Used to play way more local multiplayer on console, but these days most of the bigger games marketed around consoles (barring Nintendo) are single-player or online games.
So it's pretty much inverted to PC. I can stream from my office desktop into the living room pretty easily at my own place. If I go to a friend's place, I can either bring my laptop or my Steam Deck depending on the games, and Steam Input pretty much works with any controller under the sun.
Indies and fighting games are the only thing bringing out local multiplayer anymore, so it's that or playing older games. Beat 'em ups are the easy go to since anyone can play like Streets of Rage 4, TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, etc.
