Are you guys serious in recommending Drow to someone new to the game? A squishy carry with no escape skills and no farming abilities that relies entirely on last hitting and positioning, and on top of that her animation is a little tricky to get used to. Yeah, she has simple skills, but playing her well is super hard, I haven't seen anyone really succeed with her in Dota2 yet.

Yes. Granted, I wasn't thinking right at the time.

Played a couple games as Lich and Crystal Maiden- really enjoyed it. Thanks for the recommendations, gonna keep going with these two until I get the hang of it and move on to more heroes. I should be popping around the Neogaf channel every now and then.

Thanks, is there a downside? For example if you get hit when you have 10 hps can you backtrack it anyway?
The healing occurs before the damage actually, so you would have to deal damage greater than his maximum hp (such as with Axe's ult, although I'm not sure if that carried over to DOTA 2).

However, an interesting side effect of this is that when Void is at full HP, even if Backtrack triggers, it will not prevent any damage, since Void takes the damage after he heals.

reminds me of when people recommend Vengeful Spirit, lol.

Alright I'm probably going to get hate for this, and it really doesn't even matter considering the genre isn't really about graphics. Still while the game looks great, and I love the ambiance. Water looks sooo much better, textures are good, cool extras like the butterflies and the awesome sound effects are extremely immersive.

This all being said the graphics sort of bother me with how washed out everything looks. I don't mind stylized graphics or anything, but I sort of hate this washed out look many companies are employing these days.

Maybe give Broodmother a try? Generally the strategy is to put webs in an area you're roaming around (ability you should enable at level 1 would be webs). Use her Q ability to last hit, getting you spiderlings. You can use those spiderlings to help you push lanes, and also do last hitting/autoattacking on creeps. Just don't hit Heroes with the spiderlings unless you actually are following up on them and think you can kill them, since that would be feeding.

When playing as Broodmother, I have managed to make the final push on towers with myself and my spiderlings, without creeps, plenty of times.

It's intended to make the really important stuff stand out.

Also, Maelk (ex MYM) is doing an AMA on reddit: http://it.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/mtb06/ama_maelk_former_captain_of_the_mymteam_all/

Personally I like to play Broodmother in the jungle, ganking is really easy especially if you place your spiderlings right, and with the increased speed in webs and slow on hit you're guaranteed atleast one kill. Two if your solo lane has a disable.

Hey Icefrog, nerf Furion. Thanks

Wouldn't be surprised if he gets some changes eventually, so easy to dominate pub games with him and you see how strong he is at the pro level. Grab a quick Midas then rush Aga. and your ult gets you like 400 gold each time :lol

My GPM with him in the past three games have been 500, 510, and 680.

Spamming that ult is really detrimental to your team, it constantly pushes your lanes and gives the enemy team free gold and experience without fear of ganks because they are so close to their towers. It also denies the rest of your team 1 wave of gold because with Agha the last 5 bounces are enough to clear an entire creep wave. So what happens is ( if your facing a decent team ), you get a super farmed Furion, with an under-farmed team, facing an equally farmed team.

The guy really is poor at commentating period. Did he just do one take and call it a day? Also, take a close look at his skill build.

Been trying Chen in practice, I think I may have a decent idea of how to play him, but I just don't know, I'll have to try a few real games.

How to play Chen:
1) Purchase and install SC2
2) Get to Gold with Protoss
3) Go back to DOTA2
4) Win!

Oh shit is that going to be this week?

Go HoNGAF + Milkman!

Ganking as chen is all about luck. No Goblin Warlocks? No Centaur warchiefs? Good luck ganking anything.

Never underestimate throwcarbine.

BIG ULTS FROM CHAIRHUNTER.

AGAIN.

Wait for 0:30, get a centaur, help the carry get first blood npnp

edit: Congrats on the win!

Maybe you should play support or something so the stream is actually entertaining.

are you saying a spectre can out-regen a good wr in early game?
No, but it was pretty obvious 5 minutes in that the other team was not really a thread at all, wich is why pro was like "i dun care yo".

edit: i am not implying that the wr on that game was good or bad as i stopped watching after a while

Not really, but with my early level advantage, the wr not being amazing, my fast vanguard, and our keeping the wr away from the lane most of the time, I had enough time to get the regen I needed.

Oh, my... Juggernaut is awesome. Does he have any real weaknesses?

Hes good early game.

I was watching a moonmeander stream and he seems to run Swiftblade
(Juggernaut)
, Max out Q, then go for stats, get ulti when available.

Phase Boots or Power Treads
Vladmirs Offering
Battlefury
Sange and Yasha

As core

Then run either

Butterfly
Black King Bar
Monkey King Bar

as Situational

Oh my goodness. This game is so hard compared to LoL. What the heck? Any tips or anything of the sort?

Don't die? :) Feeding in this is harsher as you lose gold aswell.

My advice is play practice mode against bots, the in game suggested items are pretty spot on most of the time. With alot of melee heroes i suggest taking a Hachet, especially if your a lagger like me. (250 to 430 ping here)

Watch some matches in game and pick up some item builds and playstyles.

Any other useful tips. I'm very used to LoL and it's hard to transition as a result.
