Does Azureus have a memory leak?

I havent have problems with Azereus but I stopped using bittornado since it was using too much memory. In task manager it showed only about 50-60 megs but when I closed bittornado, anything from 300 to 500 megs of physical memory was freed. Stupid memory leaks...

Let me guess, you upgraded to the new 2.3.0.0 version.

You need to update your Java. Don't go to the Java homepage to grab it, they still have an older version on their link. Grab the Java install that's on the Azereus web page.

For whatever reason, some Azereus updates demand that you upgrade java or else it sucks up CPU cycles and memory.

I'm actually running 2.1.0.4 because 2.2.0.0 and up would never connect to any torrents for me.

And I've got Java 1.5.0

As for BitTornado, I don't really like it for several reasons:
When I close it out, the program doesn't leave my task manager
I've also got problems with memory leaks with it

The new version of Bitcomet is where its at now. I was a long time Azureus user but now have switched. Im getting great consistent dl speeds. Another good thing is that its not a memory hog.

Seconded for truth.

Azureus im using 2202 as 2300 slows my torrents to a crawl even after downloading the java update.

And 2300 seems to be downloading data even when im just sharing? It may only be 1kb a second but im not on unlimited to everything counts.

Ive never been able to get Bitcomment to work properly. I may have to give it another try.
Is there a site or section that explains how to get the best out of it?

Do NOT use Azureus 2.3.0.0. It has some major new features but is does not work. You could reduce the "Maximum numbers of connections per torrent" to 40. That might eliminate the problem but unfortunately 2.3 has many other big bugs.

Bitcomet breaks my router, i discovered the other week, i think it floods it with connections so nothing can get through, but i cant be sure because everything grinds to a halt so i cant even check the router logs.

Bittornado is the only client that works flawlessly for me.

Are you using SP2? It might be a known problem with the maximum simultaneous connections and there's a fix.
