Does it have one? I can't find any info, which leaves me perplexed, to say the least.

Yeah I'd like to know. The original is dirt cheap and is a constant temptation.

Some say that the changes are very minor. What are they again?

The director's cut is supposedly a pretty different cut of the movie, and not the standard deleted or extended scenes dropped in to make it longer. Some music has been changed, too--Echo & the Bunnymen's "The Killing Moon" has been replaced by INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart". Other music has been added as well.

How different are the two versions of "Donnie Darko"? The most obvious addition is the display of pages from the "Time Travel" book, which nudges the story in the sci-fi direction. The psychological drama seems more compelling, and a much more interesting added scene is a discussion between Donnie and his dad that sheds light on the boy's emotional state.

There's a trailer for the director's cut here:

The director's cut DVD is already out in region 2, so hopefully we'll get it in region 1 early next year. There's no release date yet. Here's the list of features of the UK version:

First tragedy, then farce.
MOST of the 'new' scenes are on the original DVD.. there have been some changes and a few additions.. the special effects are better than I remember them.. its a better movie, but Im not sure its THAT much better.

I can't wait for the director's cut to be released. I've been holding off on buying the DVD, waiting to see when/if it's released in region 1. The main reason I want to see it is for Jena Malone. I bought The United States of Leland (which has Jena), but I haven't watched it yet.
