Dota 2 Beta Thread: [Brewmaster]

Really? Can we get a clarification here? That something so clearly tongue in cheek (and doesn't constitute serious discussion of anything) could hypothetically constitute a ban is a little ridiculous.

no dude it's serious, no exceptions

I was joking, i don't think it's that bad.

Come on mouz bring out some hon tactics that nobody would every expect in dota! Solomid leshrac and shit like that yo!

It's interesting to see HoN players moving over and competing in Dota 2. The arguments are always leveled that they were the scrubbish high level Dota players who could never quite make it there, so they had to move to another game with a more dilute talent pool. Arguments are made both ways, but its nice to finally see an actual experimental test of whether it's true.

Wow, Dota 2 tournaments still have ways to go in terms of organization. It's been, I don't know, 2 or 3 hours since the last game has been played and now the stream goes offline. No Mouz vs M5 today apparently.

He said it was "My Mix Tube": http://www.youtube.com/user/MyMixTube

But he also mentioned a "Hands Up Mix". Not sure if that is a playlist, or upload on that specific channel.

Ah, MyMixTube. Thanks. Australian accent can be hard at times ;)

To be honest, it was clunky timing on Valve's part. Roll out this patch three hours later and it would be fine.

Well, when the models load at the very start of the match, the game does stutter, especially in bot matches due to 9 being picked at once. Was that what you were talking about?

Also, there isn't any patch right now, the Servers in Europe are just having issues. Valve may need to start making Tournament Builds of the game that can be played on LAN.

Told you Archie

I don't think Sebulon is guessing.
Nah I'm guessing, but it's not that difficult to predict the direction they take the updates, Invoker requires so much work, expecting him before heroes that require far less, is silly.

Next week Bane or Gyro, calling it now.

-If a player fails to connect and load, we now kick all the players back to matchmaking so we don't end up 4v5.

nice

Can someone post the patch notes?

When purchasing while dead, items can go to the main inventory ( previously were sent to the stash ).
Fixed some item buffs not working when combined while the hero is dead.
Fixed ability tooltips not working when the game is paused.
Revamped the waiting for players (loading) screen.
If a player fails to connect and load, we now kick all the players back to matchmaking so we don't end up 4v5.

DOTA 2 BOTS

Fixed bug where bots would fail to attack Roshan.
Fixed bug where bots wouldn't deny their own creeps.
Fixed spectating players still being able to control bots while spectating.
Fixed bug where bots would grab Aegis over humans if the human's inventory was full. Now they'll assume the human will drop an item for Aegis.
Fixed bug that could sometimes cause no one on a team to pick up Aegis.
Fixed bug where bots would freeze when they encountered a dropped item that they wanted to destroy.
Fixed bug where bots were only avoiding the outermost towers in each lane.
Bots now try to avoid each other somewhat, so they should no longer stack on top of each other as much.
Bots will now attack pets, controlled creeps, and minions in general.
Fixed case where heroes would backtrack after blinking.
Added bot avoidance to Ancient Apparition's Cold Feet.
Bots will now use Glyph if their base is under attack and there are no humans on their team.
Fixed bug in Crystal Maiden bot that was preventing her from using Freezing Field.
Fixed bug where bots would tank Roshan until they died.

Not that I dislike Death Prophet but she's one of the more boring int casters in DOTA.

I hope we get 2-3 more interesting heroes before Christmas.

Holy fuck. I found a Dota 2 Invite Key plastic card on the ground of the lobby in the building where I work. It was all scuffed up, but I nabbed it anyway. Figuring I might as well give it a try, I put in the code in Steam, and lo and behold, I'm now in Dota 2 Beta! Talk about a nice stroke of luck!

All my issues with the game are UI related. Heroes are secondary in my wants.

Holy shit. What they say about Dota-type game communities may be true?

First thing I do is ask chat, "First time playing a Dota game. What's a good hero to start with?"

Replies:

"Good luck getting into a game."
"Hope you don't crash!"
"Go play LOL"
"Don't play DoTA 2 noob"
"Game is still in beta, don't play it"

then a fight erupts about whether or not DoTA 2 will be released to the public or not before the end of the year.

I think I'll try this again on the weekend...

I haven't played, but just saw the new Radiant loss animation, very cool!

Can't wait to give Death Prophet a try, I remember playing Defiler once in HoN and did okay with her.

Go on a team with all people using mics and people will threat you with respect. 90% of people are gutless wonders behind a keyboard and dont have the balls to start fights over a mic.
