Disney about to purchase all of Sony for Spider-Man rights?

All of Sony for the Spider-verse?

Yeah I aint buying it, thats a shit ton down like we are talking well over 50 billion dollars...even if every Spiderman movie made a billion dollars going forward they would need to make over 100 of them to make their money back?

If anything they offer Sony a couple billion dollars for the Spider-verse rights back, buying the whole company at the size that Sony is....well thats a drastic measure to say the least.

Too big really for disney to buy, maybe a part like the movie studio or some sort of merger.
Unlikely though, probably just want spiderman

Won't happen, but if Disney wanted to they could buy Sony. It would be a hell of a chunk out of their piggy bank though, if the figures on the net are any indication of the respective net worths.

Nothing stops the mouse. This much we have learnt. Just pray it doesn't look your way.

With the retard brain of Jim Ryan... Im kinda scare
that would require sony group going along with it, I guess a merger could be possible (disney has like 3x the market cap of sony), but again that would require sony groups cooperation, and the Japanese government to be like, yeah that seems ok

Disney cant buy Sony lol. All they can keep trying is to make a deal with Sony for the Spider-Man rights like they did in the past, ofering 4-5 billion but Sony kept the rights.

Disney and Sony has been fighting for Spider-man rights for years.

They wouldn't buy out Sony. Maybe their movie division, but they wouldn't want the phone business, or the music as those are dying industries for Sony. Idk how their photography side is doing, but Disney wouldn't want that.

Yeah, buying all of Sony seems unlikely. Making a bid on Sony Pictures and their rights could definitely happen though, but even then Sony has been pouring abit of money into the anime part of that recently.....just seems unlikely

They will do everything they can to get Spiderman, anyone can see this.
They won't buy all of Sony for it. I think even buying the movie division is a stretch, would Sony sell it?

Disney could probably buy Sony outright, they have a massive market cap, like 3-4x that of Sony, depending...BUT you would have to be half past stupid to think this is real.
That being said, stranger things have happened.

Lol, no. Sony is sitting at roughly USD$122 billion right now. The last time these rumours did the rounds, the figure floated was USD$4 billion for Spider-man. Disney isn't paying USD$122+ billion for all of Sony, which would thrust them into a dozen smaller industries that they don't want to operate in.

The biggest acquisition you might see is Disney buying out Sony's movie division. It's not particularly profitable for Sony and Disney could use the content to bolster their Disney+ offering. However, with their acquisition of Fox, buying up Sony would start to raise anti-trust concerns, I believe.

Disney can't afford Sony's insurance and financial services businesses, where they make the bulk of their money.

From the article since OP couldn't be arsed to provide context:

We were unable to learn the specifics of what Disney is offering Sony. At this point, they are exploring what it is they'll have to do. This is something the two companies have explored in the past, and are now inevitably revisiting. This makes sense considering that Sony is likely very reluctant to give up their Spider-Man rights.

It sounds like Disney is possibly offering to buy out Spider-Man rights, or buy Sony's film division, although our source said they are considering buying Sony, which doesn't rule out a merger/acquisition.

I highly doubt Disney can buy Sony, a Japanese company protected by the Japanese government itself. But them buying out the entire film division seems to be something that is likely.

Wonder if Sony will cave in given that Spider-Man is tied to Insomniac's game and it's sold a bejeesus amount of money :goog_unsure:

They are just after Spiderman rights. Sony could sell them back at a huge profit and also include some exceptions for the games.

Japan DGAF.

You don't throw cash at their public companies or do hostile takeovers, without government approval, which is close to not happening. This has even lesser chances than Nvidia buying out ARM which the UK is thinking of blocking fearing anti-trust issues stemming from Nvidia.

This is the winner right here. This is the only thing that needs to be exclaimed. Japan would never allow this with stringent, merger laws/foreign takeover.
