games and rev brain training. :(

A little over 5 months until E3. *sigh*

12GB disks? WTF? This is utterly new to me.

The complete opposite to that is the actual truth.

Actually it is old, I created a thread a few days ago.

So higher capacity the 360 discs?

i wouldn't be surprised if they used propriety discs. Not necessary to 1up the X360, but more of an anti-privacy safeguard.

Why would they need larger discs than the X360 if no Revolution game will have textures higher than 640x480 resolution? Hmm, well better safe than sorry I guess but it seems a bit overkill, especially for Nintendo who'se always gone with small formats.

Link?

hmm, if I'm a gamer with the latest and the greatest in video and audio who wants to partake in the cutting-edge games that take full advantage of high-definition sound and visuals, is Revolution still for me?

for all this talk about being an "and" company, Nintendo sure is cutting corners hoping the future slows down for them...
