Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

If your IR is set to Auto (Window size) or Auto (640x528) (the latter is generally preferred) then yes, that matches your display resolution.
I'm assuming you are simply using 4x AA (not SSAA since you didn't mention it). If so, 1080p + 4xMSAA is less demanding than 4xIR, but with your GPU I wouldn't worry too much about it since your GTX 670 should be able handle that in most games. Go with whatever looks (and performs) good for you.

How do you install the Han Solo HD texture pack for Rogue Squadron? do you just place all the folders in....

C:\Users\*****\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Load\Textures

?

If you haven't changed the Global User Directory location then almost. You need to put it in a folder with the game id as its name. So Load\Textures\GSWE64 for example.
To get the games id, right-click it in Dolphin -> Properties and it should be visible in the title or you can copy it from the info tab.

I can't replicate your problem, all I can really suggest is try copying my settings and see what happens. I have no problems getting a picture from Metroid Prime, GCN and Trilogy version. Using Ishiiruka Latest Unestable Build 257(b243f2a).

Vsync, Internal Resolution, Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic filtering are all up to you.

Edit: I don't have it enabled in the screencaps, but if you're using DX11 and Vsync be sure to enable Borderless Fullscreen to get triple buffering.

Edit 2: Jesus, why didn't I try Borderless Fullscreen sooner?! Mario Galaxy runs amazingly with LLE now.
Thank you very much, but that didn't solve the problem (actually I found what was the problem, I have not in nvidia control panel set dolphin.exe, i suppose dolphin wasn't even using my main card).
When I switched to nvidia, everything worked.
But still, thanks again, sorry for the inconvenience everybody ;D.

Hmm have done that but as soon as i load the game dolphin crashes

Just started Xenoblade.
The game runs perfect, no stutters at all.

But the sound stutters in battles only.
What is this related to. Slow processor?

Is there any easy fix?

where are the game save files located at. I want to uninstall dolphin real quick to see something on my computer but don't want to lose my save on DKCR

Should be here:

C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Wii

Just back up that whole Dolphin Emulator folder to be sure though.

Might be the CPU, I don't experience stutter in battles and I have a 4690K. What's your spec? You are using the newest dev build, yes?

Twin Snakes cut-scenes are doing some weird stuff. I assume it's to do with the widescreen hack, but is there any way around it?

Other than that, I'm really happy with how Twin Snakes runs on Dolphin. Can't believe how good this emulator is.

I have a i7 960 and a GTX 980.
Pretty old cpu. But I've seen it run perfectly on worse.

There is a bit of crackling in the music sometimes, and in the battles only.
I have no idea if there is some tinkering to be done about it in the options...

Game acted janky with widescreen regardless, so I just run it in good ol' 4:3.

Ohhhhh this is great. I love everything about this. This is the one tweak I wish more emulators could get going well. Gonna read now.

Could already do this in PCSX2, the thing is it's very messy and very buggy how it's being done.

Yeah, I remember seeing it with Kingdom Hearts games. It started out hacky but someone actually found a better way to handle it and it ended up working nearly perfectly.

Someone also made a 60fps hack for Birth by Sleep on the PSP emulator which works wonderfully as well.

It's nice to see more 60fps hacking coming to Dolphin. I want to see this working with some of the Zelda games, or something like Super Mario 64 even.

New to the thread here,

This is a big question but with the new updates, What games are still un-finishable on dolphin? Which ones still have major issues?

I am new to the scene so I plan on buying a friends old GC disk collection (over 100 games) and his ripping equipment/programs so I can play these bad-boys in 1080p (Got a beefy computer).

See this: https://dolphin-emu.org/compat/

Games rated one or two stars won't be finishable. Games rated three stars might be but have known major issues. Games rated four stars and up should be able to be completed fine.

Using Ishiiruka latest build for prime trilogy seems to eat through my ram and crash. Any ideas what could cause that or maybe my settings are the culprit

Ehhhh Im getting issues when playing with the exclusive full screen mode. I need press escape as if I were about to close the emulator and go back for it to work well. Is that normal?

Also how do I try out that new stuff?

Truly Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a gorgeous thing to behold on Dolphin man. I remember playing it on the Wii and thinking ... god damn this is some ugly IQ. I really wish the Wii was stronger because I can tell there is potential here.

And now boom, that potential is realized. Gorgeous game @ 3x IR, 16x AF, 2x AA, etc. etc. Also got it running smooth @ 60fps. I only get a fps drop to 55fps if there are a ton of star orb things to pick up on the screen. Engine doesn't like having a ton of stars around at the same time.

So, is the latest version the most stable one as well? The download page says the latest "stable" version was posted over a year ago and I know some significant advancements have been made recently. The latest version is 4.0-5422. Should I get this one?

Always get the latest dev version. Stable builds are way out of date.

Are they even working on stable builds anymore? Feels like they should just remove it and make it a rolling release like it already is in practice.

The plan was to start working on 5.0 back in January but I believe it got delayed due to a number of big features being worked on at the time (like zfreeze emulation). Now I'm not sure what's going to happen.

The "problem" is that whenever big changes are coming it would be better to have them in a stable release. But with all the activity currently big changes are happening constantly, so no new stable releases for now.

Can someone tell me how to set the controllers on Donkey Kong Country Returns?
I dont wanna break my controller out of frustration.

Make sure you tick off the box for the emulated Wiimote to be in the sideways position, bind jump/etc. to face buttons and make sure you bind the shake controller stuff to a trigger button or something convenient to press. I bind all 3 shake directions just to be safe, but it probably doesn't matter. Having shake bound to a button is what removes the frustration though.

Set but cant try it cause the game decides to crash after selecting the file and about to start the game as soon as the clouds show up it goes down.

Well the controller is safe.

I'm trying Dolphin for the first time since I upgraded my PC last year and I'm not all that pleased with the results so far.

I have an FX-6300, HD 7950, and 8 GBs of RAM. I know that AMD systems don't perform as well as Intel and Nvidia's but I'm hoping I can squeeze better performance out of this thing, specifically Twilight Princess. I can get 30 FPS during certain scenes but then it randomly drops to 20 or less here and there, especially in bigger environments.

I changed EFB Copies to RAM, as suggested here, and that didn't help much. Direct3D seemed to give better performance than OpenGL but in order to get the game solidly playable I had to turn down the internal resolution to 1.5x native and AA and AF down to 4x or so.

Are you using the latest development build of Dolphin? Do you have the Hyrule Field Speed Hack enabled?
