Did DC ever explain why Kryptonians look so human like?

He's makes it out all right though, right? Batman wouldn't go down that easy.

He basically crawled through the history of the Wayne family and made his way back. Return of Bruce Wayne is well worth reading, even if it is a bit confusing. During that time, Dick Grayson was Batman.

Read Final Crisis. It's fucking awesome. Seriously.

Is this it? There's this and like a $60 hard cover edition, which, fuck that.

I don't really like crossovers, which is what keeps me from reading a lot of monthly comics. I can handle Batman and Superman running into each other on occasion, but for the most part I like my heroes existing in their own solo universes.

the point of the marvel and DC universes is that none of them exist in their own solo universes, and significant events that affect all of them happen in crossovers and other books all the time. Batman: Inc. came about explicitly because Batman was sent spiraling through time by Darkseid in final crisis.

That's a novelization. You want this.

I'm guessing fighting through time to get back to the present would make one a pretty huge badass.

I still like to pretend they exist by themselves. My brain doesn't like the idea of multiple superheroes....even though it is somehow all right with multiple villains.

Well, it's batman. Some of the things they have batman do in JLA to justify his existence there (because let's be honest, having no powers against universal threats is a pretty big handicap) are just unbelievable.

lmfao. so true.

Which is why I don't read many comics. I've mostly read graphic novels. I have read some Justice League stuff and enjoyed it. But, if I'm going into a Batman story, I want Batman, not Superman or Wonder Woman. I loved Ultimate Spider-Man (until they ran it into the ground). But, I hated how he was constantly running into the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Just my personal preference.

Read the Nu52's Batman. It's pretty amazing.

It's a superhero comic book, those aren't noted for their great logic. Especially superman, this is a guy who apparently could sneeze and destroy planets. There are probably more inconsistencies and things that don't make sense about such characters than things that do.

You don't read graphic novels you read collected editions of serialized comics. A graphic novel is something like underwater welder or fun home. Don't try to denigrate comics by saying you only read GRAPHIC NOVELS.

That hasn't been true since the 1970s. The "pre-crisis" superman had a lot of abilities (time travel, super hypnotism) that have been edited out of canon for obvious reasons.

How does he "crawl back through the Wayne history"? He gets sent back in time and wills his consciousness back to his own timeline? Wat?

No, he's largely just a long for the ride through much of it. Every time there's an eclipse in the timeline that he is currently in, he gets thrown to the next one. The whole thing is an elaborate Plan B by Darkseid.

You should just read it.

LOL. Calm down. I didn't say I only read graphic novels, I said mostly, followed by saying I loved Ultimate Spider-Man. So it's obviously not a hard-line stance I have. I'm not sure if it's correct terminology, but I've always called the collections of monthly comics trade paper-backs and stand alone stories or a collection of a mini-series (like Watchmen) a graphic novel.

Regardless, even in the trades, you are still mostly getting a single story line. Which is why I stick to that. It's like a movie, I kind of know what the setting and characters are going to be. So I can skip shit I don't care about.

One of these days. I need to catch up on Batman and Robin. I read the first arc and really liked it. I didn't expect to like Damian since he sounds pretty stupid on paper. But, I really liked him.

And Darkseid's omega sanction sends him back in time at the same time. Final Crisis is pretty god damn awesome.

Co-signed. Final Crisis is a bit of a mind fuck, but an awesome read nonetheless.

More on topic, I have always wished DC would come up with some grand explaination for Krytonians and Humans (among others) looking the same. There's the potential there for a great story.

Here's a question. The Kryptonians were obviously very advanced, they could send their children across the universe to another planet when the shit hit the fan. How did they not have multiple other planets colonized? Even if Krypton blew up shouldn't there haven been thousands, if not millions, of other Kryptonians out in the galaxy?

Or why not have the ability to evacuate the planet ;)

The same reason every alien in Star Trek is human but with different ridges on their forehead.

Actually Star Trek explains this. In the past there was only one sentient species in the galaxy and they seeded the galaxy with life and set up the conditions and DNA to ensure that most of them would look very similar and require similar conditions to live so that they would be able to meet and hang out and not feel alone.

Or why not have the ability to evacuate the planet ;)

multiple reasons. noone believed jor el, brainiac made it that noone would believe jor el, or kryptonians were bound to krypton thanks to eradicator

If it was marvel they would have said Celestials did it.

damn celestials. thats a fucking excuse for a lot of bullshit

People don't realize that Kryptonians were extremely arrogant people that thought they were the smartest people in the universe and that there is no way Jor-El would figure out something before the higher ups and Brainiac.

But the reason they really look alike is because they're on a TV show budget. The explanation was just hanged a lantern on it.

Fucking comics...

are great.

Didn't read it. Howso?

Grayson is just a s good a fighter, acrobat, detective, leader and has fun doing it.
and has worked with all the other heroes and isn't an ass.

plenty of non-powered heroes have been in the JLA. everyone has something to bring to the table. ever seen plastic man in the JLA? he was great.

i forget how many final crisis fans are on this board sometimes.

it's good stuff.

the Omega sanction "THE DEATH THAT IS LIFE" is one of Darkseid's special abilities to send your consciousness back through time. each time you die (in progressively more gruesome ways) you jump forward and forward in time. and you remember all of it.

It's a superhero comic book, those aren't noted for their great logic. Especially superman, this is a guy who apparently could sneeze and destroy planets. There are probably more inconsistencies and things that don't make sense about such characters than things that do.

*sigh* AGAIN! Superman can't do that shit anymore.

Or why not have the ability to evacuate the planet ;)

arrogance. Kryptonians thought (and rightfully so) that they were the most advanced civilization in the galaxy and that Jor-El was simply wrong.
