I just couldnt get into this, I guess its love it or hate it, I love FFT and TO, its just too wacky for me.
Finished 6-1.
The last levels have been pretty hard. I'm starting to grind, because I had to reencarnate all my non-unique characters to be able to unlock the third tier.
The best grinding place that I found is 5-2, because is very easy to take out level 1 characters from the base, make them participate in a special attack of one of the main characters, and level up without nearly effort.
I know that theorically 6-1 is better to grind, because of the +20% level geoblocks, but those ice bastards can kill any of my characters with a hit if I'm not careful.
There is any other good place to grind?
Edit: I just found it. 5-5, merging 3 level 33 zombies to get level 99 zombies (experience like 340 one) in a way that in a bridge you always have at least one 33 zombie in front, and start combining distance range skills.
I generally create a 2 deep, 3 long pit, and toss in the zombies so that I have a line of 3 level-99 zombies in a row right behind my two characters.Edit: I just found it. 5-5, merging 3 level 33 zombies to get level 99 zombies (experience like 340 one) in a way that in a bridge you always have at least one 33 zombie in front, and start combining distance range skills.
What do you mean you had to reincarnate to unlock a third tier? What exactly does reincarnating do? How much of a boost does it give? Im on 6-1 myself. I'll try those maps for grinding. Thanks!
To capture an enemy, you need to fulfill two requirements:
1) The target must be less than or equal to Mao's level.
2) You must be able to create the specific class and tier.
So, maybe I'm losign my mind here, but how do you send characters to the detention hall, so you can create new chracters?
Been clicking everything but I can't find out how to send them there.
Homeroom, Punish Them (one of the last options)
Now you can work towards getting an Anti-Matter Field! 323 Gencies!
Good god. So can you like one shot anything? What's the point of playing after you've got that high?
There's still a hidden boss I can't kill (and I believe there's another boss fight after that I haven't unlocked yet). I can't even get near him since there are other enemies I need to pass through before getting to him and they destroy me in 1 shot lol.
Land of Carnage is no joke so be prepared for that.
Plus, Mao is my only really strong character. Once he dies, I might as well quit and restart. I have another at 9999 with high stats but still below Mao. So either I continue to increase Mao or make new characters and buff them enough to where they can help Mao/stand on their own.
HA! Don't think I'll be doing that any time soon, lol.
I would have gone for the 0 rarity sword but since the rest of my equipment is rarity 1, I wanted to keep the weapons the same. You get a boost if all equipment is the same rarity, right?
Each equipment on him has 8 19998 Gladiators on them to increase attack (except for the sword, which has 7).
How'd you level so fast? I'm at like 35 hours playtime and my highest level character is 58
Also, what's the best way to increase my movement range? Shoes only seem to give +1 and I feel like they're such a waste of a slot
I need to figure out how Honor Quotient works for the formula (and how HQ itself works) to see if some time can be saved. Right now, rough approximations are looking at being able to halve the Gency count assuming a >500 HQ. So there's that.
Why not a Fencer and Guardian? They're +500% to the stats of the Sword/Armor respectively and far, far, better than Gladiators here. To put it in perspective, a single 500 Guardian would mean your 3x maxed out Trapezohedrons (1,433,519 All Stats) now give you 8,601,114. Each. Before Aptitudes.

My HQ has been hovering around 240. Still not sure how you increase it.
So 8x500 Fencers in the sword and 8x500 Guardians in each trap? I stuck with Gladiator only cause I didn't do research into the other specialists. I blame too much Disgaea 1 for that, lol. Gladiator stuck with me.
I've seen you posting on GameFaqs and I'm impressed with how deep you go in the game in terms of all the math involved. Sometimes I read one of your posts and im like "wtf?" Haha, but I respect the work you put into figuring out all those things.
Maybe this is a stupid question, but what causes characters to level? Is it when they attack? Just being on the map during or at the end of a battle?
I'm unsure of how so much of this game works. It's remarkable how in depth it is. I'm at 2-1 and it's kicking my ass. I guess I should upgrade some of my gear/weapons.

A character gains EXP upon killing an enemy. In a team attack, each character gets 50% of the EXP.
There's also the bonus gauge, which rewards you with items, HL and EXP. All characters deployed at the end of battle gain the EXP.
Well how do you level your healers then? ;_;
Edit: also, can someone tell me the purpose of items having different categories(?) that are listed when you buy them? For example, this Kukri sword has Professional 2 and Sentry 6 listed beside it.

Finished the game. 37 hours, l98 Mao.
I didn't use 7-3 exploit (not big bang or upgraded magic), only a few times 5-5.
I think I'm gonna follow that 9999 level guide.
There are Rank 41 weapons now? How do you get them?
Steal from the LoC Item God of the Rank 40 Weapon.
If by "exploit" you mean the whole Level 99 thing, that's basically an intended feature. Honestly, due to the way the whole formula works out and all, I'm rather hard pressed to say that it's anything but intentional.
Yep, it's intentional (if not, it would have been fixed before Disgaea 3 PS3 was out on US), but is still a exploit.
...being able to kill the gatekeepers once, use door, enter, kill again, to extra-upgrade the items...
Almost two hours of reverse pirating and no Yoshitsuna yet. I'm giving up for the night. I hope Rank 39 weapons are easier to get in Disgaea 4. I wish there was a way to reset levels on items.
I assume you're already trying Lucky Finger on Chests? Besides that, not much to suggest besides Bonus Changing over and over.
DAMN! What a jump lol. Any other innocents worth putting? I know you said Professional is good. 1x100 is all I need, correct?
Ok, I don't want to screw Mao (or any other main character) doing reincarnations wrongly.
So... what should I do to optimize the reincarnations? Do class world as many times as necessary in all reincarnations (not before the first one, because Mao clones will rape me badly)? Do absorb characters as much as possible?
It's impossible to permanently screw up a character with Reincarnation.
I thought that you had a limit of 5 reincarnations with the "unique" characters. So, if I spend the reincarnations without boosting the character on class world, the final character won't be optimized, isn't it?
Does anyone know how much mana it costs to increase the movement range on a pair of shoes in the item world?
