She's a pusher/carry (in the same way Necrolyte is a carry by building tanky items and surviving while the ultimate/aura is running)

Pretty sure DP is not actually support.

Oh, whoops, for some reason I thought she was labeled support on the hero select screen. I must have remembered it wrong.

The thing that really hung me up with her is how you can't chase anyone with her for shit. Obviously this is why she's partly a ganker. The time it takes for her to stop with the ult was throwing me too, making me not really able to time it right to push down towers. I really want to give her another try though.

She's labeled as support but she clearly isn't. She doesn't support her team in any way beyond her silence.

She's super fast. You don't have a way to lock people down but you can pursue pretty well. Don't know how you can mess up her ult unless you die without the heal. It lasts forever.

I tried out Death Prophet in a GAF inhouse I was in today. My kill ratio was not so hot, even for a support (I think I was 1/9/5 or something like that). I gotta learn to not get myself in bad situations, especially when I think I can handle it, when I really can't.

She's not support, she's a pusher/semi carry.

If you get phase boots and her passive you go pretty fast, shouldn't have much trouble chasing.

So the only time I can do well as VS is against mouthbreathers.

Good to know.

What are some good early game items for Tidehunter. 2 str gauntlets, quelling blade, and healing items?

I'm not to sure about Quelling Blade. On one hand, Tidehunter shouldn't be trying for Last Hits, on the other hand, it is a pub game.

It's fine. Quelling blade isn't necessary for my new build since I am often the one stuck having to buy the courier every damn game. I like to get the shadow urn from the bracers and I am going for a more mana build for tide hunter since it ups my griefing capabilities around the blink dagger.

I tried using password 123, but the lobbies were still all apparently in progress, so no one could ever get a game started against bots or otherwise.

Aside from only showing 5 lobbies, why does the lobby search let you join games in progress without telling you ahead of time? All I want to do is kill bots with random people on the internet so I can learn champion controls. :(

*edit again* Game in progress shows up even when I haven't STARTED my own game in a new empty lobby, weird.

*edit* Second question, why does this game have the same stutters and voice sound loops as TF2? Is it an inescapable Source engine bug? Are there tips for making it run smoother? It seems to make my CPU and GPU hotter than most other games for some reason.

lol dont go by those in game descriptions. They have Pugna as support as well.

More questions:

Someone mentioned A-click to last hit. I tried holding A and left clicking, and that seems to make me move to attack a unit, but what's the advantage?

Also, someone said holding h or s should stop autoattacking. Is there any way to leave autoattacking enabled, but have some button I can press or hold to temporarily stop attacking? I tried holding a, h, and s and none of them made me stop.

How is that even a french accent :D she sounds more eastern european than anything ...

On topic, does anyone have any idea if there are any plans to improve response time in the game. There is definitely a small delay before a hero reacts to your commands, and I have been in some situations where it has been very annoying : dodging an arrow coming from fog for example ...

I bind attack to "T" so I call it T-clicking. Basically, it will make you attack the nearest creep/hero (ignoring siege units, except if no other target is in your vicinity). I use it a lot when I am harassing a hero (T-clicking it) then having to switch targets rapidly to score a creep kill, that way I just click on the ground, get the creep and go back to harass. Attack-moving is useful when chasing someone in the fog, that way your hero will attack as soon as he shows up again, as opposed to having to right click on the ground, right click the enemy hero, then right click on the ground again to chase him ...

Basically, whenever you attack-move, your hero will move to the point you clicked and will start attacking the first enemy unit that comes within his attack range/sight.

Concerning your second question, I feel HoN handles it better than Dota 2, you can bind a key that lets you do exactly what you described. I hope this makes it into dota 2 soon (that and option to have the map to the right side).

Pretty sure you wouldn't see it on a good HoN Valk either.

Pretty standard item on good valks before shieldbreaker first became - and rightfully so - popular.

My most played hero in the beta, 33-5 with him at the moment. I play him solo on the long lane when we have a trilane with one in woods. I just try to leech xp and farm some with rockets until I feel like I have enough to go and gank other lanes. This works pretty well in most of my games.

Clockwerk so good, but walls so clunky ... it makes me sad everytime I play him. I miss catching three people in pharaoh walls ... Circles > Squares.
My most played hero right now is Lich, 15-0 with him. Creepwave control is so good, effects aren't as apparent as getting killed three times in a row in a lane, but it rapes just as much!

In HoN pressing H (hold) meant that the hero wouldn't attack at all and stood still, in DOTA2 the hero just holds position and still attacks if there's something in range. Obviously melee heroes do not attack unless there's something in melee range, but ranged ones keep on firing anything in range. HoN system felt much better because now there's so much useless S/H mashing in order to stop useless attacks from happening.

So many angry and indignant Russians on tonight. You can go 9/3/21 on Spectre and still all they do is yell. Drow running through the river with like no health and picks up a lucky Haste rune to get away? "Retard"s flying everywhere.

Set auto-attack off in the options :o

I played a matchmaking match tonight and tried Tidehunter again. Did a hell of a lot better this time with 7/7/14. A guy playing Zeus on my team was the only one to do better than me. Still unfortunately we lost. Tidehunter is definitely staying in the "Heroes I'm comfortable with" list though.

Yeah.. I went 7/1/12 or something as Pudge once and yet that Earthshaker that I laned with would yell at me for every fucking missed hook. Dota is such a great game, but some of the people that play it can really ruin the whole experience for you. Even when I'm queuing with 2 or 3 friends, more often than not, the rest of my team will be annoying and/or incompetent. (or just leave the game)

QoP is pretty fun though, tried her against bots yesterday. Slow + Blink makes her great at chasing.

Well it took far less time than it did for HoN.
I'm now moving into strictly no playing without 3 friends minimum. I just cant take it anymore, its an insane waste of time taking the risk.

I'm glad I know lots of people playing dota2 otherwise I simply wouldn't play it.
The infamous HoNGAF phrase "fighting against my own team" comes to mind.

I'm quite impressed by TR right now, I thought eSahara played really well in the beginning so I didn't quite expect this...

they are playing very well as a team

thats the brood effect though its like spectre with no ulti to jump in at any time so the team has a lot of 4v5 fights

and this is why you ban omni

Dammit, was just about to say base racing was a supremely bad idea for the radiant with shadow shaman on the other team, and synd points it out immediately. Oh well, <3 synd.

Installed the game and spectated a couple matches so far. I have to say, this game looks amazing in motion. Animations are very fluid. Watching the streams doesn't do it justice.

Fixes one problem and causes others, it still feels like an inferior system compared to HoN's one even though I'm not even a decent player. Maybe I'll get used to it or it changes during beta.

Well, right now they are trying to imitate the way things were in WC3 as closely as possible. I'm sure they'll get around to adding more options for that sort of thing as time goes on (and enough people want it).

Knowing that NaVi will be playing next it makes it hard to boot the game myself, haven't got anything done since they started streaming today.

TR such a bm team, pausing at terrible moments, GGing as the winning team and calling the opponent a noob. :P
