Obama releasing of long form BC + being destroyed at the correspondence dinner + UBL death mere hours later = Trump having no chance to win. Even if the whole purpose of this charade was to promote himself (and it was), after the dinner and UBL's death, his efforts at promoting himself was only going to go negative for him.

I think Trump was told to take on the birther issue, knowing full well he won't be electable.
This removes the birth certificate as an issue for the right wing grass roots who would have reasonably expect any presidential content to tackle had Trump not taken the bullet.

This clears the existing slate to focus on attacks on Obama on his handling of the economy, obamacare and other wedge issues.

Clearly, the saner wing of the party arranged for this, after realized they astrotured a group of crazies after losing the presidency in 2008.
 
As a republican, I couldn't be any more happy about this. Now let's take out the other crazies like Palin, Gingrich, etc. out of the running. Realistically, I'm thinking it'll be Romney or someone not really put forward yet vs. Obama.

Romney has no chance, he lost once before, he approved healthcare reform, and he is a mormon.

Hah. I clicked on this thread right before the merge and did a double take at the number of new posts.

At any rate. With Huckabee and Trump out, and Palin almost certainly not running, the primaries are getting less interesting by the day. Still, there's pleasure to be had watching Mitt and Newt declare their recent policy positions unconstitutional (RE: mandate).

He was just doing this to promote his show and now that the season is over he doesn't have to pretend to be running anymore. He does something like this pretty much every new season of his show.
 
Trump didn't want any more of the Badass in Chief.

That correspondent's dinner just ethered any chances he may have had.

Yeah, if the Donald ever had a chance before the Roast... errrr... I mean correspondents' dinner, then after that reaming he took his chances were effectively zero. At least his got the smarts to quite while he's ahead... or breaking even... well, still there. I don't know how to fix that phrase to make it applicable to him.

Yep. This isn't the first time Trump has trolled presidential politics with ABSOLUTELY NO INTENT to actually run for office. People have been calling this since he announced he was interested.
 
People here are sarcastically saying "shocked" but I actually am. I thought his ego would have pushed him all the way,despite the money sink.
 
No worries. Newt Gingrich is already filling in for Trump. He said something like

"I've never said anything racist about Obama. I just think he's got a food stamp government"

and

"He's turning the US into Detroit"

Of course, I'm paraphrasing. Still, we have plenty of crazy.
