I was ordering Animal Style back before when everyone knew what that was.

This is the first I've heard of it. What exactly is it and where do you order it at?

In n Out Burger has a couple secret "off menu" items. Now they are mostly known but 20 years ago they werent as well known AND In n Out had less locations than they do know.

Animal Style means extra sauce and fried onions.

They have a lot of other secret stuff, all easily googleable now. One thing I like is a "Lemon-Up" (half lemonade and half 7-Up).

Now that apps are becoming normal, it’s easier to build your own stuff. For example, I used to love the Spicy Tostada at Taco Bell until they got rid of it. Now I order a crunchy taco sub out the beef for refried beans and add chipotle sauce. It tastes the same, but just a bit more expensive. At least the Mexican Pizza is coming back! You can’t fake that.

Yeah, NorCal here and I've never seen that secret menu printed out at any of the sit downs here. That looks to be something from reddit.

We did know about that menu a ways back though, plenty orders of animal style fries, double doubles, and four bangers.

Not a great hack or anything, but you know when you go to the food court and order a combo which is probably your choice of: 1 meat, 1 carb, and 1 veggie for $9.99 from like 20 steel trays of selection?

Maybe I've been too lazy for all my life, but maybe just 5 years ago, I decided just to ask if I can split carbs 50/50 or veggies 50/50 with other similar shit so I have more variety in my styrofoam container. Most will say ya. They wont split meat. But most places will split you on stuff at no charge.

So instead of getting chicken, rice and vegetable medley, I'd get chicken, rice+potatoes and corn+medley.

I dont think many people know this (or maybe they dont care), since I rarely see people ask for their combo to be customized.

If you order the components of a McDonalds value meal from the kiosk individually (Drink, fries, burger) it's cheaper than straight ordering a value meal that had the exact same items in it.

I have never done it but my local Chinese restaurant has "secret" menu of "true" Chinese food that you can request. Apparently they are very different compared to the westernized stuff they otherwise serve and they don't advertise them at all. Mostly existing just for actual Chinese Tourists.

I can't be asked to memorize some random fast food chain's secret menu or some BS. Generally if it isn't on the menu it doesn't exist, and I'll go somewhere else that has what I want. Stupid practice.

Closest thing I can think of that I've done to this was while I was in Germany, they'd have "Currywurst" which is basically a simple sausage drowned in curry ketchup. They'd also have Käsewurst which was a sausage with cheese inside it. Most of the sausage stands there would have both, so I'd just have them combine it, saying Currykäsewurst and sometimes it'd catch them off guard but they'd do it, and it was amazing.

for a while tostadas were off the menu at taco bell but they could still make them. Then they came back on the menu, and now they're just gone :(

Not really a thing here in Japan, nor back home in the UK.

I do know a few local restaurants in the UK I could get something that wasn't on the menu, but that was either from asking nicely or knowing someone who worked there/owned the place. One of my friend's parents owned a Chinese takeaway, so we could get 'Chinese chips'.

Yeah, but don't you tend to have to order that in Chinese to get it? Though really I'd pass on the chicken feet or whatever features on it.

No idea. Have never used it like mentioned. Just heard from my sister that used to work there as a waitress that it exists.

McGangbang from McDonald's is the only thing, and I haven't done that in a really long time. Mostly done to get a laugh out of the cashier.

Double cheeseburger with a mcchickn patty in the middle I think it was.

I think you ask for Cantoneese style, it's food from the same ingredients but with out all the oily / sugary sauce dumped on it. You can just ask, it's not like it's just a secret thing for Chinese people only.

I loved the Quiznos Chicken Carbonara sandwich, but I took off the mushrooms and added tomatoes. It made it the best sandwich around. Sadly our last local Quiznos closed in 2019.....

Thanks to this thread, I went to In-n-Out and got Chili peppers for the first time, on my animal-style burger. I think I'll do it again next time. I'd prefer jalapenos though. I wasn't expecting little yellow chili peppers for some reason, but they weren't bad.

Most Quiznos have disappeared from my area too.

I'm not a sub guy to begin with so Quiznos and Subway are non-issues for me. But I never understood why Quiznos never took off. The times I had it it was awesome and much better than Subway, but I do remember the price was super high. A Subway footlong would be like $7 and a 9" Quiznos sub was like $11. Maybe that's the key turn off. It was for me and I barely eat subs even when they were big in the 90s.

I miss the Little Big Mac at Mcdonalds. I don't usually like Mcdonalds, but I like that sandwich. For some reason, getting a Big Mac isn't the same. And taking it apart would be a waste of money.

I remember Quiznos here opening a few branches in the city centre here, never ever saw anyone in them so never bothered. Always close to a Subway as well but you'd have loads of places pop up as a franchise as disappear just as quickly here.

As for Chinese/Asian food. The back of most Asian takeaways have the Chinese/Japanese menu on the last page of the delivery menu written in their own language but with a translation. I never got one as they sounded pretty grotesque, to me anyway. Chicken Curry or Satay, job done.

Went on a posh dinner for a date with the missus (early date) to an expensive Chinese restaurant in the city-center. A load of old women waving lingerie and dildos about. (Some kind of party, retirement or leaving, no idea).

Waiter nodded towards them and I asked him if he wears those. "NO! I GO COMMANDO!" in an authoritarian Asian tone. I nearly collapsed laughing with my date not getting what was going on. Did feel weird him serving my dish though but was so hilariously funny and random. Made my night. Food was just OK, frozen crap but I gave him some tip. I laughed all the way home trying to explain it to someone whose English wasn't good enough to get it (yet). *Double endtendres unintended but even funnier, was just so bizarre*

I always order in n out animal style, have been since before they opened up in the Bay Area 20 years ago or so. a friend came to visit from the east coast circa 2005 and I told him it’s better to order doggy style, and he tried to great comedic effect.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Came here to post about that too. My local McDs won't make it for me but...

Order a double cheeseburger and a mcchicken, it's like $5 for both. A giant sandwich that's much cheaper than anything else on the menu (for example, a Big Mac here is $9). I don't eat fast food any more though - it's too expensive and it's super bad for me.
