What's the problem with that Kendrick lyric? Isn't that a positive message? People are so fucking dumb.
That's weird because when I listened to Run DMC back in the day I had a strong urge to nab some Adidas.Yes.
I heard Run DMC for the first time in 88 and just knew I had to spend the rest of my life hating women.

edit: Seriously though there is a conversation to be had about misogyny in hip hop, but judging by most of the replies here it'd go down as well as a discussion on the impact of the ubiquity of violence in video games would i.e. not very well.

If I am honest...they did ignite my love for Adidas.
Made in sweatshops by women.
Made in sweatshops by women.
I had to google Devourment but holy shit, those lyrics read like a parody of what evangelists think metal lyrics sound like. Ahahahahahaa!
People get really defensive about this but the fact is that hip hop does promote violence, homophobia, misogyny, and drugs to children.
Just because you cant understand what the fuck they're screaming, tho.Listening to death metal doesn't make me a murderer.
Self Disembowelment famBabykiller is the best devourment song.
I mean so does country and many forms of rock music.
Does listening to Taylor swift make you shitty at relationships?
Nicki Minaj tho
Focusing on women's looks is not misogyny by definition. Just as focusing on a man's ability to attain resources is not misandry.her lyrics have a big focus on women's looks
internalized misogyny
...I can see country *maybe* promoting misogyny, if calling your ex-wife rude names counts, but drugs?
About nazis or by nazis? Any person enjoying Mein Kampf is probably not quite right.
Only if listening to country or rock music makes you one too.
what are people's thoughts on songs like ether? it's widely considered to be the greatest diss track ever, but it is crazy homophobic. not sure how to feel when the title of such a song has entered popular lexicon.
