Donkey Kong Bananza Previews

Looks like a great time, definitely getting one, hopefully I'll be done with Bravely Default before this comes out. I hope they'll do an Ask The Developer interviews for this one, like they did with Mario Kart. Those are always super interesting.

It looks like a game world that you can spend a lot of time exploring with fun gameplay.
Could be any decent game from the last ten or twenty years no?

This looks like Mario Oddessy on steroids to me, not much in common with BOTW. But we all have our own slant on things, which I respect.

I don't think the vast majority of open world or big areas in games are worth exploring. Most are dull. Look at DS2 as an example.

And the gameplay mechanics look varied and a fun was to traverse the areas.

Let see. I'm really looking forward to this. Could be the surprise of the year (as ridiculous as that sounds).

What makes you think this is their only game in works right now? Obsidian is releasing 3 games in 2025 alone, teams can divide their work you know
Traditionally, Nintendo space out tentpole 3D platformers. I think it's correct to assume that this team will now move into full production on the new 3D Mario.

I think they view this as a their big Nintendo 3D platformer for now.

But considering they made a new Donkey Kong and got Kirby Air Ride as a big holiday title, I assume they might do some things we don't expect.

I think their big holiday title is Splatoon Raiders, especially in Japan

Damn this game looks so ugly.

The colors are garish and again, what's with Nintendo and fog lately?

I think they need to fire whoever art director they just hired.

From what I've read the game seems sort of repetetive. But if it isn't very long then that's perfectly fine. Not a game I'd buy a Switch 2 for, but once I get one I'll check out Bananza.

I'm waiting for some time for Switch 2 but this game looks fun as fuck. It'll be the first one I probably pick up when I get into some Switch 2-ing.

Seems like it's going to be a lot of fun. I've been looking for a sandboxy Nintendo game since Odyssey and this may hit the spot. Need Odyssey 2 next.

That is a very personal opinion... for me Astrobot is WAY better than Odyssey in some aspects (strangely, bosses and power ups are some of thoses)
The bosses were better, and the game was very polished.

But the move set was absurdly limited. Jump and hover. That was it.

3D Mario is about movement.

Well not necessary. Some really good Mario 3Ds relies more on levels than moviment (Im thinking Mario Galaxy and Mario 3D World - specially Browser's Fury, GOd damm it, this 'DLC' is good).

Yeah It does look fantastic doesn't it?
It does and some might disagree with me but I LOOOOOVE DK's new and more expressive design.

Another thing I love, unlike Nintendo's past game this time around our side kick is proper character with personality instead of object with eyes.

Looks lovely. I'm all for decent quality titles wherever they come from and this looks like a complete joy.

Awesome sauce. Hopefully we have a 9/10 Nintendo title on our hands. Hype indeed.

Please stop comparing Astro bot to this game.

Astro bot is a linear platformer and those levels designed around those limited move-sets.

DK Bananza is open ended platformer has waaay more moves-et because you have the freedom to traverse almost everywhere and destroy almost everthing.

They are different games.

Those IGN guys are insufferable, they've both got cheese in their ears and can't understand each other "I played for two hours" "YOU PLAYED FOR THREE HOURS?!" and the guy who played it keeps saying "Ig-not Isle" over and over...

Jfc pal its a place filled with gold, put 2 and 2 together you spack, critical thinking is dead, people just repeat words and numbers they read and hear contemplation these days.

The other day a goblin came into my shop asked me for a remote control for an LG TV cause he had stuck his one up his dogs arse or something like that, I said "we dont have the official LG ones is that okay?" and he wailed "WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN", like how can you get that far in life (he was 40ish) without knowing what the word official means, boggles the mind really.

Brevity and simplicity is almost always the best course but sometimes more complicated words allow for brevity you know.

Just to tie this back to DK:B, he looked like one of the bad guys in this game, a horrific slathering monster of a not-so gentleman.
Go off, King.
