Donkey Kong Bananza |OT| Red Faction Gorilla

Those little 4 shits you have to find every levels, the one in the forest wasted a good 15 mins of my time, I fucking tore down the whole fucking sector 😂
I just did that in a different layer

Those challenges always get me. I start to lose my mind and think that I have to expand the area and destroy everything and then it ends up being somewhere super obvious like right in front of the fractone who asked me to look for them

I was back in the forest area and had a fractone tell me there were "too many thorns and it could use a vacuum" so I busted out the trunk.
It's a pretty crazy mechanic to have in a game where 90% of the terrain is destructible.

Very fun though.

I fucking tore down the whole fucking sector
I've done that multiple times and still didn't find them. Then I look up and there's usually some little island or something right above me.

There was island on air in Freezer Layer I couldn't reach and I thought to myself I guess I should comeback to this place when I have the ability to fly.

But then a thought occurred to me, I could just build a bridge from snow…and I fucking did.

That's how I solved it as well. That one took me while to figure out though. But it's awesome that there's multiple solutions.

If you like this stuff, maybe try some IM Sim titles like Prey.

Entire game is build around stuff like this, level design etc. and there is a gun that allows you to do this.

I'm sure Prey is good game but I'm not exactly biggest fan of FPS games in general.

I love platformers, it's greats to see this type interaction in these games.

Can't they make good levels anymore?
What is this drugged shit?

Please tell me there is down to earth levels like a forest, a desert, snow area etc?? Else this goes to the trash bin.
And new DK is garbage, give me the RARE one back, and what is up with the title music? No DK Rap? Serious?

Just finished everything 100% up to the Tempest Layer.
The Elephant Bananza combined with the Treasure Tie is freaking bonkers.

The event in this picture literally takes place after a forest, desert and snow area. You're either just sharing a picture you saw or are trolling.

You are in the first level. Yes....they do change.

That's the first level.

But it's later in the game after Void Kong goes back to it. So as Jsisto said above, there is no way that person could have got to that part without seeing the Canyon, Freezer and Forest areas.

Also with the amount of music in the game they are clearly just trolling

For real? A screenshot that can only happen when you go back to 1st layer but not until you went through 5 other layers of diverse biomes?

You've never seen the trailer that shows biomes? A single trailer already shows variety.

This game you are clearly not playing is garbage while everyone here is having fun?

Lowest effort troll in a while? Yup congrats!

So what is this Cao Cao Cao Cao ? Did you just grab a random screenshot off the internet for trolling purposes?

When does this happen?

I'm at the Resort Layer now and have yet to encounter this. But maybe I'm still too early?
Not sure if "requires" is the exact word but there were several earlier areas and banana gems I got to after using newly acquired transformations and abilities. Am I doing it wrong? 🤔

I don't think there's any wrong or right, that's the beauty of it.

I was just curious since I've been going 100% layer by layer without going back to previous layers and haven't come across any layers (yet) that require an ability I haven't already unlocked.

Still loving the game, but one thing I'm a little disappointed in is the platforming. The reviews said the platforming is really good, so I came in expecting some cool platforming sections. It's fine, but it's far less of a factor than I was hoping. This game is all about digging, smashing, bashing through and through. Even the boss fights you could beat blindfolded, they're the easiest bosses I've fought in many years. Like no challenge whatsoever. But the digging and smashing is super satisfying. I'll see if as I play more if there are any better platforming sections than I've played so far.

I've been holding off on upgrading any health or applesauce etc. This keeps the combat still kind of risky because of my 3 hearts (although I often have more after resting at Getaways), so I've died a fair amount of times.

But I still wish the bosses had like double the health.

bosses are simply too easy. They are fun and well designed, but don't have ability to shine because of how brain dead they are. That's pretty much my only complaint.

Welcome to modern day Nintendo (or triple A gaming in general).
nope nothing about this is "general", they basically die without completing a single attack pattern.
i haven't seen anything like this. feels like tuned for toddlers or something.

There's an outfit for Pauline that auto regenerates your health when in Bananza mode… probably an easy way to cheese it

I've only done the first rehearsal last night and it wasn't too bad

Do they get much harder?
Assuming you did the DK one then in my opinion yes. I got all bananas and balloons in that one.

Good point I put a different one back on after getting that.

For anyone music collecting the thing that sells bananas also sells records. But I know some are tied to other things so it won't get you all of them.

Yeah, it's annoying... I still remember playing DK64 and that game kicked my ass as a teen and provided a nice challenge. Sadly we can't have Nintendo games like that anymore.

I just hate this new direction Nintendo is taking making everything insanely easy.

Finished it. Now need to get all the bananas.
At first I was like why did they make the root tree a tit.

I thought TotK had an epic finale, but wow, did not expect this to have one probably at the same level.

9/10.
Good: Mechanics, transformations and amazing transformation music, story (yes there is one), and pacing.

Bad: Camera can be wonky, esp at the start, and there are slow down at times.

I did that with a challenge level with rolling spike balls. I couldn't figure out how to jump over a gap.

Just beat the game. More than 30 hours of gameplay, far from having all the bananas from the regular story. What can I say except that the game is exceptional. I'll probably have more detailed thoughts later but it's an absolute masterclass in mechanics, flow, level design and pretty much everything that makes games fun. The few flaws it has are more like nitpicks than anything else. Honestly if you think this game is shit or even mediocre I don't even understand what you want from this hobby.

I've clocked 28h in this now, and it's overtaken Mario Kart World as my most played Switch 2 game.

Working through the Radiance Layer now. I've 100% everything up until this point.

I was pretty disappointed in the Racing Layer. Feels like you can barely call that racing, Rambi feels extremely slow and stiff.

I couldn't find the first banana in "Nostalgia Country" after running through it 3 times

Then I went back after acquiring a certain ability
(Snek)

Then you just check behind you lol nice

It's my least favorite bananza power, and kinda feels like they couldn't come up with something better. Also the Zebra bananza is great but very underutilized, also has the best music.

For you completetieonists out there that don't want to be looking up guides.

Heed my words before you waste your time searching endlessly.

Buy at least ONE banana from the Chip Exchange. This goes for each world where they are available.

also 1 for smashing a certain terrain

I had to start upgrading my health. By SL900 enemies and bosses were taking their toll. SL900's boss was wiping me out in 2 hits with only 3 hearts.

I will say this about the difficulty. This game is approachable to the masses even before Assist Mode and I think that alone will allow it to sell better than any Donkey Kong before it.
Tropical Freeze and Returns were difficult in ways that the kids in my circles just weren't used to. For an 80's kid like me it was heaven, for most of them World 1 alone was seriously too much. Wimps.

Ever so often there will be a challenge that gets me fairly frustrated. A couple bosses actually killed me a few times especially since I've done the majority of my play time with only 3 hearts. And that's the beauty, I choose to look for everything and keep my health low for an environmental or enemy challenge. Though I do sleep in each Getaway to hear the voice acting so I probably avoided a ton more deaths then the ones I've already experienced.

Whatever the case, I expecting this to hit AT LEAST 20 million by the time the Switch 3 rolls around.

man these have to be the easiest boss fights in gaming history, none of them lasts 15 seconds. wth
You're Donkey Kong. You should feel a little badass.

EDIT- I plow through an hour or so nightly. Beating the shit out of everything feels oddly therapeutic.

Just got to SL1000. Feels like every level just one ups the last. Nice to see that the game is getting a bit more challenging too. Not hard by any means but not quite as breezy as the first few levels.

Love how they've been building on the types of terrain and interactivity they provide too.

Games a banger for sure.

The boss on that level made me rage quit last night.

Then there are a couple bosses with way too much shit on the screen that brings the system to it's knees and are kinda hard in that there is too much shit to work around. They could have done better with balancing. Last boss took me ~ 30 minutes to beat because I didn't know what I was doing but I had the regen while in Bananza Pauline suit so I didn't die.

The thing that gets me is that my 6 year old is going to struggle with a few bosses and basically have no issues with the other ones. That is kinda shitty design. Don't get me wrong, the game is great overall, just fucked that they mixed 30 second bosses with some that are going to cause serious frustration. I think they should have made the main ones easier and then had optional challenge versions that threw in all the obstacles and framerate killing shit.
