Digimon World -Next Order- |Import OT| Welcome Back to Digimon World

Digimon World 1 had 61, but game data suggests that 2 Digimons were cut.

Curious, do we know what 2 were cut?
Edit, just checked out Cutting Room Floor, is it Kaminarimon (who doesn't seem to actually exist as a Digimon) and WereGarurumon? There's also references to Gigadramon, Panjyamon, and MetalEtemon, but those are obtainable through cheats.

[impressions]

I'm glad you're enjoying the game so much, that bodes well. I was worried it would just be a slightly updated Re:Digitize, but it sounds like they really added a lot of stuff and made the Digimon act more dynamically.

I kinda regret choosing the DLCmons, not seeing the eggs there anymore is a shame and I miss hearing the VA.

I now have Jesmon with some crazy high stats, and an Aero Veedramon that doesn't want to evolve.

I'm not too far into the game, only like part way into Chapter 2. Been taking it kinda slow

1st one is most famous one, Weregarurumon. Digivolution item specifically mentions If it had been finished, this would have been his debut in series. I think he would have been treated as Ver 0 Digimon like others who debuted in that game. Strangely, apparently Wikimon has a lot of his requirements and other data. I dont know if its false info, but it sounds possible it was hidden in data. To quote them:

” Were Garurumon is a Digimon that was removed from the game. It has no appearance and has a slighty different name in Japanese, ウェアガルルモン. It is intended to evolve naturally from Garurumon, Leomon, Yukidarumon, or Mojyamon with at least 30 g Weight, 4000 HP, 400 for Defense, Speed, and Brains, and 3 or less care mistakes. Its Finishing Technique appears to be Glacial Blast, the only Technique that was removed from the game. Despite this, there is an unobtainable evolution item to evolve any Adult Digimon into Were Garurumon known as Moonlight Mirror (月光の鏡 Gekkō no Kagami).”

Next one is odd. Its a digivolution item that digivolves to… Kaminarimon. You may wonder who is that? Common theory is that it was Thunderballmon, but Wikimon has conflicting info. Wikimon suggests that its an unsed digivolution item for Kunemon, that was scrapped for some reason. The item was called, Electric Ring, which does fit Kunemon, who has a black electric ring mark on his body. But the item is located within in middle of other Champion digimon digivolution items.

EDIT: Metaletemon, Panjyamon and Gigadramon are super strange. It was recently discovered that Metaletemon’s digivolution item was actually given away as a price in Japan! So they kinda were like event legendaries in Pokemon? There is no proof that Panjyamon or Gigadramon were released, but atleast Metaletemon was. Strangely all 3 had weird changes. Metaletemon was Vaccine, and others were Data, all of them conflicting data nowadays.

Interesting, I had no idea there was a mystery Digimon. I really need to go back and beat the first game. I always get to the tundra area and hit a brick wall progress-wise, I just need to power through it, hopefully before/if this game comes out.

Regarding Next Order I got some questions:

Have they got rid of locked digivolutions? I found it stupid that Redigitized locked some Digimon like Wargreymon and Phoenixmon behind some quests. That shit is idiotic.

Are the techniques samey? I had that kind of feel in Redigitized. It doesnt look much better, but do they work differently?

Save scumming was soooo abusable in Redigitized, since this game is apparently easier, you may dont need to do that? And for that matter how is bonus training and stats gained from battles. In DW1 training stats by battles was useless.

Is framerate bad in field or only in battles with multiple digimon?

They fixed some things like town actually being built. This game might be easy, but honestly DW1 was mainly hard because we knew jacknshit about it. DW1 was quite easy after you got good items.

One bad thing is not roster, but digivolutions being fucking weird. So Leviamon, the evil sea beast, is in this game but doesnt evolve from Waruseadramon, the one evil sea reptilian beast digimon. What. I should look up how much more weirdness is here...

There are still some locked evolutions, but I've only come across two so far. They don't seem to be nearly as prevalent as in Re:Digitize.

These areas feel mostly the same to me. The technique system functions pretty much the same here.

Training bonuses are easier to get this time because there's just a single minigame rather than one for each stat. The stats you get from battles depends on your current stats, mostly. A lower level Digimon with poor stats will get quite a boost, but if you already have great stats you'll get almost nothing from battles.

Ok small nitpicks I noticed.

Someone released a video about Next Orders collectable cards. Funny enough, they are straight copied from Redigitized. Whats even more funny is that the new ones are not properly adjusted in order, instead they were shoved to end. Its kinda stupid because they were originally in order of digivolution stage and japanese alphabets, but now the new cards are also just there at the bottom. It looks kinda lazy. It is odd that in original games they didnt have cards for Turuiemon, Datamon, Armageddomon or even Venomvamdemon. The old redigitized card list had many weirder inclusions. So good for them to get cards.

Also they removed X-antibody cards. They kept the originals but form changed cards were removed. Keep losing X-antibody fans.

It does piss me off that Cyber Sleuth introduced a small retcon. Grankuwagamon is ingame typed as Virus type. He was originally Free. Well, whatever… but they forgot to change Grankuwagamons card’s typing.

Also massive bravo for them to creating a new recolor but not caring anything about him so they made his type Unknown. Also it looks like Meicoomon's typing is also Unknown.

The card list also shows official art for the new Omegamon Zwart form.

I feel like complaining a lot recently, but honestly Im quite curious about this game. If this gets localized, Im definately buying it. Weirdness, while enough to complain about does make this game stand out uniquely.

So, as a huge DW1 fan, should I import this- Amazon JP has 3.5* , but JP gamers have different tastes so I'm not putting too much weight on that. The battle system seems incredibly slow as turn based, but I've only watched like 3 battles, I found re:digitized to be slow as well. I haven't watched anything outside battles, but it seems to me like it'll be smoother/better on the inevitable ps4 release. Any opinions would be great.

I've been really enjoying the game. No regrets on importing this.

I don't really feel the battles are slow, only way they could be is if you're training your Digimon bad.

Cross posting from the community thread:

Well it seems that while the code in my used copy of Next Order doesn't work for the DLC, it does work for the DW1 OST from the Next Order website :D yay

Well, that's nice at least, even if it doesn't get the DLC.

I still need to properly listen to the whole soundtrack.

Finally started the game, ended up with the two I wanted right away :D yay.

edit:

And again, got the two I was aiming for :D

Hey guys, is there a way to prevent a digievolution? I Have wargrowlmon and it's evolve to Rusty-tyranomon as soon as I train the speed, but I think that is the stat I need to evolve into Exmon (which is the one I want)

PS: I'm playing the Chinese version.

They're hidden, so no normally, you have to dump it and apply a patch/hack with henkaku.

Mmmh, about the battles. I found them more "dinamyc or faster" than cyber-sleuth, buuuut, you have way less control, you just have to encourage your Digimon after they hit they enemy (pressing circle), and that gives you CP (command power? or something like that), and with that you can give them commands to use the special, or any attack available.

The game is slow, long loadings (I bet that's because of Unity engine), fast travel sucks, and the story is ok so far..., some side quest are really annoying, and the monsters want to poop to often, event at ultra evolutions -___-, or get sick random.

Anyway, I didn't play a digimon world since psx, so I'm having a lot of fun, I only have like 8hs in so, too soon to tell.

So is it worth preordering the North American version or is this a game I should wait on?

If you want to play a modern take on Digimon World, it's definitely worth it. The game is not without its warts, but it's a really great take on the monster raising genre, and a lot of fun to play.

If you're more interested in something heavily story driven or a traditional RPG, I'd probably not buy it at full price, because you'll probably be at least a little let down.

I loved Cyber Sleuth so I'd happily preorder the next Story series game but sadly with so much coming out in January alone I think I'll have to pass on this :(

if it weren't for Gravity Rush 2, Kingdom Hearts 2.8, Tales of Bersia, and Yakuza 0 all coming out in the ~11 days before it :-/
