i need to advance way further if i want the final form on some since similar subquest reqs.
i wonder and hope that it isnt possible to miss any memory pickups

It's really tempting to run in circles raising levels, friendship, scanning etc, running to the digilab to evolve and hatch new digimon, then doing it all over again.
Also I'm a bit weird about getting digimon scanned to 200% before hatching them. That only grants a little bit extra of that "potential" stat, right?
Also, what about the email-ish system? Does answering your digimon's questions correctly do anything, or is it just for fun?

I'm liking this a lot. If it gets a good player base going for it in different regions then we might get a sequel, or another game that follows the mold and improves on it. Multiplayer almost guarantees a competitive scene which means a dedicated player base. This is what Vita needs more of. I really want to see this game live up to expectation. It looks good but I think has the potential to be great. I'm probably seeing this game with rose colored goggles. Wishful thinking isn't always a good thing. Still, I'm hoping for the best. If it gets localized I'll be sure to show my support. Bandai Namco needs to know then can get behind games that aren't just Naruto and Tekken related.
I don't think it's such a good idea - you might have problems with not being to be able to put many Digimon of higher forms into your party/not have a slot for that free digimon to use for instant fights. You will also fight many of the second/third forms in later dungeons anyway, so it's much faster than just evolving and devolve everything for all possible outcomes.
I believe that some memory upgrades actually are missable, since I haven't found a way to go back to digitized Tokyo dungeons anywhere. Maybe later in the game you'll be able to revisit them all because sometimes a cutscene with a boss and forced return to the office cuts you off before you can get all the items.

hardly an issue as i have a ton of others that i can fill out slots with. to give you an idea of how many i have my bank is almost full. last night had actually scrapped some. the high lv ones were crafted over a decent period of time so their output is better that ones ill be able to pull from later dungeons.
yeah was worried about that with the dungeons and memory units for when i found out they come from treasure chests too. i should just use the book with the maps from now on to ensure i dont miss any.
i was thinking that the digilab would have had any digital dungeons that ive been in would appear in the free dungeon section but seems like thats for those digital tunnels instead.

It seems that website has a lot of the evolutions up for those interested.
Don't know if it was already confirmed but you can get Mugendramon (Machinedramon) from Hagurumon if you evolve (spoiler tags just in case)

Since it's the Day-One edition, I got the DLC coupon stuff, but I cannot unlock it unless I use a JP account on my Vita, can I?

You might be able to set up a JPSN account, download the DLC then use it with your other PSN account. "Might" being the main word though...
You can't access any of the content linked to the other account on the Vita iirc.

Platinum cup cleared. That was really tedious more than anything else, since my monsters are really strong now, but sometimes lack the punch if enemies don't have any weaknesses.

151 digimon seen, 111 recorded, not half bad. I've also tried one online fight and one with someone ranked ~800 while I was ~1400. Now I'm ranked ~800 myself. Too bad that you have to watch all the attack animations online, but it's not that big of a deal.

That's really neat, I was just wondering how accurate they were when they recreated it in the game.
The Digital Network was fun, flying about fighting things (yeah still early, been distracted playing FFXIV mostly). Botamon is either at or near 200% scan and Punimon is at 200% scan just because I didn't want to exit the Network too soon (It was fun like I said haha)
edit: I am having such a hard time now deciding what Digimon to bring with me. I've even digivolved one to it's Baby 2/In-training stage (Pabumon -> Tanemon -> back to Pabumon) just so I can digivolve it to another form.

Ok a few things. First I thought some vs CPU thing at the top of Nakano. That was fun and got me quite a bit of EXP. Final boss of it was Guilmon who almost killed Pukamon (but didn't, yay).
Then I got my DLC (Gabumon (black) and Agumon (black) and then I went back to the Digilab and discovered the wonders of Digi-load aka a use for doubles of Digimon you already have (let's face it, you'll face a lot of the same Digimon and get their scan data, you can convert them and then load them into experience for your other Digimon).
I also had Koromon digivolve into ToyAgumon and then back into Koromon. I don't like ToyAgumon much.
This is lots of fun

Don't forget that the Vita compress them to hell and beyond.
There isn't too much AA from what I can see (though I think there is some, just not a lot since models during talking scenes have jaggies). The non-talking scenes look pretty nice though I think.

But if you're desperate then yes you can get by without reading Japanese, you just may not understand the story. Anything menu related or gameplay related, you can get help with here or on other websites.
Are there any English guides for the game yet? If not, I imagine that progressing through the story, which aside from dungeons boils down to "go to location X irl/in Eden" might be a bit annoying once you open more locations and have no idea where you're supposed to be.
No English guides outside of the menu translations but if you can't get help on here/gfaqs then could always use a method some Tales importers (including me back when ToX first came out iirc) and look for a JP wiki guide and use google translate to work through it.
It's not perfect but it used to get the job done nicely.
Of course that may be annoying for some which is why unless you (aiming this at anyone who is questioning if they should import this) think you're okay with it, I'd advise waiting to see if they localize it. It only just came out after all, it could still get an announcement later in the year.
edit: also I'd expect someone on gfaqs to do a guide for it soon enough if you're willing to wait but still think you'll import.

It's fun. Has a lot of backtracking, requires you to devolve and evolve digimon over and over again to meet the requirements for the final formas and maps could be more helpful, but other than that it's a really solid and enjoyable game.What is the consensus on this so far? solid game no doubt. real nice graphics and music. while evolving things isnt an issue there is just the repetition part in the process but still easier than other games in the genre.

im still screwing around chapter 4 making my digimon but have 100 recorded. most of the time is going into raising the potential rating. since need to get several to 80. friendship stuff is easy as long as the digimon eats the dokidoki meat since thats 20 a pop.
dragging around the flying golden shit helps slightly with money making as it doubles the earned amount. since am curious about how much the platinum one gives am leveling it to 65 in the farm.
I like the sound of that. I'm 99% sure I'd get it if it comes to the US. I hope it does.

if you like playing a game blind sure! it depends on how adept one is to playing import titles really.
not too much eng info to fall back on outside of menu translations atm is another thing to consider.

for those wondering about localization chances.
Actually am pretty certain they will bring it to the West. Once the Digimon Adventure Tri anime hits and gets localized for the West too, that would be their "drop point" for announcing the title. On top of BanNam has been a lot more aggressive with releasing their titles in SE Asia + West.
God Eater 2: Rage Burst am certain will be the same too with the upcoming Anime to start the hype going.
