Do you ever just feel too tired from every day life to play games?

My gaming has gone down significantly, but that's just from being busy. I don't sleep much so generally I catch up then. Casually playing the Wonder Boy remake and Mass Effect (like just a few hours a week), but just in the past year I was hooked on the Witcher 3, Titanfall 2, Overwatch, and Breath of the Wild. If I'm awake and everybody else is asleep, I'm probably gaming for an hour or two.

We have a baby in the house right now so I'm not playing much, but when she eventually settles into a steady sleep schedule then I'll be right back at it.

Definitely. I started playing again a few days ago after almost a month of not turning on any of my consoles. I had the time, but it was a mentally tiring period, so I preferred doing other things (watch movies/tv shows, go out with friends, read) instead of gaming.

Also, I needed a break after the insane amount of must buy games we had between November and March.

Of course, all the time since I have 3 small children, work and wife:)

Several times I plan to play but don't have the energy for it, either because I'm exhausted from everyday stuff or because time flies and it's already "too late" since I need to get up early the next day.

Sometimes. And on some days I'm just too tired for action games or shooters and stick to slow games like Point&Click adventures or RPGs with lots of dialogue.

I would say I do, but I'm pretty sure the main reason I'm too tired to play games at this moment is because I've been getting poor sleeps the past few nights due to staying up too late playing games, so it's really not due to every day life.

yes. there are know about two or three days a week I actually feel up for gaming. part of that is due to the type of games I like. but, yeah, most of the time I'd rather read about games like on here, or watch reviews or whatever.

Every night I get off works and it sucks. I usually just come home and pass out in front of the TV watching Netflix. 2nd shift really sucks. However, I think the Switch will be able to fix that problem for me when some more games come out that I enjoy. Kicking back in my bed playing Zelda in portable mode is awesome, even while exhausted.

Portables in bed used to be so fun.

Now it's like a two minute thing and I wake up in the morning and find it on the floor. :(

I played no games for 6 weeks. Instead i go out and have dinner, do sports and meet friends. I think it is because of the asian culture.

It's why I'm thinking about selling my PS4 and getting a Switch. Easier to pick up and play for a bit.
The Switch essentially saved gaming for me. Combined total of 3:30 / 4 hours of commutes and 9 office hours every single day. By the time I get home I barely have time to eat and sleep.

Those long commutes went from hell to heaven right around March 3rd this year.

Yes. That's why I don't play for resting my mind but for re-focus it on something else, i.e.: When I'm creatively blocked, stressed, I don't want to do my work atm, etc.

I wanted to complete my daily 42 km in GT Sport to get yesterday's free car. Started at 11.40 pm, and couldn't complete one single lap because I kept falling asleep and waking up in every corner because I had bumped into the wall. Went to bed at 0.10 am without a new car :(

I didn't think my time with games would have changed much when I became a full-time worker.

Now I'm tired after work. Whenever I get the urge to play a game, I kind of procrastinate and do more relaxing things. (or playing Rocket League lol)

For me it's just the thought that I have to wake up early for work the next day that turns me off.

I can only game on Friday nights and on the weekend... haha.

Absolutely, other than games like Hearthstone and Shadowverse, the majority of my gaming time is at the weekend. It never used to be like that, but as I get older...

Lmao at every other post being "yes, that's why I'm on Gaf right now"

That's also why I'm on Gaf right now

I leave the house at 7am and not back until 7.30pm but the time I get set for the next day and make dinner it's 8.15pm.

I then have a backlog of TV as well as games to get through.

Then by the time I do all by bits and pieces on Saturday morning I am usually dozing while I am playing. I don't know how many times Ryder was running against a wall as I was dozing.

Basically every day. Life is busy, draining, and shitty. My backlog has gotten fucking stupid, and I am not making head way. I love being a parent but it kind of takes it out of ya.

All the time. Often I come home after a long day and just lay down on the couch with some random TV on. Or I'll play some rocket league with friends or a sports game. Sometimes it's a challenge to get myself to focus on a great single player game. Horizon kept me coming back though.

OP - the only more frightening scenario is when you have a day off to "rip into that fat backlog" only to realize you have no interest in playing games that day.

no problem here, even though i have kids and responsibility ... guess i consider myself lucky to work only 20-25 hours per week as a freelance web developer

so i have plenty of time to play game

Sort of, playing Persona 5 means I'll have to invest at minimum, a couple of hours to have some progress.

Sometimes I don't have the energy for that.

Yeah, a lot. Normally I get at night if I am not lazy but other than that wheni get home from I just wanna lie down

Finally...a support group!! Been having the exact same recently, motivation to play has dropped right off, hoping E3 reignites my interest as I love reading about all the rumours etc just have limited time to play anything now so interest just low!

I did until I got my Switch. Even though I am in front of the TV I just lay on the sofa and play in handheld mode. More relaxing somehow.

Not very often, but sometimes I am too tired to play games, or at least certain kinds of games.

What does happen often enough is I'll finish work, along with a game project I'm working on, and I'll have 1 maybe 2 hours to play something, and that just doesn't feel like enough time to get much done in single-player games. Sometimes I'll just play some short session multiplayer game, browse the internet, watch Netflix or just work more in Unreal tweaking stuff.

Yeah. During tax season I pretty much only play games on Sunday mornings. Mon - Sat I'm working from like 7:40am to 8:30-10pm. My eyes are so strained by the end of the day I can't even game if I want to. Audiobooks and podcasts are my friends.

I'm right there with you guys. Between work and my 3yr old, Im always so exhausted. Pile on the millions of shows I watch, it leaves like 2-3 hours of actual gaming at night.

Absolutely and always. If it wasn't for my buddy coming over every once in a while (we recently replayed Dante's inferno) i'd play like one highly anticipated game in an alarmingly short time, and then let the PS4 collect dust for half a year. work is tiring...

Yup all the time, then at somepoint i'll get a burst of energy at a weekend or when im on leave from work and play, then maybe not play again for weeks at a time

some days, of course, but others I'm diving in head first

ain't no thang

my signature move is to turn on destiny and then fall asleep while in orbit, because the music lulls me to sleep haha

Only if the game is energy intensive. Multiplayer, Platinum style games, Dark Souls, that kind of thing.

I'm pretty sure you could put a Nintendo game in my hands if I was in a coma and I'd play it, though.

I often find myself just throwing on some marvel Netflix show, I sometimes just can't focus on a game. I still haven't beaten AC: Unity, Alien isolation and many others.

Multiplayer co-op games though when my usual friends are online can get me gaming

I'm glad that other people also have this first world problem.
If it's getting late I just start Netflix and watch some light-weighted content like Family Guy or The Office.

There's also a difference in games, I played way more Overwatch than let's say Horizon lately, just because I know how Overwatch plays and feels. With Horizon I'm trying to beat a boss and it's just to tiring to think of all the possibilities and stay concentrated for that long.

Yeah.

My university studies are only taught at the evening shift. Which means that I have class from 3pm to 7-9pm. Which means I have little free time in the morning. Which means by the time I'm back home (at 9.30pm) I just want to relax a bit and watch some series.

And, in order to not feel like I've wasted the day, I go to bed late more often than not (I mean, when you get back home that late, you aren't going to bed at 11pm).

Which means that I wake up at 9am. After half an hour of breakfast, I mostly have 3-4 spare hours to do everything before going back to university.

God, evening shifts at uni are the worst.
