DOA4 Gltiches :(

Anyone know if there's a proven workaround to avoid losing all your DOA4 data? My friend's been playing for the past two nights, unlocked everything, and this morning it was all gone. His achievements prove that he's earned the stuff, but the game's treating him as if he just started.

I've also encountered some bugs with Exercise in Practice Mode, specifically with Kasumi. One move requires the CPU to high punch for the move to activate, but as they don't punch ...you can't do the move or complete Exercise mode. Kinda annoying.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving DOA4, but these glitches kinda suck. I did a search and saw rumblings about a patch in mid-Feb, but there hasn't been anything else on that front. Help? Advice?

This is the new trend among fighting games. Tecmo is biting Namco's data erase/corrupt stylee.

Well, to be fair, Dead or Alive: Ultimate was doing this before SC3..

Silly question:

Did he confirm that he had the proper profile loaded? Was the profile loaded prior to starting the game?

The way the 360 handles the whole profile thing is flawed on a lot of levels. Heaven forbid playing games and making progress prior to hopping on to Live. 2 weeks of playing games and unlocking shit resulted in none of that progress showing up in my Live profile. In fact, I had to make a new profile just to get onto Live, leaving my old games saves in limbo.

Tell your friend to NOT turn on the 360 with the DOA4 CD inside. The problem is that the game save loads before your game profile loads, so it saves as if you had never done anything.

The only way around it that I know of is to turn on your 360 by pressing the eject button on the console if the game is already inside. Once the Dashboard is on the screen and you can tell your Gamertag is without a doubt signed in, close the tray.

No, HDD.

Yup. There's only three profiles on the machine, and mine's the only one with an Xbox Live tie-in.

No, his profile wasn't loaded prior to starting the game. Auto-sign in for ALL profiles have been disabled, as neither of us tend to use the 360 more than the other.

Interesting, I'll be sure to give this a try. It's annoying, but if it works ...

I've had my save erased before..

Haven't had a problem (yet) after following these steps from gamespot:

--
Tecmo technical support says to do the following: (1) With your copy of DOA4 already inserted, turn on your 360 by pressing the "open tray" button. (2) Wait until all the information from your Gamer Profile is fully displayed on your Gamer Card, including achievements and other awards. (3) Close the tray again with DOA4 still inserted. If problems still occur, e-mail Tecmo technical support at help@tecmoinc.com.

Thanks for the additional info. I'm just paranoid about playing in Vs. mode now - is it possible to load Player 2's profile from the dash as well, or can that only be done in-game?

I don't load other profiles when playing in Vs. mode anymore. However, if you want to do it, my suggestion would be to wait until you're at the game menu before loading in additional profiles.

In any case, hopefully this problem will be fixed whenever the patch is released.

you dont need to have any other profiles to play vs mode.

You don't, but if you do each person playing will have their individual stats tracked, and replays will show which profiles participated in the battle.

wtf? really? thats pretty awesome. I see buddy's complaint now :(

My game just froze on the loading screen as I attempted to go online.

And on one of Kokoro's moves in practice mode, you are instructed to hit PPP behind the enemy, but every time I attempted it nothing happened but the standard combo, and the demonstration shows her attacking from the front. Odd

Don't worry much about the game freezing online. It happens like 50 times a day to me.

My guess is that "behind the enemy" means that your character is supposed to have their back facing the enemy, not the enemy facing its back to yours. You'll have to do some kind of move to get yourself facing the wrong direction.

That might be it. The demo sucks in that it shows the whole move in about a second, with no animation other than her punching (other 3D games show you were you're supposed to stand usually)

I've had it freeze on me once during one of the game engine cutscenes(played through the part right after and it was fine) and it kind of stuttered once during Zach's ending. Not sure how much of a common occurrence offline freezing is though.

You don't? Does that mean you can actually use the characters and costumes you've unlocked? It always makes me at least use a 'guest' profile for player 2, and we get default characters only. I thought I'd have to re-do everything I've done under another profile to, for example, play in Vs. mode with the Spartan.

^^^^^
Yeah, you can play with only one profile and both players will have access to all characters and costumes. I played 2P offline for the first time last weekend, and it took several attempts to figure out what needed to be done for it to work, though.

I think the game froze on me once during offline play, but it's a bit hard to remember as I've been playing online-only for so long. The game generally freezes once or twice on me every time I play online matches, but lately I haven't been having this problem quite so much. It generally seems to "crash" after a match has played and the stat screen comes up showing the next person in the match; the game will either freeze right before this screen and I have to reboot, or it seems that another player's system has crashed and you have to back out of the game and go back to the lobby.

Some people think it may be related to hitting the Xbox guide button during these screens; I don't know if that's true, but I avoid it at the stats screen just in case.
