I'm not seeing how DLSS is better in any of the images provided, especially the close-ups.

For those claiming this, please point me in the right direction.

Alex points them out in the PSSR vs DLSS section. Some parts I could tell what he was talking about, such as the aliasing on towers. Other parts were not as noticeable. But I did think overall the DLSS images were just clearer.

To really see it, you need to go full screen on a 4K monitor or TV

DLSS is definitely more stable temporally. I don't think there's a "winner" at normal viewing distances. The differences should be very hard to spot unless you look for them.

Yeah, this isn't the best game to do this. Of course DLSS should be better, it's a better technology at the moment. But if PSSR brings things this close, in this particular game, the PRo might be on to something.

Look at video in 4k, PSSR has fizzle to the whole image - that's the biggest difference.

In the end as Alex have said, games with internal resolution like Ratchet (1440p or more) are boring for comparisons, 1080p to 4k will be more interesting comparison.

No FSR is not AI driven like the other 2. Which is why it's so great because it can work on far more gpus. Even pretty old ones. Which is why these things are stupid as they make fanboys down something they should be praising as it helps the majority of pc gamers out there.

You try to match visual settings as he's done here, you bring a similar GPU and CPU and you compare framerate. It's pretty simple and they already do that with FSR on PS5 and DLSS on PC... Why are you trying to act brand new?

Except there's no similar GPU at all. RT Performance Mode is also seemingly locked to 60fps on the Pro, so again, won't work. This is a video about the quality of the upscalers, not the performance. Even in PC videos, they almost never compare the performance of DLSS vs FSR because it tends to be similar except for a few edge cases.

They might do a video of 4070 vs a PS5 Pro later on, but this isn't the point of the video. You're basically asking them to put together a PC that closely matches a PS5 Pro for performance comparisons. Hell, I'm not even sure if they have a Pro on their hands.

They are working on an AI one and honestly it should be close to this as AMD worked with Sony to make PSSR. I know they've not said outright but AMDs AI version should pretty much just be PSSR on PC because no doubt they're going to use what they've already worked on for Sony and the results are already this good.

Also, it is DLSS 3.7 competing with PSSR 1.0.

LOL, both XeSS and PSSR were build on knowledge DLSS team gathered over the years. DLSS 1.0 is not even the same tech that DLSS 2.0 (and up) uses.

The less said about DLSS 1.0, the better. It was a fair attempt and actually a far more interesting way to upscale images using AI, but it failed horribly.

Again, having a discussion about still images for ai upscalers is super misleading and probably in favor of PSSR.

No developer would do this and no gamer would do this at the end of the day its a full formula Image Quality AND Performance...

Asking DF to put together a PC to do proper comparisons? Yeah... That's kind of the whole point of what they do... They don't need to have a PS5 Pro on hand, but think about what you said. They don't have a PS5 Pro on what, but what are they doing here, using prerecorded footage of an unreleased game that might not be indicative of performance on release. Why would they do that? Again, because they're farming engagement at the end of the day.

But what they're hold off on doing is putting out framerate videos ahead of launch that would really paint the PS5 Pro in a favorable light. Alex is still putting out commentary that the PS5 Pro is "expensive" even if it has a better value proposition than more expensive GPUs... That's disingenuous.

I have no doubt that a 4070 will outperform the PS5 Pro, the question is by how much and whether that constitutes the difference in price or whether the PS5 Pro is actually what it seems to be... a great value for the price.

Probably unrelated to HW itself, you just need pictures from games in high resolution, as far as I know DLSS is trained on 16K dataset

I dunno. I feel like in normal tv viewing distances you can't see any of these PS5 Pro improvements. Only when pixel peeping which no one would do except DF. I'm more interested in frame rate improvements so looking forward to seeing those.

No one is zooming in on leaves while playing a game... What you would actually see at distances (10-12+ft away from your tv) and while playing the game is going to be negligible.

The real question that hasn't been answered and won't be initially is how much does PSSR cost devs. You can already see that some devs have decided not to use it for their older games and there has to be a reason for that.

I assume as a reference point to how it started, which is also false to be fair as the current versions of DLSS originate from their changed set up in DLSS 2.0 onwards, so if you want to compare how PSSR 1.0 looks to DLSS first proper outing, comparing it to 2.0 should be that starting point.
