Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are exclusive to Xbox consoles for two years due to an agreement between Microsoft and Dolby

I figure this is a result of Sony creating spatial sound and using / leaning on their own audio tech.

Also I didn't know audio codec could be a timed exclusive...

this is hands down the most fucking retarded thing microsoft did.

way to fuck over people that paid a shit ton of cash for a dolby atmos set. 😂.

What does this mean
I figure this is a result of Sony creating spatial sound and using that leaning on their own audio tech.

Also Atmos is not a codec

They have had Dolby Vision and Atmos for more than 2 years already (Though Vision for gaming never got outside of the Insider testing) So why would they make this deal now?

I don't know if I buy into this one.

Dolby sucks. DTS sucks. Just dont interfere with my Sound and give me nice linear reproduction of Sound. Calibrating my setup for all those companies is the worst because they think its ok to Change the Sound a bit. It is Not...

Jesus fuck i am kinda salty about this.
because that means i won't be getting dolby atmos on my ps5 exclusive games any time soon.
And as much as i like the 3D headphones audio... i fucking hate wearing cans...

fuck 😂👌😂

Can't wait to play that 🤷‍♂️
Xbox could have used that money for time exclusives games and compete but decided to be clowns. Release some staff since you're not releasing games.

The source is Xbox.com, though I can't read French.

I don't think you were regardless. Sony doesn't seem interested in Dolby.

I'm not sure if DV will make much difference atm what i've seen so far for gaming. Hardly saw any difference between HDR and DV in comparisons.

Dolby Vision is a good "get" really as it's true dynamic hdr, rather than pre coded at the start.

But none of that matters for shit when HDR is very hit and miss in gaming anyway.

I'm surprised neither Sony or MS also use HDR10+.

You know that spatial sound is not a sony thing?
There's windows sonic also on Xbox ,created for Windows first in 2017,and after released on Xbox One

Using dolby marketing i think is becouse everyone know..and is well wiritten on tv packeges,tv trailers and ads...

If it's Microsoft it's bad, wrong on every way and anti-consumer 😤

If it would of been Sony it was cool and pro consumer 😎

Also works the other way round....

Rumours of Bioshock 4 being timed Playstaion Exclusive = Sony money hating
Ms buys entire Publisher and gains IP's they had nothing to do with building and making popular = Great purchase and business

LOL that is a new low from MS... what's next? making Samsung tv's timed exclusive to xbox ? wait... they actually could do this...

Would be pointless. Samsung don't use DV in their TV's. They're using their own HDR10+. Not sure what other brands use it, but they claim it's just as good and cheaper to licence.

They had Dolby Atmos and Spatial Sound since 2017. They also have their own 3D audio tech called "Windows Sonic" since 2015.

Something something… timed exclusives are bad something something… pro consumer something something…

I agree but it was just an example how I just see all this as petty console war. "oh you have an engine? well you can't have this one then"
