Do you miss when gaming used sex to sell games?

Common sense is back, and politcal climate has change. There were reports that E3 might be back and we might see again beauty for biological women and masculity for men be back.

Booth babes were legitimately uncomfortable at events. Cool to look at in gaming magazines, but so awkward in person. Wouldn't recommend.

In the games themselves, though? Hell yes. Give me more.

To answer your question, I honestly wasn't a fan of booth babes back when I went to E3. I mean, beyond the idea that there are attractive people there who are meant to attract you to the booth.

But it always felt forced and awkward in the gaming industry, especially when you were being demoed something by a person who clearly knew nothing about the game.

I always preferred when I got to talk to the actual game devs (or, hell, at least the marketing team) when trying new stuff. Like, I was demoed Mortal Kombat 9 by Ed Boon himself, and that was WAY more informative than a hired model.

But I guess it doesn't matter either way anymore, since E3 is dead. 😢

Dont care much bout booth babes but i have a certain preference for female characters in my games.
No i dont need em all to look like 2b a2 or eve but i dont want em to look like all these other bad examples we know from games for "modern" audiences.

I cant believe how hard some studios fell off within less than a decade.Good example is Ubisoft. We went from this goddess

to whatever the fuck this is

within 6 years!!!

I got over 200h in Odyssey and i enjoyed most of em mainly thanks to Kassandra lol

Not really. Booth babes etc. were more awkward than effective, marketing-wise.

On the other hand, it's better than intentionally bucking beauty standards to appeal to... someone. I have no idea who.

Booth babes has always been cringe. But if you create a great game AND it happens to have some lovingly crafted babe(s) in it, I'll certainly not hold it against the game. 😁

I miss fast food commercials with hot women
I just miss the 90s and early 2000s. Seemed like we were on the best timeline for about 20 years from the late 80s till about 2008. Although to be fair, Asian financial crisis was awful, Japan fumbled to all fucks into the lost decade, and of course 9/11 and Afghan/Iraq misadventures before and after.

Still, Soviet Union eased up and then fell apart. Germany unified. China was undergoing reforms. A lot of countries seemed to have started doing much better.

And here we are in 2025… and a lot of things seem to be going to shit.

Allowing the cancellation of booth babes was to the Woke movement as the Munich Agreement was to WW2.

We have to bring them back and with bigger honkers than ever before, and we have to dedicate ourselves to never letting this happen again.

I was lucky enough to attend E3 at a good time.. before whatever this is talking about, before the death of it all as well.. I liked E3 and the entire hype cycle for products. Drip feed kind of sucks, scarcely a megaton to be found.

Hell no. Always thought it was cringe as fuck. You could always tell those chicks didn't want to be there, and i don't need me some tits to sell on a game.
You realize that "Booth Babe" isn't a compulsory job right? They applied for and interviewed for the position in some way, even if just for their looks. There was no 2005 Booth Babe Draft.

As others have said, now a woman with that mindset is just in Onlyfans selling pics of their anus for $2 a month. Is that more respectable?

Anyways, I think it should let the market decide, not try to appease the moral pearl clutchers out there. If people didn't support sexy in both advertisement and in-game content, so be it. But we all know that this isn't the reason it's all gone now.

Yes not actually booth babes specifically but when having sexy characters in game were considered perfectly normal as it should always be. The world was a lot more sane and thick skinned a couple of decades ago or before so normal things like having sexy characters were normal. Only certain characters within the last few years not counting gachas from certain series like Resident Evil and Final Fantasy Remale/Rebirth stands out because they are hot compared to most of the other games with shitty character designs. It seems to be coming back at least with Stellar Blade, Tides of Annilation etc.

It's not just sexy too, it's also the fun kind of sexy back then combined with fun humors. These days even if there's a hot character, they don't act as fun and ranchy at the older days.

I do believe that their asshole for $2 is a better deal, yes.

When you watch porn, you want to see ass. When you go to the restaurant, you don't want tits in your face, you're there to eat a meal. When you're watching a gaming conference, you're there to see games, no tits covering gameplay. It's pretty simple.

Yes, let's hope there's a big change in the western elites and ends wokism (a.k.a. part of their social engineering to reduce population).

I couldn't care less. I don't buy a game for sex appeal nor do I care if a company tries to sell a game using sexiness, just as I couldn't care less about things like OFs either yet see so many up in arms about it. I've never understood though how some are OK with companies exploiting sexiness and attractiveness to sell shit but then turn around and lambast an individual for selling sexiness and attractiveness on their own. Do you like the commercialisation of sexy content or not?
