Do Sim Racers bore anyone else

I obviously respect Forza for what it is, but I dont feel like I get a sense of speed from this game. Maybe I'm not hardcore, but it just doesn't seem that fun.

I guess I'll stick with F-Zero.

Yes. Stupid thread.

Says the author of Favorite Toothbrushes

Anyway, I also find the bulk of simulation racers to be somewhat boring. Although not as technical or accurate, I prefer the arcade racers such as Burnout, OutRun and Test Drive, to name a few. I'd like to see a sim racer that gives optional arcade-style controls, but i doubt that'll ever be done.

Yeesh, tough crowd. I'd hardly consider myself a failure, but I guess I don't need to waste my time with an opinion...I'll save that for my job on the hill.

That thread was so awesome. Under-appreciated genius, is all.

Stupid to start a genre-hating thread with any really substantive comments. Had the originator been serious, he/she should have made an effort explaining why he doesn't like sim racers, or why he likes arcadey ones better. That would have somewhat justified the click, my time, and my response.

"Sim Racers are boring, but I respect what they try to do."

Great. Stupid thread.

I think that was the point. I equate racing with speed, I don' get that from this game.

...and what I heard, "Forza sucks becuase everytime I tried to go 400MPH the sharp turn buttons makes me fly off the track".

I guess that was my direct quote, right. At least if I am going to go 400 mph, make the car get more than a few scratches. How about a sim game where the car is no drivable after a head on collision at 140 mph.

I see your point, we all knew it with the avatar.

Forza does suck though. ;p

I generally like any racing game that emphasizes driving technique. Some sims games do it well (Gran Turismo 4), some arcade games do (Ridge Racer, Wipeout), some don't (Burnout, Need for Speed).

Very good, though silghtly more forgiving than Forza/GT4, it is still a sim with realistic speeds. (60fps!)

I got PRD2 and was put off by the frequency of changing cars--in the first hour or so of play I must have played nearly a half dozen different types of cars and never got a chance to get a feel for any of them.

PRD2 (TOCA2) is still my overall best sim racer this gen, can't wait for TOCA 2006.
As for the sense of speed, i also felt that lack in Forza. Sense of speed is better in GT4 and TOCA2. Especially GT4 by the way. Racing an F1 on the straight version of Sarthe circuit almost gives me the creeps!

PGR 2 is an arcade like racer.

Tks, i made a mistake. My post is edited now. PGR2 was a nice racer until TOCA2 came out though. PGR2 was really in-between arcade and sim style imo. Kudo system still owns even today.

I just put a Drivatar on to race for me in Forza so I could go make popcorn so I can play some more Forza. Some people get addicted to Tetris.. I got addicted to racing games.
