Donkey Kong Bananza |OT| Red Faction Gorilla

I'm getting very jealous of you guys playing already 🥲

My Brother has the Game already, played a bit and is it just me or those the Transformation sound effect, sound like the Koopa sound? That's what I've noticed, or maybe it's just me 😅

I see. Can VRR be use or enabled? I'm getting confused with reviewers and youtube videos different opinions on technical side.
VRR does not work on TV and even if it did, DKB's entire engine is based in Switch 1's hardware, it doesn't support it even in handheld mode (the dock itself does output VRR but for some unknown reason, the Switch 2 won't output it over the dock). Having played the game for as long as I have, the game runs at 60FPS 90% of the time. It's rare that it drops during gameplay. Usually drops during the banana gem collection animation. One boss fight drops to 30 but no others.

Don't be like some of the people here who believe the game can barely maintain 60FPS. Not sure how they got that conclusion.

Even on the built in screen, Bananza only supports double buffered Vsync anyways

I see. Anyway, as long as frame rate is stable and IQ is good, its okay.

If it uses variable resolution, I've not seen it, the IQ is solid. Textures are sharp and even though it doesn't use DLSS at all, the way it uses FSR 1 and SMAA, I never noticed jagged edges at all. Remember, people like Digital Foundry OVER analyze things, it's what they do. Most of the IQ issues they talk about, you'll never notice because you're not stopping to analyze things with tools for it.

At first I wasn't really thaaaaat interested but I just found out who the final boss is and then watched some of the final fight.
Now I'm actually considering whether to buy it or not...

I understand DF that they over analyze per pixel and frame, that's there job and expertise where they earn money by gaining followers and views. DF can also be a guide for programmers and game developers to make them aware of flaws and what is needed. Even Cerny of Sony trust them on technical aspects of games.

But, you are right, most issues are not noticeable.

You boys really going to let the astrobutt fans win in the vote for the other thread?

Stop monkeying around! Our lord and savior harambe needs us!!!

Haven't had much time to play yet so I'm only on sublayer 300, but damn man… this game is awesome. The gameplay flow is really engaging.

Love the little touch's like what happens when you rotate the analog stick quickly.

À bit into layer 300 before bed

Layer 200 feels more like a transition zone I guess but layer 300 picks up the greatness of layer 100 again

I'm going to be stuck on the canyon layer for a while. There are so many bananas I'm still missing.

Got to 300 (Canyon) before - Jesus there's bananas everywhere...

Feel like I picked up 20 bananas and fossils in such a small compacted area.

I can't believe how much fun I'm having. It's been a long time since I've had fun like this. Sure, games like Elden Ring and Expedition 33 had me hooked with tough gameplay or a great story, but this DK game is just fun. I feel like a kid again, playing with toys and make believe destruction. My wife says I have a smile on my face when playing and she's never seen me do it with any other game.

It's absolutely jam-packed. I have the fully upgraded sonar now and every time I use it I see a bunch of new bananas and fossils in every direction.

LOOK HOW CUTE I LOOK. I upgraded the tie for the extra chest encounters. I feel like there's chests constantly spawning as I dig deeper which is nice b/c it gives you MEGA amounts of treasure maps to help you find other collectibles!

For the record, THIS GAME RULES.

I wasn't going to grab this yet, but I ordered one on CEX since I've got a few £80 vouchers. Hoping it's a good game, although probably won't play it for a while, not until I've wrapped up a few other games. I'm sure my kids will smash through it though and tell me how much fun it is.

Nintendo excel at creating a two to three second gameplay loop that is visceral and addictive.

With DK it's the smash and handslap to collect the gold.

Odyssey it was the jump, hat throw, leap onto the hat.

Splatoon it's the constant loop of shooting and swimming.

It's as much audio design as it is animation. And they're one of the few video game designers that get close to capturing the tactile feeling of arcade gaming.

Blizzard used to have it. D3, for example, was polished to perfection in terms of moment to moment gameplay.

The game is truly excellent and very, very addictive and fun! My only complaint so far is that some characters speak English? It's just so out of place in a fantasy game where almost every other character speak gibberish.

Hoping it's good? The game is already GOATED if you read impressions on here, reddit and YouTube. Game is Odyssey but bigger, better, more intense and visually stunning. The moment to moment gameplay loop is super addictive and so far the levels are HUGE and each layer gives you so much to do, that's not even takling about the different biomes. It's one of those must buys for any Switch 2 owner like how Odyssey/BOTW was.

The world art styles are fugly, but the gameplay is stupidly fun, it feels like your breaking the game most of the time but so long as it gets the banana and it's fun, the game really doesn't care.

Have no problems with Nintendo hiking prices up if we get games of this quality and scope every few months.

Blue with the ring around the neck, you can now spin with ZL and make the jeopardy meme real

I'd love to know the logic behind how two zebra hoofs give better traction on ice than gorilla feet.

DKs movements and the destructibility really makes for some creative bosses though they are rather easy thus far - I understand why, kids are supposed to make it trough the game as well, they're all fun just the same.

I
I want this team to make a Banjo-Kazooie game.
If only. I wish Nintendo would either buy Rare from Microsoft or the Banjo IP. What a waste. Same goes for Spyro and Crash. Nintendo should aquire Toys for Bob, Team 17 and absolutely dominate the platform space. Would make far more sense than Sony's purchase of Bungie.

For those like me thinking they don't need it - if you create more hideouts, they actually upgrade, and you get access to shops / new items through tipping. You may aswell do it. Took me awhile to see this lol.

Stompy Ascent it never gets old to smash the platforms a bit. Then the stomp enemies jump at you, dodge and they fall through the floor.

I couldn't disagree more about the world art styles being "fugly". The sublayers are bright, super colorful, and vibrant- but most importantly, they are fun to traverse. I love the amount of environment destructibility and that you can create tunnels to so many unexpected areas. It's a fantastic sandbox.

This fucking game. 9 hours played, 100%ed the first 3 maps. Took me 4 hours to clear the 3rd map. Game is still incredible satisfying to play. My only complaints so far are the short boss battles :( These things die so fast. Probably the most fun i've had playing a videogame in years when it comes to pure gameplay and fun

Odyssey is shit.

TBH, I'm not sure how but Bananza is the true sequel to Mario 64 that we never got.
