Do you have a short attention span?

I usually have a few games going at once, but never two long games at the same time I also play a diverse range of games at any given time. For example I finished Avowed this week and have moved onto Expedition 33. I'm also playing COD WWII, Astrobot and Mariocart World in the side which I'd consider pick up and play. This works for me and usually ensures I complete what I play. Unless I really don't like a game.

Also a good dose of will power not to jump ship to the new shiny game that just released.

No, I'm locked in all the time on a single game. Videogames are serious business, we don't joke around here.

No. I stick with the 2 sometimes 3 games I start until I finish them. Never more, because that would ruin the enjoyment of said games. I get that some ppl play games just to play/waste time, but I play them to enjoy them and immerse myself in their story, if they're good. Playing more than 3 diminishes that immersion.

My attention span was starting to get frustratingly worse as I got older just being online a lot.

I dropped most short-form content on social media in favor of longer form stuff and podcasts. Combine that with just reading more books/manga, and my attention span went back up again.

It helped me having more patience for longer games, though I still will drop games if I can tell they're just padding things out or if it's open-world fluff.

do you tend to stick with games all the way through once you start them? or are you someone who jumps between a bunch of games and only finishes a few?

I'm finding as I get older, my attention span is only getting worse. which is surprising to me, I always thought it would get better the older I get.
I am still like this now but it just depends on what game I'm playing. The game I'm playing have to really pull me in, or I will lose interest in it real quickly. The Last Of Us series I was playing those games non stop that series have a good story from start to finish.

Games like Killing Floor 2, Borderlands, and these other shooters games I tend to get bored real quick due the the tedious leveling up, not a good story, and the bs micro transactions that some of those games require you to buy in order to progress, and ect.

My attention span for certain games is only getting worse as I tend to play them. I will also be picky when it comes to playing certain games as well. I remember those days of me playing a game then falling asleep on it lol.

I used to basically never finish games, unless they were very short.

as I got older that changed a lot.

but I still play a shotload of stuff simultaneously... but I usually finish them all... unless I really fucking hate the game, but even then, I forced myself to finish GoW Ranganrök because it's god of war... absolutely dogshit game tho.

I used to have a problem finishing single player games because sports and shooters would always draw me back in and take up my time. I have bought a sports game in over 7 years and finally gave up for shooters (next Battlefield might get me though) and having a lot more fun finishing games now. My PlayStation back log is so big with great games over the years and my gaming time being minutes, Expedition 33 is probably the only game I buy this year that came out in 2025.

Perhaps but I'll never understand when true low attention span players play an RPG game and start hating on it because it has "too much text"

Like what else would you expect from the genre?

It's not my attention span so much as time management. Even if like a game, if I get 40 hours and it's not finished, I may just say "I came, I saw, and I moved on". Then ill shelve it and maybe come back, maybe not.

I've jumped into horizon fw like 3 times because I drag it out so much collecting little dino bits. The game is fun, but sa.ey, and I don't really care what happens in the story so it's a perfect example.

I started Indiana jones a few weeks ago. Miscalculated a bit because I didn't realize how long it would be, and ds2 came out well before I was done. I have a four day weekend so I'm dropping everything for that. Not even a matter of time management, there. The fun with indi had tapered off somewhat and I knew I'd be having a more memorable experience playing death stranding so I jumped.

Idk, it's not that hard for me. Never going to play them all so I feel fine cutting them off if I'm not getting the density of experience for my time.

Attention span though? Nah.

I stick with a game right up to the end. Depending on how long I've been playing, I'll try and then finish up the trophies before moving onto something new. Otherwise, I'll put it aside for a while, and come back to it later.

Actually my attention span is gotten better over the years or at least I think I have trained myself to be better at it. I used to play shit-tons of games as a teenager and barely ever completed any. Now I do play more than one game at a time, but eventually I complete pretty much everything that I like. I also can watch a movie like Sátántangó with only taking little pee and snack breaks but I cant imagine surviving even 20 minutes of that as a 19 year old.

As I got older, 1 game on the go only. I either finish it or give up and move on. The odd exception might be jumping into a DLC or expansion for something like Outlaws. Then back to my main game.

I used to have an MMO or Diablo or a sports game along side a console game, but not any longer.

I was just thinking about this today actually, I was so engrossed in Everquest from 1999-2004, then WOW and FFX from 2004 to 2010, then DCUO in 2011, then FFXIV, I missed so much of the world. I didn't get a PS3 at launch, didn't even know there was a Batman Begins move. I felt like Robin Williams 'What year is it' when I put down the MMO's ;)

I always start a game then get stuck at some boss and stop playing the game because I don't have time to git gud. Or I start a game and forget about it, when a shiny new game is released.

I guess I'm getting old.

I have the attention span of a hamster, but if a game is a true stand out then it'll suck me in completely. For example, I've beaten Blasphemous three times now all the way through, and I've kind of been wanting to play it again at some point. If a game is truly outstanding or unique, then I'll always end up going back to it.

Recently I play in the evenings. It totally depends on what I do in the game

(totally quick and random, i made this, what do you think of this? if not allowed delete this)
