creeps move, they dont stand still all the time
That's not what he's asking.

The answer is: don't use the stop button. Use the hold button. I think that might be your problem.

Although I turned autoattack off because it caused one too many deaths when my hero decided to stop running away and turn around randomly and autoattack the enemies chasing me. Ever since I turned it off? Much better.

What I'm talking about doesn't work without auto attack being on. If you attack a creep and press S repeatedly, you will delay the animation which can be used for last hitting.

The problem is that the target gets changed for an unknown reason, even when the creep is stationary.

Yeah I've noticed this too, it changes to whatever creep is closest to you.

Yes, I know that. What I said regarding autoattack being turned off was unrelated to your problem. An addendum to my post. Nothing more.

Like I said! I think the problem might be that you're using the stop key instead of the hold key. But I don't know for sure. I used to do things like that but the advantages to turning autoattack off far outweigh the disadvantages, so I haven't been doing that for a week now.

Even that doesn't seem to always be true, as when I still did it that way, I had it change AWAY from the closest creep from time to time.

That seems pretty wierd, do you have attack move on automaticly when you just move normally? Like, did you turn on that you can just right-click your own creeps to deny so you don't have to press A first? If that's the case, that's the problem.

Nope.

I've tried Axe, Viper, Sniper, Tinker and Lich. Of these, the only one that I did good (16/2/12) was Lich. It's Plague Rider from HoN, lots of fun!.

Maybe Axe is still a good option for newbies, and Viper was also easy (only two skills). Sniper seemed more difficult since you get focused a lot and you have to farm a lot to be effective.

At least now I know it was not entirely my fault that I could not farm enough creeps, I was trying to use S but something was amiss. Still, I need to practice my last hitting, or I will have to pick supports (as always). I definitively need to buy some wards and place them, as I loved them in LoL , and here you seem much easier to be ganked. But I run out of slots at level 4-5! I will need to read some guides about items as well.

Then I don't know what the problem is, because it shouldn't attack creeps if it's on move command :(
At first I thought it might be me accidentally clicking on the minimap (which I still actually do, but that's a separate problem entirely). I've become conscious of that action, though, so that I actually know the difference between the two. I don't know what it is. The problem went away once I disabled autoattack. That's all I know.

Also if you don't turn autoattack off, and you're just standing in the jungle, waiting for a gank, autoattack might kick in if a creep wanders too close. Then your position is given away. It's horrible.

HoN's hold key would actually disable all autoattack until you actually performed another action. That, I liked. It's one of the few things I like more about HoN.

It happens a lot more with ranged heroes. Only solution I've found is to right click on the desired target(when low enough to kill) while delaying the animation, it adds one more rep than I would like but I guess I'll have to get used to it.

So does anybody have any tips for playing Weaver? I never played him in Dota 1 and I'm having a lot of fun with him here. He's such a fantastic chaser, and has so much escape potential, but I feel absolutely useless when it comes to team fights.

-Cast swarm
-Shukuchi threw opponents
-Auto attack

When my team is ahead Its fantastic mopping up kills and getting loads of assists, yet when my teams falling behind or were evenly matched, most fights feel like a 4v5. The time lapse ability makes it seem like he would be a good initiator, yet even with a good chunk of defense items his health is so poor I normally see him get blasted away before all the stuns wear off.

Am I missing something? Or is this how he's supposed to play?

When I play Weaver, I usually excel at two things: cleanup, and wreaking havoc after the initiation. I don't use Time Lapse to initiate. I use it to get the fuck out when I'm in trouble.

Whether or not that's good, I don't know. I know I don't get as many kills as other Weavers. I had a Fuck Yeah moment a couple days ago, though. I was chasing down a near-dead enemy, through the jungle, to the river (the top rune spot, specifically), and saw two other enemy heroes converging on me. I sukuchi'd in, killed the guy, and time lapsed back out, far enough away that they didn't know where I was anymore. Oh man it was rad. Thanks to sukuchi's speed boost, you can cover a lot of ground in five seconds.

Too bad that game was a 4v5 and we lost. But it felt so good. :3

I'm normally not too hot with carries.

skoochy skoochyyyy

Manta.

I've been having SO much fun as Weaver the last few games, oh my god.

Oh god I fucking hate Alch.

Most derpy ganking hero ever.

I've noticed something weird :

Let's suppose I've got a push stick (force staff I think it's called, not sure), if I double tap it to use it on myself like I usually do in HoN, there is always some kind of delay before I get pushed and I often end up canceling it because I right click somewhere right after double tapping it.

This is something that never happened to me before in HoN and it's a bit annoying. One of the friends with whom I play dota 2 has confirmed this too. I don't think it's lag related since everything else is fine ...

The double tap self cast is broken, if you do anything in between the taps it's cancelled because of the way action queuing works now

Patch isn't out yet.

Well first thing I did after this patch : disable auto update in my steam options.

Thanks, this is good to know.

Just had a great 4v5 with Dazzle (8/2/?) alongside Doom Bringer, Sand King and Shadow Fiend. Didn't expect to win the game at first but we managed to get a good momentum going (thanks to some really close team battles) and eventually Doom Bringer and Shadow Fiend got so fat that there was nothing they could do. Have to say that so far Dazzle feels much more powerful then Demented Shaman in HoN, seems like Shadow Wave has a greater range (or at least the "splash" damage has a greater radius) + damage than the DS equivalent. Really enjoying him regardless but I should probably be looking into learning a carry or at least something that's not a support.

Hoping to join a in-house game soon.

Well it seems the server I was playing on just decided to crash. It froze and kicked everyone and noone was able to reconnect ... of course this was right as the first big teamfight started after 20 minutes of farming ...

Ah beta joys! :D

I've also had tons of issues after the patch.

I've tried 4 matchmaking games, and they've all failed.

First two half the players didn't even connect, so we just had all of the remaining players push mid right away to end it. Second two times as soon as it gets to the hero connect screen, it says "connection problem" in the corner, and then I get disconnected. :(

Maybe there will be another update tomorrow. They've had smaller Friday patches for the past two weeks too.

Yikes, there seems to be lots of reports of this tonight. I haven't played since today's update hit, I played a game before the update though and matchmaking seemed okay (except that it took a while because so few people are in beta). Hopefully this is ironed out by tomorrow, I imagine I will be playing a lot then.

does anyone from gaf actually play dota? so hard to find a game in the gaf channel and make some dota buddies :(

The lag has been unbearable post patch. I disconnected around 6 times my last game.

Were you the SK that was complaining about Drow Ranger trolling on purpose? I watched that game :D (whoever was playing SK's name was Archie)

Just had my first game with Enchantress. She seems pretty good, although I didn't really make use of her ability to control creeps.

I also noticed she imitates a sheep when you buy the Scythe of Vyse/Sheep Stick.

EDIT: Also, does anyone know how to open up the stash? I got griefed by an arrogant Viper player on my team who decided to steal my scroll while it was in the fountain and stashed it.

It's not shown in the control menu so I figure someone must know.

Hmm, seems I can't invite friends to a practise lobby. It even says you can invite friends to a private game but it doesn't seem to be working.

It does not work, but if it's a private game you have probably created the practice game with a password. Tell your friends to type that password in the Play-Practice tab as well, and your game will magically appear at their UI!

It's weird, but that's how it works at the moment.
