Finally finished the game. Loved it. It's a solid 8/10 game. The combat, while not feeling as if it has too much depth to explore, was incredibly fun the first time through, but the levels, while looking good, simply equated to pretty floating corridors in majority. There were areas that allowed bits of exploration, like The Order HQ, but actually diverting from the path never felt all that rewarding. Instead of keys, lost souls, and doors, NT should have played to their strength and rewarded the player with extra bits of characterization/narrative along with the former mentions, because the game felt odd in the department as is.
I forget who it was on here that said it felt as if the characters acted on constant impulse, not rational motivations, and they were spot on. Orders were accepted within minutes, and shit just happen. There wasn't much of a build-up, or tension, to any particular scene--feeling like the majority of development happen off-screen. Which is incredibly disappointing, as the character skeletons they have here were pretty good. Dante, Kat, Phineas, even Vergil.
I look forward to what else NT has in store for the series.
