Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

Just so everyone knows 4.0-5398 fixed an issue with the scan visor in prime 2.

(The latest version is several ahead of this and retains said fix I just wanted people talking about the prime games to know)

If you're version is >5398 you're good.

Your ideas intrigue me and I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter. Tell me more...
I'll join this request. I'd love to see this happen, if it's not that hard to implement.
No it's not hard. I could work on one (GUI based for more user-friendliness) when I get some free time unless someone does it already.

Speaking of new versions, there is really no way to use share save states between different versions?
No. With the current implementation it is not possible.

This is basically near impossible since save states are a literal copy of the memory state of the emulator when created, so just changing even a little bit of emulation-side code won't make the state work in a different version.

I know, the removal of DX9 is why the Ishiiruka fork exists to begin with. Should not be referred to as Dev builds though since that are the stable main builds available.

I'm not trying to call it a dev build, if that's what you are saying.

I saw some people said they thought that the Ishiiruka version didn't really provide anything over the latest dev build anyway, but I tried it as well just for good measure.

Only thing Ishiiruka did for me was speed up the map screen, the game still stuttered though.

I tried for weeks to get it running correct.. Ran like shit, sub 15fps most of the time on various builds. When I tried that custom Dolphin build (can't remember the name) it ran locked 60fps! I was so happy! Then I went to scan the first thing I'm Prime and it crashed. Gave up after that.

I'm getting pretty discouraged as well. It ran decently for a little while, changed some settings, it didn't work, changed them back and it still messes up. Tried DX9, 11, as well as OpenGL. Tried the Ishiiruka build, as well as the latest build.

Heh, I really wish it would work.

That odd seeing s the the Wii U release is actually using Wii emulation, yet dolphin struggles with the game

Has anybody gone through the trouble of setting up the Metroid Prime games for use with the Oculus Rift DK2? I know it's possible, but is it a pain in the ass to get working and/or not worth the effort?

There is a Dolphin fork specialized in playing Metroid Prime games with Occulus Rift. It has all the previous setup needed

Galaxy runs beautifully on a 760. I was on a 650 Ti 2GB the last time I tried, but I'm glad I saw someone's post about using the dev versions instead of the "stable" ones.

HLE since I never touched the presets for audio, only controller and graphics. Not sure if it's useful information, but I only tested the first 15 minutes.
Don't worry, that helps. Whenever I see people mention great performance in Mario Galaxy I just always wonder if they're using HLE or LLE. I have an i5 2550k clocked at 4.5 GHz and a GTX 770 and LLE still stutters and dips way too much and HLE sound levels bug me. Just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong.

Too bad we can't stick audio on a separate thread entirely at this point.

Wait, LLE audio performs acceptably well?
I have been playing with HLE since it uses OpenAL and has a Dolby Digital Decoder, which I can send to CMSS-3D to apply Virtual surround to my headphones. Can I do that with LLE as well?

I too have just started Echoes for the first time in... 10 years?

I think a few of these might be squished due to the black bar bug. The stuttering is pretty much completely gone after playing for an hour or so, but should I switch to the Ishiiruka build anyways?

If the black bar bothers you then I would recommend it. Download the latest unstable build 250(bcddf76), and set up your graphics options like this:

You'll probably get the black bar as soon as you load your save for the first time, but if you quit to the main menu (the in-game quit option, don't quit emulation) and reload your save it should be smooth sailing from there.

Depends on the game and your specs. LLE performs very well for me in Twilight Princess with the Hyrule Field Speedup Patch enabled but Mario Galaxy is still a crapshoot.

Better performance than the current dolphin development builds?

I have to disable Dual Core in order to fix the black bar bug, which limits my performance.

At the moment I don't think it's quite as fast as the Master dev builds, but you'll definitely get better performance than if you're your disabling Dual Core.

I would experiment with GPU Sync instead of turning off Dual Core usage, but I can't get it to boot with GPU sync enabled.

If there is a kind soul that is willing to help me with MP1 on dolphin...
Ishiiruka to be specific, when i check Full Aync Shader and run Metroid, screen just goes black.
It's still running, I can hear the sound and everything, but screen is just black. Everything else is default, also tried running it in direct3d9 & direct3d11 but with no result.

Which build are you using? Latest stable or unstable?
What are your specs?
Does the same thing happen when using the latest development builds?
Can you post your settings?

I want a good computer :-(.....

I'm stuck playing this on my wii.

Laptop, intel-->i5-3230m, nvidia-->GT730M, 6gb ram

Tested it on latest development builds, and everything works except they don't have the option that Ishiiruka has (Full Async Shader and Predictive FIFO).

For example, i just tested Xenoblade on Ishiiruka and with 3x native resolution i get stable 30 fps, while on latest development builds on the same res i get maybeee 20.

You may find Xenoblade performance to improve/stabilize with the dev builds if you run around a bit and allow all the shaders to cache.

I can't replicate your problem, all I can really suggest is try copying my settings and see what happens. I have no problems getting a picture from Metroid Prime, GCN and Trilogy version. Using Ishiiruka Latest Unestable Build 257(b243f2a).

Vsync, Internal Resolution, Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic filtering are all up to you.

Edit: I don't have it enabled in the screencaps, but if you're using DX11 and Vsync be sure to enable Borderless Fullscreen to get triple buffering.

Edit 2: Jesus, why didn't I try Borderless Fullscreen sooner?! Mario Galaxy runs amazingly with LLE now.

So I'm running Dolphin on my 1080p TV. I'm using the following settings for all games:

Resolution: 1920x1080
Aspect Ratio: Force 16:9
Use Fullscreen: Yes

Internal Resolution: Default (I think this matches the display resolution?)
Anti-aliasing: 4x
Aniostropic Filering: 16x

Is it better to crank up the internal resolution and keep AA at None? Which affects performance more?
