Looks like somebody is going to be shaving their balls ass and face tonight! In no particular order, of course.

This sounds like a lot of bitching about nothing. So what, they take pictures of you when you pick up a product.

How is this any different than a store attendant watching you closely while you shop? Neither is boycott worthy.

Gilette razors/blades are one of the most shoplifted products.
I'm sure these things are just being used for security/logistics.

Unless....

wtf? Why even bother with a site like this? It's not like Gillette is putting stuff in your food if you decide to buy Wilkinson one day.

Thats interesting, we had a debate about RFID's in school regarding this exact issue. With Wal-Mart demanding that its top 100 suppliers begin using them its really brings up the ethical issue of privacy. Once you have a products with these chips in your house whats going to stop companies from driving by your neighbourhood scanning houses for the products you own. Unless there's a limited range for the scanners that is. Does anyone know much about this?

I don't know about that particular site but the issue is really old. Spywareinfo.com covered it nearly two years ago, for example. I remember reading that some stores were tracking when someone picked up a product and if they didn't purchase it they would have a security guard pat them down or strip search them or something... well, maybe not to that extreme but that was the general idea. How true it is/was I'm not sure, and I can't even remember where I read it, so take it with a grain of salt.

"Whenever a shopper picks up a packet of razor blades from a spy shelf, SNAP! A hidden camera secretly takes a closeup photo of the shopper's face. (And a second photo is snapped at the cash register to make sure the product is paid for!) "

But what if you pick up the razors and hand it to someone else to buy them.... the pictures won't match.......

Then they'll know you're really a Schick spy, and cut your throat with THREE blades.

The items are likely being tracked because razor blades are high value items for thieves. When I used to work in a supermarket, less than honest folk were known to hide packs of blades in packs of toilet roll for the purpose of stealing them. It wasn't long after that the packs were only available on request.

They'll never get me BWhahahahahaha...

Now I'm just tempted to pick up 50 of those little packs then drop them off in a different part of the store. :lol

Who the hell is getting paid to monitor these hundreds of thousands of images? What if you pick it up to take a look at it and then put it back down again?

What happens when everything is tagged in this manner and about 1 million pictures are taken per second? We're back to square one.

I'll stop buying stuff and get into the fetal position and slowly die.

Just opened up a new package that I bought on Tuesday.

No tracking device inside.
I was disappointed.

The whole point of RFIDs is that they're small enough to be embedded in anything. In the future, they went to embed them in clothing as a replacement for shoplifting security tags.

you know for a (mostly) tinfoil hat website, it looks sort of nice. Where are the high contrast colors and poor html tables?

I think these guys are getting some anonymous tips and some money to make their site (read:: schick;)
