The game really should tell you the basic type of the Digimon you're evolving to. I just broke my party balance because the evolution of one Digimon turned out to be a different type than the base guy.
There are a lot like that. Though unlike other games you can always go backwards by de-evolving them so its a non issue. Unlike other games where you literally are screwed lol Im just glad that this game design is not the type that requires you to go fusing 2 types together.
really is nice how much less time consuming raising your digimon are in this game plus you can do the "social game sacrificing" and load in other digimon to one you select turning them onto exp for even faster leveling. only real neck outside of high lv digimon reqs is the friendship lv but even that isnt too bad
Non issue? Right now I have to level my guys to 30 to evolve them and the next evolution is at 55. I'm guessing that de-evolving takes them back to lv 1, so that's about half an hour of pure grinding - I'd rather reload my save, lol.

Pretty much with how many tools they give the player to level, unless you are someone that needs to rush through things this by far is the easiest and fastest game when it comes to evolving ones creatures.
Though I personally favor the overly excessive system DQM had.
To reach the better digimon you need to learn how to use the de-evolving system anyways from what it looks like with all the info the book has.
I still wish there was a bit more to capturing over just fighting a bunch of times as it kinda takes away from the feeling of "accomplishment / excitement" when you do capture something. Granted it adds to more time spent in the title for high-lv / rare monsters and such.
Though this way it makes it easier for the whole loading for exp system since you can just keep dumping all the stuff you max out and no longer need to mess with for evolving for bonus exp.
I most likely look at this game pretty differently after all the wonderfully traumatizing experiences I went through in DQM lol. Game is crazier than pokemon seriously in some ways. D: Fantastic title though had about 90 hours in DQMJ2 you would not believe how many times Ive fucked shit up that takes a ton of time to do / generations of monsters in DQM D:

Just started the game but went with a female Aiba and out of a lack of originality, I called her ヒカリ (Hikari). It's weird how you can't use english characters so warning to folks: Either leave the default names of タクミ and アミ　(Takumi and Ami) or make sure your vita has the JP keyboard activated.

no its a problem when you dont get the 30k hes supposed to for 6 star medals
also the other ranked medal payout amounts do not match the book data.
at first thought it might be an issue with trying to sell a fuckton of medals at once. went and bought a few got lucky with another 6 stat medal and the payout amount was only about 1.3k where it should have been 30k+
even for my initial sale to the guy had 2 6stars a 5 and few 4s and ton of the lower rank ones only got like 1.5k.

Well, I haven't seen the "deevolve at least once" requirement, but all next forms of 2/3 of my current party require quite high 才能 so I'm guessing that's what you meant. Too bad, I don't really feel like leveling those guys to 30 again and then to 55. Not what I'd call fun.

hooboy the time sink will most def run deep with this game fantastic new area im in though the new digimon are making me want to build them all up which means investing a good amount of time leveling evolving deevolving etc even if this is one of the faster types in the genre time most def must be spent to do it.
should be a good time as am looking forward to the new creations.

Whoop whoop, it finally came! I can't keep up with most of the dialogue, although I get the gist.
Music is great so far, that's one of the things I was most looking forward to when I saw who was doing the OST.

Am still busy running around evolving / de-evolving things. poor bosses though when i do decide to move forward are getting roflstomped bad due to how leveled up my digimon are.
But yeah I should move up to there as saw the info in the book but just have not been advancing since am working with all the new digimon ive created / collected.

Separate topic going back a page or so de-evolving does raise the level cap in this game too for the de-evolved digimon.
The bosses are a joke anyway. Right now the only fights which weren't a joke were the ones in the Gold Coliseum Cup.
That said, I'm one step away from the almost final evolutions, so.

Its easy if you over level yes. Which is not that hard to do really. But if you try to do something stupid such as rush through the game you will eventually hit a wall as some bosses will do all party attacks, which will mess up your characters if you bring the wrong type to battle.
If you are properly leveled just as with any game its not that big of an issue.
Game is as easy as you make it as with any other reasonable title out there.

Are the parameter training/feeding mechanics similar to Digimon World on PS1 at all? They look fairly similar, but I'm wondering if they effect evolution trees as much as they did in that game. Going to be sinking HOURS into this game if so.

You need to explain what the previous mechanics were. Otherwise cant help you.
If you have other food types you can raise the basic attributes. Exp is gained automatically and also when you do the training that has 3 levels. Then there are items you can place in the farm which help exp growth of other stats growth it seems. Such as HP / SP for starters.
Generic food will raise friendship level and that is regenerated on its own.
The one thing you cant raise in the farm is the potential status and raising the level cap which requires de-evolving / evolving.
For evolution purposes in Digimon World 1 on the PS1. Feeding effects weight which effects evolution (ie Adult level Digimon need 20+ weight usually, Perfect Level needs 30+ unless it's something like Mamemon/small digimon) and training effects stats (attack, defense, etc) which effect evolution (ie Agumon needs pretty balanced stats, like 100 attack/defense/speed/brains and 1000 hp/mp to digivolve to Greymon.)
Those are pretty much the evolution mechanics from Digimon World 1.
The balance in the game is really weird. I'm in chapter 9 right now and have been killing most regular enemies with 1 hit and bosses which were one of the 3 types pretty fast for quite a while. That said, there were a few problematic bosses, one of which used a super powerful one target, (-) type attack for (iirc) over my maximum health. In those cases even being overleveled won't help you, so better bring reviving items.

As with most monster collecting titles Id imagine that there will be bosses like that. Its similar to things that would happen in DQ Monsters, which is certain enemies could 1hk you regardless if you had a stroke of bad luck. lol

Today Ive been busy running a ton of errands so didnt get in as much game time as Id like. Its too bad that the farm stuff requires you to be in game to run down. Err the clock thats for training / creating / search. As my training still had an hour to go when i shut it off last.

Seems like this game has everything pre-set and it will tell you what the stuff you need for the evolution. Dont have to worry about weight in this game. Its all pretty straight forward once you figure out the simple mechanics.
This appears to be more about evolving / de-evolving / leveling

I bet so. The last few DS games had some really nasty Coliseum fights as well as crazy high-leveled wild Digimon that required you have a really strong team.
(Lost Evolution went overboard with it with their "trapped chest" enemies; the worst ones would be packing a few hundred thousand HP when the damage cap was set at 9999, and had crazy strong stats to boot. Wasn't fun at all.)

After 25 hours, I finally got to chapter 10 (while doing all subquests so far). I was planning to get the ultimate (?) forms today, but sadly reaching levels ~50 wasn't nearly enough, since I need to rise some stats as well. Should be able to do it tomorrow.
As for the game itself, it's fun, but I don't like that you have to run around the same areas so much - it already got quite tedious and I'm still far away from the end.

i would kill for an encounter rate up item
at least this game gives auto battle plus shortening animations so shows the devs considered the players more than most games lol
Item? Good one. If you have a "Free" type Digimon in your party you can use a hacking skill that increases the encounter rate and if that Digimon's form is 成長期 or above, you can use a skill that instantly starts a battle.
I highly suggest you read the skill descriptions in the "Hacking Skills" part of the Player Menu, since they have weird requirements but are very useful.

ah i see it function call. will have to check that right now its deactivated so must not have progressed far enough yet. am working on some high lv digimon while doing the pokemon shuffle for encounters
You can access all of them, it's not related to the story progress - you just need the proper digimon in your party. I could unlock firewall 2 and 3 walls way before I even saw them in game.
Btw., I can confirm that there items which you can equip your Digimon with which increase the amount of scan data you get from fights. Only got 1 as a boss or quest drop, but maybe they'll be available for purchase later.

Superstarmon to whatever keeps its data type. It only has 3 evolutions, one is vaccine, one has crazy requirements which include a subquest and the last one wants lv 65, so I have no choice but to go for the third one.

Sigh, thanks. I'll get it to 60 and hope that I won't have to worry about stats too much at that point. Have 2 other data candidates, but they're lv 20 and 30.
Btw., stat increasing food for the farm increases a stat by 10, so there's that. There's even miracle meat which increases 友情 AND 才能 by 10. Too bad that there's no place to buy all that stuff yet, I think all of those items so far were subquest rewards.

book lists miracle meat at 1mil yen might be an endgame thing? other special items have similar crazy prices.
that evolve form you need requires 40才能 it seems so hope you have that up high. im still messing with raising thay on some of the lower level digimon early on jic
