Disappointed by Ending of Tomb Raider Reboot [spoilers duh]

When she picks up the gun and dual wields to shoot that bastard off the pedestal, I was really impressed.

Had they built a solid, uncompromising TR experience that led up to this point, it would've been one of the most epic moments in that last generation.

Sadly, that was the only aspect of the game I enjoyed.

I loved the game top to bottom. I just wanted more hidden stuff that was actually useful. Ending was appropriate. Lara came a long way and by the end she was a hardened warrior. She wasn't taking anyones shit. The cult leader died like any madman should. He didn't have special powers. He was just nuts. The ending sequence while a bit predictable, was exciting and fun.

TBH I tuned out if the story early when it became obvious both where it was going NDA how anemic it was going to be.

Ultimately narrative wise the title was essentially a prologue - much like Assassins Creed - where they stretched way too little plot over an entire game.

I enjoyed the game overall, and felt many of the mechanics built into the engine we're sound and enjoyable but the whole game felt like they were testing the waters cautiously to see if it worked (which as a reboot I kind of understand).

They better ramp it up like Assassins Creed 2 did as an obvious comparison point or I'll lose interest strong mechanics not withstanding.

I was happy about the double-gun cameo at the end.
I enjoyed the game, even if it was a little bit too guided, with few real environmental exploration (I loved Tomb raider for that, back in the day)

The new Tomb Raider was so good, start to finish.
It's all about managing expectations. I knew it would not be anything like the previous Resident Evils.

I've been playing through this game lately and I admit I've been a bit disappointed because gameplay and cinematics fell really disjointed, I've liked the game overall (even if it fells quite linear) but it really bothers me how in one second she is showed to be a helpless girl in an island, the next she is killing everything on sight, I am also somewhat annoyed that they try to go for a realistic approach but Lara seems to have a better healing factor than wolverine.

I never understood the absolute necessity to have a big ass boss fight at the end of every game - it feels like a huge cliche to me.

The whole last level felt like a final boss to me, just in different form. I was satisfied by the ending both gameplay-wise and story-wise.

But don't listen to me, I one of those people who also liked Marauder Shields moment.

Even with low expectations, I found the game to be an automated bore. Everything that wasn't combat the game did it for you.

I just finished it (100%). Loved every minutes of it. The story was terrible, but the game itself was fun.

The ending was kind of an anticlimax, gameplaywise, but I was dreading having to face up to a difficult boss, so it suited me just fine.

I'm playing on a mouse/keyboard so navigating while fighting and juggling half a dozen keys is hectic, so I didn't want to face a boss.

I finally got around to finishing this. The ending really did feel "gamey" and slapped together. The climb up the mountain really makes no sense (the other dudes apparently took the stairs, why doesn't she?) and the oni boss was a really lazy design. Look for the weak spot and shoot it! Too easy, let's make it during a snow storm so it's harder to see. Still too easy, let's throw in some trash enemies to annoy you. Still to easy, make them repeat it 3 times before the guy actually dies. The final QTE is lame too, I feel like it was just a set up to show her with dual pistols.

It's enjoyable gameplay-wise, but agree that the story kind of sucked. It was so disjointed from the gameplay and tried to hard to be dramatic. At one point there's a cutscene where Lara is all upset and says she has to go save someone quickly, but it deposits you in a new area so the first thing I did was wander around looking for collectibles. I also don't get why the devs were so obsessed with dramatic escape sequences. Like every 10 minutes she's jumping off burning buildings, collapsing cliffsides, exploding bridges, or whatever to get away from a few dudes that she could just turn around and slaughter.

Still, the core gameplay is pretty good. I think there's a lot of potential for the sequel to be awesome.
