I wait with bated breath.

didn't perot actually hurt clinton more than he did bush? i remember reading that after perot re-entered the race bush stayed relatively steady in the polls but clinton dropped.

Oh man...this would be so amazing, and such a catastrophe for the Republicans. We believe in you Donald! You have the power to completely and utterly crush any chance for a republican president!

Hil-dawg
Sanders
2016!

Is there a possibility of Sanders being Hillary's VP? Would love to see Bernie in the White House in some capacity at least.

Republicans don't have a choice, they have to push him out. The primaries and all this foolishness is one thing, but if Trump wins and they stick with him, Hilary is going to win in one of the biggest landslide victories in US history.

If they push him out and he runs 3rd party Hillary would also win in one of the biggest landslide victories in US history, too.

The only way to win is if he implodes by himself, really.

All this would do is ensure a Hillary landslide. I'm starting to wonder if the Donald is on the Clinton payroll at this point. He is destroying the Republican Party (and I love it)

Seriously. If he runs, it kills every argument Clinton backers have against Sanders. Sanders definitely wins in a Trump - Bush - Sanders configuration.

Trump - Bush - Sanders is also the world's hardest game of Fuck, Marry, Kill.

Marry Bush. Kill Trump. Fuck Sanders. You marry a Bush and in 10 years, you can run for president.

Isn't this the GOP's worst nightmare? The last thing they need to do is lose the completely crazy vote who automatically vote Republican.

I can actually see Trump doing this, because I really doubt he cares at all for the Republicans success or failure in 2016.

Though I am not sure how him running as a third party candidate would affect the electoral map. As it is, even in a two-candidate race the Republicans have almost no chance of winning. The GOP could win Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida and still lose.

Does Trump's act play well in the Midwest? Maybe he could weaken the Republicans there.
Other than that, maybe he takes ~5 million popular votes away from the Republicans. There's no way he could come close to Perot's ~20 million, could he?

End Result

Hillary: 327
Bush: 113
Trump: 98

Electoral College

He would be unlikely to actually get any Electoral votes, he would just make Hillary's victory larger by taking potential republican votes away.

Trump running and turning the tea party nut jobs against the republicans would be like the ultimate Frankenstein's monster scenario. Would be a fitting culmination of the last 10 years and the shitty political climate they helped create.

"What do you mean, 'I couldn't be the president of the United States of America'? Tell me something, it's still 'We the people', right?"

-Trolan "I like people who weren't captured" Dump
If there's a new way he'll be the first in line, but it better work this time,

If he runs third party, then all the news companies have to refer to his party as The Wigs. Anyone who doesn't isn't allowed to do news any more.

This is a new low for Republicans. Not only do they not have any good ideas, they can't even deal with Trump in a way that allows them to retain some shred of dignity. Poor Lindsey Graham won't even open the curtains.

"The RNC has not been supportive. They were always supportive when I was a contributor. I was their fair-haired boy," Trump said in the interview. "The RNC has been, I think, very foolish."

It's probably unwise to draw attention to that.

The dream scenario is that this happens and that John Stewart cancels his retirement.

Part of me is slightly convinced that Trump is secretly the world's greatest Democrat or something.

Still, though. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop with Trump. We all know that this is just a fad. He won't last. Not a chance. Republicans will abandon hum eventually, and for a stupid reason.

Isn't this the GOP's worst nightmare? The last thing they need to do is lose the completely crazy vote who automatically vote Republican.

This is exactly the case. AND if the adults in the GOP room criticize him or try to push him out, said crazies lash out and double down on Trump.

Ultimately, other GOP front runners like Jeb and Scott Walker are going to feel like they need to try to win some of the crazies back, and in doing so they're going to have to say some crazy, hard right stuff... stuff that will hurt them bad once the primaries are over and they have to appeal to the general public.

Meanwhile, anybody even slightly moderate on the GOP side is getting completely drowned out and ignored because the headlines are All Trump All Day. John Kasich for example. And what they don't realize is that if they ever want a Republican in the White House again, it'll have to be somebody like Kasich. Someone with reasonable enough views (compared to the usual GOP primary freakshow) who some independents and Democrats would at least listen to. But anyone they have with a shot of competing in the general election has zero shot of competing in their primaries.

It's a bad problem for the Republicans, and Trump really is the epitome of what's been going on for the last three cycles.

Not too familiar with Trump, why are people speculating that he may be a secret democrat? Jokingly or not.

Because he's basically a giant wrecking ball crashing through the GOP right now, either revealing the crazies or causing some to re-evaluate their stances. The party doesn't know how to handle him and he's galvanizing the left.

It's the equivalent of a group of people saying "We're not crazy you guys!" and then panning over to the absolute craziest person in the group.
