Made it to chapter 12. The story is moving so fast now. I wasn't really expecting the plot to be this ambitious for a Digimon game. Media Vision really knocked this out of the park. The music is getting better and better and there's quite a bit of variety in locations too. The chapter 12 looks great so far!
I tried using an ATK restraint on my Plesiomon to lower its attack but I keep getting the "This will have no effect if it is used". Its personality is builder.
Currently chapter 9, which took me 16 hours. The game is in many ways simpy amazing, but I feel a little bored by the dialogues lately. But from what I read here, the Story will get more exciting soon.
Just got to Chapter 10 and I have to repeat what others have said about the story. There is way more going on then I thought there would be, and I hear it only picks up from here on out. Stopped to grind for a bit since I got lucky and have had Tactician USB's made from an island twice now. They nailed the digivolving aspect of this game so well. Last game I played was the Sun one on the DS and it was so much more tedious than it is here. In Cyber Sleuth it's just plain fun.
If you are asking how to make a def penetrating attack do more damage, the answer is to boost your attack stat. It's weird how this game has attack and defense for physical, but then int is a combined damage and defensive stat.

I love Suzuhito Yasuda too much not to pull the trigger on this. You've won me over. Kyoko and Nokia are clear signs of what happens when you let Yasuda free though.
Not seeing Summon Night 6 here at all. They went from Chaos Rings III to Shining Resonance to Cyber Sleuth to Planet Vader to the Valkyria Remaster (and the new Valkyria).

Huh, that's interesting. Felistella was the developer I was thinking of, but they're credited for production assistance there, while Media Vision is the main dev. Incidentally...
Decided to buy this game because of the thread since it looked pretty good from the start. The intro wasn't too bad but kinda thought everything up to chapter 10 was taking forever to get things moving. Then from chapter 10 it just keeps on moving to a point I didn't realize I was already at the last chapter. Finished the game today and really enjoyed it. Been some time since I had played a JRPG that had me hooked on it for about two weeks straight. Think I clocked in at around 90 hours? Probably will head back into it later to get the platinum. Just wanted to say thanks to the people who posted in this thread to keep it up on the front page otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to look into the game at all. Though I am looking forward to other future games in this series since I enjoyed the story side of this game, the battle system of this game had left me not liking it so much by the end of it. I am guessing this is the first Digimon game with this particular tone in regards to story? Definitely has re-sparked my interest in the Digimon series.(I already finished watching S1 and Tamers through the course of the game)
Thoughts and some questions after finishing the game:
Man I thought that 1st Examon fight was epic and turned out to be "Oh yeah we can't fight him at the moment, let's come back with a plan." Maybe I really wasn't paying attention all to well, but was it ever explain to why the MC could be in the human world as data? Or was that just a sign that the digital world and human world were starting to merge? I forget what chapter it was but it was a quest involving the occult club where you had to deal with some bloody Mary rumor by walking in the Shibuya crossing and a ghost girl was summon. Did that ever get resolved?
I fucking hate Jesmon so damn much. Every time I've fought a Jesmon in the online Colosseum hes been basically invincible and proceeds to wipe out my entire damn team whilst constantly surviving from attacks that should have killed his shiny ass 5 times over. He seriously pisses me off. He basically has multiple invincibility buttons (Safe Guard + whatever his special ability is) and as long as he keeps them up he literally cannot die. Such bullshit.
The game has hyped me hype to watch the anime now. Since I rewatched Frontier (boring) and Tamers last year, I'll give Savers a try. Never seen that one.

I really disliked Kyoko's design before I picked this game up. The cleavage shot is just ridiculous and the shorts sometimes end up looking like underwear(which is weird because other times they look like short shorts) but honestly she's probably one of the best characters in the game. I really wish they didn't give her that awful boob opening because just without that alone the design is way better.

There's really nothing unusual about the Cyber Sleuth character design. They're all just copies of Devil Survivor characters with hair color changes here and there. Yasuda is not very creative, but his style sure is distinctive... lol.

I don't know if there is an official reason for the MC data body but I thought it was because he/she got attacked by an Eater while at the same time logging out so it didn't consume you and your condition is a side effect of it touching you. As for the Ghost girl I asked the same thing and it was just a creepy 1 chapter thing.

I've never played the DS games but my friend owned one of them and I remember when I first saw screens of CS I was confused because Nokia and Arata looked exactly like characters from DS.
Anyways weird was probably the wrong word to use since the hair and face are fine. It's more like the clothing design in the game is bad for certain characters.

I want to say that this is the dodgiest clothing a Maaya Sakamoto character has ever worn, but then I remember how the clothing in The 3rd Birthday would fall apart as I got damaged. Looooool.
I actually beat him without either thanks to my Mastemon and Marine Angemon having Safe Guard and Status Shield. Actually made the fight kinda easy. Just put a heavy hitter in the last party slot and spammed Speed charge with Mastemon whenever heals or shields werent required. Pretty much steamrolled him and I was playing on hard mode. The tricky part was making sure safe guard was ALways active. Basically had to rely on a high speed damage member for the last phase. I used the high speed member to spam healing items and mastemon and marineangemon just spammed shields untill the dude whittled his own hp down to a shred.
Try and get a good Data type healer. I used MarineAngemon. Sukayamon is also pretty solid but I prefer the status debuff wipe that MarineAngemon's special provides. Rapidly becoming one of my favorite digimon in the game. Mastemon also works wonders thanks to be neutral element type and her special attack can do a TON of damage thanks to the flat 25%.
Ooops Sorry double post. Didnt expect nobody to have posted in the last 10 mins. My bad. :-/
So can anyone give me a really quick rundown on what exactly is needed to farm tactician USBs? Thought I was doing it right but my lack of success means I'm probably not...
Mastemon learns Safe Guard at level 80. As far as status sheild goes I can't remember the path I took to get mine but I remember it was an alternate path from Gatomon. Let me see if I can find it.
Ok so heres how I got Safety Guard on my Mastamon: Angewoman to Ophanimon. Ophanimon devolve into Piximon. Piximon evolve into Hououmon. Hououmon to lvl 80 for Safety Guard. Devolve back to Piximon. Piximn back to Ophanimon. Ophanimon back to Angewoman. THen DNA Digivolve.
I also got Speed Charge (honestly cant recall where I picked this up), Panic Wisp (from Monzaemon), Holy Light III and Final-Aura. Basically never a wasted turn.
Funnily enough I am WAY more fond of my MarineAngemon atm. He straight up trivialized Lucemon and Leviamon. He also has both Safety guard and status shield along with a fairly powerful set of water attacks thanks to his remarkably high base int and speed values. His special ability is a massive group heal that also gets rid of all status effects. He can also learn dispell which rids any party member of all debuffs and he gives the party passive SP regen. He is just sooooooooooooo good. Him + Sukayamon's enemy buff dispells just makes so many boss fights easy. Im straight up rolling through the great challenges with 0 issues whatsoever on hard thanks to these two.
