Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

I just downloaded and extracted r7719 64-bit and it worked fine.

And I guess I just didn't use Winrar enough to know that, maybe I'm thinking of some other files it didn't work with.

anyone got xenoblade specs config for xbox 360 controller?
Xenoblade uses the classic pro controller, so open up Wiimote config in dolphin, and under extension switch it to classic. Then map the 360 controller just like a classic pro.

Out of curiosity and totally hypothetically & ethically speaking.

What are your/gafs views on :

- Buying a gc/wii title -> ripping it yourself -> ...
- Buying a gc/wii title -> downloading the "rip" from some torrentsite ->...

?

( I sold off my gc and wii some time ago and I have not ventured in dolphin territory so I have no personal opinion as of yet )

in option 2, you become a statistic publishers use to justify anti-consumer practices like intrusive DRM. at least in an overly drastic, ubisoft run world.

I forgot all about Xenoblade. I checked the wiki and see there's still no NA release? =\

Oh well. I hope you guys start posting pics.

Can a wiimote be used with dolphin if you have the official nintendo wii sensor bar hooked up to (powered from) your wii console?
All my button presses are registering but the motion/pointer stuff isn't working at all.

Yep, all the sensor bar does is throw some IR dots out for the Wiimote. In the Wiimote config try switching the sensor bar position from top to bottom

Ok, looks like there's now a proper working method to run the xenoblade chronicles at 30fps 100% speed (by kAs1m from the dolphin forum). Either hexedit the image file and change SX4P01 to SX4J01, or use this patcher he created:

http://www.multiupload.com/0HT3E314L0

Game now runs at the same speed as when running it on the Wii

after applying this, the fps drops tremendously on a cutscene
edit: nvm, something else was causing this

I'm trying to setup Dolphin 3.0 and I don't have an option for any plugins. I don't know what I'm doing wrong? (Probalby a lot of things.)

Well, the longer it takes for my copy of Xenoblade to arrive, the better the chances that its emulation will be perfected.

I have a feeling I'll just end up playing on my Wii, however.

The emulation is already perfect. You just need a fast enough system and a somewhat recent Dolphin build.

Do you mind posting your settings for optimal performance in Xenoblade? , i got eveything good except the sound, witch a lot of other people seems to have trouble with aswell.

So, Xenoblade (once I get it imported, of course) with a i7-870? Worth trying? I've never tried dolphin before, but generally have no problems with PCSX2. CPU is paired with gtx460x2 SLI (though obviously that makes little difference in emulators).

If I can get good performance on Dolphin I may save myself some money from buying a Classic controller for the Wii and just use Dolphin (though I've generally not disliked Wii image quality on my Kuro if I have no other choice).

You should be fine, you might need to overclock it a bit (At least over 3.2ghz) or you might come across audio issues.

Runs 100% for me on an i5 750 @ 3.6ghz and a 4890 @ 1080p

Sounds good. Overlocking the pre-Sandy Bridge i5 and i7 CPUs seems like more of a hassle, but I'll give it a shot (haven't bothered overclocking a cpu since the old celeron days personally). I'd be aiming for 3.6ghz, I think, actually.

Are you just using Dolphin version 3.0?

Found your older post stating it works with various version. Never mind this.

Has anyone tried Xeno with LLE? It's usually my go-to solution for crackling audio (that and xaudio2).

Yes works quite well in my experience very little issues with audio, havent tried xaudio2 though.

i just d/led Dolphin. i don't expect any issues with my rig judging from other posts here. but i think i'll keep playing on my Wii for now. gonna do replays with Dolphin like i was replaying a HD remake or something. ;)

Can you use KB/M with the wii games? If so does it work well?
Well you could but IMO you'll be much better off using a x360 controller or wiimote/nunchucks. A mouse though works pretty good as a wiimote pointer if you configure it right (from what I remember before getting a bluetooth adapter for my wiimote)

Its a shame Konami didn't decide to put Twin Snakes in the HD Collection. All they'd need to do is fix the music and the cutscenes (and apparently there was a version of the game which was rejected by Kojima which did have the original cutscenes) and it would fit right into the HD Collection.

they would need to take out all the Nintendo references too.

I figure that effort wouldn't be than much more than they are already doing with switching over a lot of the PSX specific stuff (including re-recording lines) to Xbox 360. It'd also be pretty fun to see the memory card reading trick on a 360.

They probably can't.

The game was developed by a Nintendo second party back then and (clearly) financed by Nintendo.

They don't even use footage of it in official "looking back" videos, flashbacks or anything like that, chances are like it's a complicated deal like Goldeneye (remember how M$ had a port done but somehow needed Nintendo's clearance or something like that).

What about the switch controller from controller port?

It wouldn't work anymore.

Well, first of all, get this version of Dolphin:
http://www.xtemu.com/forum/files/go/b1309c4012c1c02c3cdc4967d8e516da/dolphin-svn-builds
(It has a patch for Xenoblade with HLE audio applied)

If you want to play with 30 instead of 25 FPS then apply this patch:
http://www.multiupload.com/0HT3E314L0
to your ripped .iso.

I use these settings:
xbsettingscqvr.png

No AA is enabled since it causes some minor glitches. Rendering at 2560x2112 gives you some automatic AA via downscaling.

If you can afford to, you should probably use the DSP LLE recompiler instead of HLE audio. With my 3.7 GHz i7 I can almost use it, but will get some slowdown in cutscenes. Using HLE and the above settings it never drops below 30 FPS / 60 VPS.

Here are 2 screenshots using these settings ("only" 720p, since I play this on my projector):

Question: I set up dolphin and everything seemd fine. Then I turned off the PC to do other stuff. Now when I try to start the program, it starts but I can't actually access it. It shows an icon that the program is running, but when I try to bring it up nothing happens.

Phew, finally got it working.

A new question: Can I use a Dualshock 3 with Dolphin? If not, can it be used via motionjoy?
I'm actually playing Xenoblade right now with a DS3, via motionjoy. I don't think you can use it directly.

Daante said:
Is there somewhere else i can get that version of Dolphin? , (seems you need to register on that link) :S
Strange, I can just download directly from there, I don't have an account or anything.

Edit:
Hmm, could be that that link was somehow locked to a session, try this:

Cool. Good to know I can use the DS3.

I also had an issue with your link, got an error message. But I could still download after browsing the emulator section.

Also used your settings and the game looks great.
