It seems similar to the SMT games. You have areas you can explore selectable from a map.

you should be fine, Namdai is really doing some advertising for this game so I doubt the launch for this will be anything like All-Star Rumble where my local store only got 1 for each console at launch and the PS3 one was my pre-order.

If you have Prime, chat with a support rep and complain about it, they will upgrade you to release date shipping. I always do that whenever a random game doesn't have it.

The gameplay reminds me of Digimon Data Squad game on the ps2 but way better

Its also a game I consider not to follow the World or Story structure

In Japan its mainly a side story to the season 5 anime.
I assume both games are simply tributes to their respected seasons as they expand on both stories.

Digimon World 2 is my favorite Digimon game and I always check all our local shops to see if I can find a copy without resorting to eBay.

Digimon World 3 is a close second, a lot of rich RPG content and quite lengthy.

I'm not sure if it has been confirmed yet, but all signs point to the multiplayer being like the Japanese version. That means you can only battle friends locally ad-hoc. (I think) The PS4 isn't capable of that, so you most likely won't be able to battle friends on it.

So PS4 will have online randoms and Vita will have both online and local.*

*Like I said, not confirmed, but likely.

The world series is based around raising Digimon, basically a call back to the series origin and the focus is that how you raise you Digimon affects their stats and how they evolve.

The story games are straight up simple RPG so evolving the Digimon isn't as hard.
