Dishonored E3 Gameplay Walkthrough

Sleeper hit? Callin 2 mill sold ez ..

3 mill across all platforms

That would be nice but I would be surprised. Bethesda has kind of botched the marketing up to this point to the level that most of gaf doesn't even know what this is still let alone the casuals. Hell just look at this thread at how many posters here just learning of the game through E3, despite this having several preview rounds and a game informer cover story already.

I'd seen it, but had no idea what it was all about until today. Looks good though.

Yea marketing has been garbage.

I only found out about it a few days ago from here.

I predict crappy sales.

That Gamespot demo was great, I really enjoyed the action run after the stealth run. I hope that this sells well, I think it will have some nice buzz with the PC crowd for sure.

This game! Jesus, it flew right under my radar until yesterday and now that I'm watching this Gamespot interview it's like every word that comes out of the director's mouth makes me want it even more. Encouraging exploration and eavesdropping and reading everything, no-kill playthroughs, missions where you don't kill anyone and just schmooze in a swanky party. Just give me a Steam pre-order option so I have something to give my money to.

GameSpot demo was great. GS has the best live demos at E3 every year.

Going the action route seems fun. That bend time/razor combination was sweet. Think I'll stick to being non-lethal for my first playthrough though. I wonder how difficult it can be. Some of these abilities seem overpowered. Might just be for E3 purposes.

I hope it does well this holiday season. October is filled with heavy hitters though. :(

The gamespot demo is much better and they gave it enough time to really show itself off, I thought it looked amazing. Much better than the measly 4 minutes Spike gave them, that was just borderline disrespectful.

That's the problem with showing E3 on TV. It's great to have the press conferences, but live demos are almost always butchered due to time restraints.

Yeah, game demos feel rushed on Spike. The devs barely get any time to settle in. To be fair though, they have to fit in stupid commercials between segments. On GameSpot, there's enough time for a solid demo and a Q&A afterwards too. Dishonored got 18 minutes! It's pretty great to get that much exposure on one of the most popular gaming sites.

Gamespot demo has me ever so close to sold.

Anyone know how long the game is? I'm slightly disappointed at it not being openworld but if each level is expansive, I'll take it.

I'm glad its not multiplayer but I wouldn't have complained about co-op.

So let me get this straight... when a guard fires at me I can:

slow time -> possess guard -> position guard in bullet's path -> unpossess+unslow time => guard killed by his own bullet

And I can play the entire game without killing a thing?

Holy shit Day fucking 1!!!

Yet another game that turned into a day one purchase after watching some demos.

This E3 aint bad after all.

I willingly accept the French/French Canadians as owning the top tiers of game development today. Eidos Montreal stepped up with DXHR as their very first game, Ubisoft delivers consistently despite also making games like Imagine Babeezz, and Arkane has always been cool.

I welcome our new overlords. :)

For every Eidos Montreal, there's a Beenox.

Metal Gear's stealth has nothing on real stealth games. Just watch some gameplay videos, no kill runs is only one small part of this greatness.

What's up with the comotion? This ''kill no one'' thing happened in almost all Metal Gears.

Other games have done it as well, but it's not very common. For example, can you name any other games from the last year where this is even an option?

In a world of linear shooters, a game that allows for real choices is worth getting excited about.

My interest steadily builds with each new showcase, just keeps looking better and better with time. The possession mechanics and the other ways to mess with the NPCs fascinate me, I wonder how deeply those systems will interact and potentially interfere with each other.

The producer (?) demoing this game must get tired of all the Fish jokes.
"You're a loose cannon carp who doesn't play by the rules"?

I love that the game tracks how many innocents you've killed, it's always struck me as strong cognitive dissonance how people who have murdered hundreds by their own hand can emerge as heroes in videogame narrative. You should try to avoid and spare those who stand in your way for no other reason than duty.

Having played many real stealth games (I assume from previous posts you would be the kind of person championing Thief, Deus Ex as that category), I would say Metal Gear has its own equally awesome take on stealth.

God damnit game journalists. Either ask better questions or please be quiet. It's really frustrating to see them sort of just act impressed at everything that happens just out of politeness. It's disrespectful to the developers and is really transparent. This game looks really cool and I don't need a journalist saying 'wow' every 10 seconds to prove it. I need some legitimate questions that allow me to understand the game more.

Journalism is designed to keep its subjects honest. It remains a critical eye for the consumer/viewer. When game journalism just panders to to the games themselves, it's no better than advertising. Nothing exists to keep the games honest. They can get away with a lot more. Sorry for the possible derail.

But yes, game does look really slick.

Magically fusing with a fish to gain entry to where you need to be.

Okay.

I mean, the spells looked incredibly inventive, especially the rats. And having your target kill himself for you.

But the fish is what made this a Buy.
