Does Anyone Else Like Thunderstorms?

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
I don't know how people feel about rain and thunder but I personally love it. They have a storm outside right now.

Video games with realistic thunder and rain storms really feel great. Nice and soothing. One great example is when the storms coming rolling in on Elder Scrolls Morrowind and other ES games post Morrowind.

Do they feel good for you as it does for me?

yep. Rain, thunderstorm, snowstorms are the best.
Especially when it's night and you are sitting and playing video games.

In games same deal honestly. I especially like overcast weather in gaming.
Like Uncharted 4 island level when thunderstorm approaches. BEST IN CLASS

Or recent ac shadows.
HOLYYY the wind picking up

It could be better in BOTW/TOTK. There's too much lightning hitting everywhere, been hit twice in my current playthrough of TOTK (even with weapon put away).

I was on holiday in Sorrento with the missus, probably around 18 years ago now, and there was a pretty epic thunderstorm one night. I was really struggling to get to sleep because the storm was close and fairly relentless. Anyway, I remember there was a bright flash of light, and before my eyes could adjust, I briefly saw three disembodied heads hovering above me. They kind of looked like pirates, with missing teeth and scars.

The missus found me sitting on a towel outside the bathroom when she woke up. I didn't want to get back in bed! 😅

I tell myself now that I was probably half asleep, so must have been half-dreaming, but it was pretty vivid at the time. Now thunderstorms cause me a bit of anxiety, especially if they are during the night.

I still love in-game thunderstorms though. Ghost of Tsushima had decent thunderstorms.

I'm currently playing Sleeping Dogs Definitive on PC and I enjoy the rainy weather. It adds something to certain cutscenes. I also enjoy the atmosphere and look when driving around in the rain

Sure, I loved them…..and then a tornado got DANGEROUSLY close to my home a few years ago. Like, houses only half a mile away from me were completely wrecked, luckily there were no fatalities as it only touched down briefly IIRC, but still. Being in a basement hearing 100+ MPH winds outside and then hearing my mom break down in tears as she calls me and I answer and tell her I'm all right, yeah, that changes your perspective on things.

Now thunderstorms can kindly fuck off (yes, I know thunderstorms don't always result in a tornado, but they certainly don't help), and anyone wishing for them sounds like they might as well be hoping they get to play Russian Roulette to me. Calm and collected weather for me, thank you very much.

Surely you must've had something else metal out, like a shield, or been near something metal in the world, otherwise mad bad luck if it actually hit you by complete chance, and twice at that.

Nope, both times I got hit while gliding.
I'm guessing the game tries to avoid hitting players, but if you fly all bets are off.

I AAAAABSOLUUUUTELY love thunderstorms.

They were gorgeous in RDR2, but just too short once they happened unfortunately.

The ones in BotW were also beautiful and it was very cool how it was incorporated into an item mechanic as you could draw lightning towards your enemies with metal weapons. I hope they make the weather a much bigger factor in the next Zelda or even force you to take shelter during an especially bad storm.

Love Thunderstorms IRL as long as im in safety and especially in Videogames.
A good Thunderstorm in game can completely change my opinion on a games graphics and sound design.

I even used to make gifs way back when of good thunderstorms, then Minus went under and took all my gaming gifs with it, some i saved on Photobucket.........and that went to shit so ive only got a few left.

Just Cause 2 created in like 2011.

I liked it back in my college days coz some females were really scared of them, which meant pure profit for a guy like myself :P
I stopped liking t-storms back in 2018 when it fried my pc's moderboard(luckily was just mobo, other components were fine).

I'm cofounder for one of the top sleep apps, and among all the stories, sounds, meditations etc, thunderstorms is consistently one of the top pieces of content. People love it, it's soothing.

The first time I played A Link to the Past at launch, it was incredible. I could hear the rain, thunder, Link's footsteps, and background music all at the same time.

I think you had some visitors from "John Carpenter's The FOG" movie. :messenger_open_mouth:🏴‍☠️

I am a rain man .
Thunderstorms damn. feels so god, stress relieving.

Speaking of games. only few of them gave me the feeling of the real thing.
Splinter cell chaos theory, Last of us rain level , RTCW / Wolfenstein enemy territory ( Würzburg Radar map)
& some need for speed games etc

Not particularly thunderstorms, but I love rain - it's my favorite weather condition. I can take or leave the thunder and sometimes I like to go out in the rain, so if it's a lightning storm I don't feel as great about it. So for me - I prefer just pure rain. I also really enjoy hurricanes and tropical conditions, I'll go out to the coast before/during/after landfall if it's coming nearby if I'm able, take photos and video and just enjoy that raw natural power.

Outlast had a great thunderstorm level where you were exploring the courtyard in pitch black darkness and the lightning would light up the whole yard. Love it!
You could use the nightvision of your camera but why would you do that :)

Also one of the reason i loved E3 conferences because it used happened in the rainy period.
Eating breakfast , raining outside and watching E3 conference. beautiful memories

How can Quiet breathe when her skin is covered by rain? I always thought taking a shower feels like waterboarding to her.

Assassin's Creed Shadow's has some of the most realistic thunderstorms I've seen in a game. The lightning is literally what happens when you're in a thunderstorm at night.

This type of weather adds a very powerful element to the atmosphere and mood of the game, and can somehow make things more peaceful in certain games and create an impending sense of doom and an ominous feel in others.

I think I lean more rain and distant thunder than a full on thunderstorm at my location.

Still very nice most of the time.

BotW has some cool functional thunderstorms.

For aesthetic thunderstorms, the best game that I've personally played through would have to be Red Dead Redemption. I remember being a little awed during that one cattle driving mission on the 360.
