Trying to figure out some settings for T300RS. Does the game want you to reduce your own steering rotation to match the animation? TH8A shifter working great by default. Might need to change the "center by game" to the wheel maybe. Feels kinda dead even at 360 degrees.

The audio is absolutely amazing. On dash camera view I could hear a little motor whining whenever my Mini's wipers went off. Running over ice I could hear slight cracking noises from the weight of my car. Dunno how legit the actual engine sounds are but they're dramatic and fun to hear regardless of how realistic they are.

Have a bonus pic of the Mini where it belongs.

Also the sound of you braking is sick too.

I just landed a jump badly, hit my rear right sidewall off a bump and burst the tire. Heard a big hissing noise and the codriver said we've got a puncture.

The damage and sound design in this is just unbelieveable. This game came out of nowhere and it's probably the best thing to happen to rally games.

DiRT Rally Early Access Begins

Release April 2015
Welcome to DiRT Rally and thank you for joining us for early access.

For the last few years our fans have been asking us for a game that is pure rally with none of the fluff, one that has more stages, longer stages and repairs in between stages. You’ve told us you want your own team, you want to be able to set the car up and to feel like you own the car you’re driving. We want to deliver that game and with your help we hope we do.

So what are you getting in our launch pack?

17 Cars - Having hundreds of cars doesn’t interest us, rally is about having the right car and we intend to give you those cars. These 17 are just to get us started and we’ll be adding more cars over more classes as the year goes on.

36 Stages – Winding paths through forests, death defying drops off hillsides and narrow mountain paths are what this is all about. It’s you, your codriver and your car versus the road ahead and to get us started we’ll be heading to the muddy forest tracks of Wales, the dusty trails of Greece and the icy tarmac of the legendary Monte Carlo rally.

A-Synchronous Events – Take on the world in Daily, Weekly and Monthly challenges. These are the ultimate tests of skill and determination and it’s going to take everything you have to finish on top.

Simulation handling – We’ve accurately recreated how every part of the car works and to support this we’ve developed a brand new physics model which simulates everything from the way the surface of the road behaves to limited slip differentials. This is how these cars drive and to achieve this we’ve had our very own rally driver on staff working alongside the most talented car handling designers in the world. We’ve had countless visitors in from the world of rally, rallycross and friends from the community, helping us to make sure that we’ve got it as right as we can, ready for you.

Team Management – Hire and fire your crew members, each of which will have different skills improving repair times for different parts of the car, unlock new perks as they gain experience and work together as a team to improve your performance in events.

League Support – Get together with friends and run your very own racing league. You can join up to six leagues at any one time and run them how and when you want. For more information on setting up and joining a racing league visit dirtgame.com

As a thank you for supporting us during Early Access we are giving you a special DiRT Rally livery for the Subaru Impreza 1995.

This game reminds me how bad I always was at rally games...

Having a lot of fun, it's hard, but playable even with a controller. Just finished Monaco in the 60s Open Championship and the team installed a weight reduction upgrade, so yeah, you progress on upgrades during events.

Hi all,

Being totally honest we're blown away by how much you love what we've made. I need to try and catch up with the rest of the world after finishing the livestream so if you have any questions please ask away.

I hope that there is real consideration for a current gen console version of this game, it sounds great, based off this thread.

Well I'll be honest too, thank for listening to the community while developing this game. It seems to be everything rally fans have wanted from a new game. I don't normally buy games in early access but I'm seriously considering breaking that rule for Dirt Rally based on both the impressions and on the feature list (current and planned).

Oh, and please don't throw any gymkata in there later on. Just keep that stuff out of it please!!!!! :)

Hello! I like to liken racing game fanatics, especially something as niche as a rally game, to Porsche 911 fans. You can change it all you want, but in the end all the fans want is more of what made it great in the first place, with all the goodies that's possible. This direction you're taking DiRT in seems like a HUGE step in the right direction, and I can't wait to play it in a little bit. Thank you for this. It feels like Christmas right now.

Yes, I'd say so, because the R9 290 is the recommended AMD card. I've got a GTX780, the other recommended card for the game, with an i5 3570 and I get more than 60FPS average at 1080p maxed. For some reason VSync won't work, but because of that I can confirm that it runs at around 85FPS average. Peaks at around 108FPS and lowest was 63 I saw, never dropped below 60.

It's been a long time coming but worth the wait by the looks of things! Will the DiRT Show become a regular thing to show off the new additions to the game?

I would like to, we had so many problems trying to get the stream running it was a bit of a baptism of fire. Might do one a month around the big updates maybe (if people want them).

is the Rallycross in the game going to be the full experience? (heat races, joker lap, etc?)

Pretty much yeah, its not till the summer and the content is still being built but just like we've done with rally we want to follow rallycross just as close.

Console versions in 2016 after PC early access is over? :)
The most important thing now is early access, after that... its kinda up to you guys :)

thanks for answering

Looks like an actual rally sim

How did codies get permission to make this?

Glad to see it was made as a proper game too and not some DLC for another mainline dirt game or something.

Other than the wrc series there haven't been any actual rally games in forever, about time someone had a go.

Could you comment on support for the Driving Force Pro and Driving Force GT wheels? Is it possible to add support for those at all?

I remember you ran them a few times in the lead up to GRID 2 and they worked well too, I think they would offer a good preview of what to expect and I'm sure everyone would enjoy and appreciate it! Today's stream was great, so thanks! :)

It really doesn't like my wheel (DFGT).

Keep getting random disconnects and wheel rotation changes.

Thanks for being the guinea pig Jibbed. Looks like I will hold off until a patch or solution is found.

Justin, you guys should look into supporting more wheels, in this case the Driving Force GT, its a pretty common wheel in the marketplace.

..and now I'm getting no audio.

Edit: Yep, multiple game restarts. No audio once the rally loads. This on top of my wheel not having a good time... oy.

Well this isn't what I wanted out of a new Dirt, was looking forward to PS4 so hopefully this still comes out there. I have to hand it to them, its an interesting strategy and I hope they listen to player feedback, I just can't do another early access game.

Yes totally, we plan on adding wheel support for the most requested wheels each month as we go. The theory is by the end we'll have pretty much everybody covered.

Hey Lee!

Quick question. Does the game support multiple controllers right now (ie: Wheel + USB Shifter).

Thanks!

Yup :)

This is cool! Haven't played a rally game since Collin McRea rally. Might grab this.

Does it have full wheel support? I'm assuming it does?

Never mind, answered above my post, thanks!

I sort of like this plan for how they're adding content. Reminds me of Driveclub season pass. Maybe more racing games will follow a similar route. Also keeps you coming back every month.

I keep getting an error that Steam servers are too busy during installation, is that normal?

try changing the server steam is connected too in the options somewhere, might help.

I've only ever bumped into it a few times and those were times when a game was converted to steam and everyone was trying to redeem their cd keys.

F1 2015 was going to do this approach on console but they dropped it I believe.
