Does bottled water have an expiration date?

OK. It sounds stupid, but this is a serious question. I'm thinking of converting my basement into a fallout shelter in the future. Not because I'm worried or anything, but I think it would be a neat project to do.

So, how long does bottled water last? And why I'm at it, does anyone else have their own fallout shelter? :D

Why would you possibly make a fallout shelter if you weren't worried? Make a cool treehouse or somthing, with lights and a mini fridge.

Cuz. A fallout shelter is cooler and is considered a treehouse for grown men. =P

Fallout Boy had a treehouse.

Grown men construct full service bars in their basements... not fallout shelters.

REAL men don't drink bottled water, they go to their local sewage dump and guzzle that shit down by the gallons. Then when the nuclear war begins, they'll be nuke proof, therefore elminating the need for a bomb shelter.

I heard that at one point it did because after a year little things from the plastic in the bottle would get into the water...

If the US is ever in danger of getting nuked its probably going to be downtown LA, NYC, DC, or some major urban center to maximize the kill zone.

If you are making a "panic room" basement just change your food/air/water every 6 months. If you have the cash to make it all armored and self-sustaining that would quite the basement.

It's "good" for 2 years as I recall, though technically bottled water never really goes bad.

Certain states have a requirement that all food and drinks have an expiration date, so it became a bottled water industry convention to list 2 years. They stamp it on everything, regardless of what state the product is going to. The biggest thing is that after 2 years, the minerals or whatever present in the water begin to settle, so you might notice a metallic taste or something like that in uneven proportions. Contamination from the plastic would take more than two years.

you guys are all wrong, real men drink their own piss so if they need to survive 30 days in the desert they can just keep going.

Real men keep drinking water until they become so overhydrated that they can piss in their mouths for an infinite amount of time like some fucked up water fountain.

What's that one movie where that couple is down working on their bomb shelter in the case that Russia nukes them, and a plane crashes into their house, but they think it's a nuke, so they stay down in the bomb shelter for 30 years waiting for the radiation to fully disperse? :lol
