I had wards. I went 10-0-4. They had given up and just hid in their base when I was about 7 kills in. I hadn't taken any last hits until they gave up. I bought it with extra gold I had. Then they started trying to fight me one on one in the bottom lane, got a couple kills and the rax, bought a crystalis for shiggles. 3 shot lina, pudge stole the kill.

Why would you ask for advice on items when the game isn't mattering then? You can get anything you want.
I'm laughing up a storm here, looking at a file called dotakeys.lst, it has an alternative key binding called "MMO Template", and it is basically the exact same thing I use. The main parts are the Map Camera Controles to WASD, and abilities changed to 1234.
In fact, there is 4 sets of key bindings, Classic, MMO, WASD, and ARROW

I may try Alt Number again, once they make it so that doesn't cause a bunch of map pings.

You push z, x, or c. My fingers rest on WAD, so its not like they have to go much farther.
But Valve even has it as one of their secondary default bindings!
One day, everyone will realise that WASD camera control is the superior method of control.
Free up some time to move the mouse around more precisely since you dont need to get edge push the screen to move around. You also have much better precise camera control too.

attack/hold = extra mouse buttons
Seriously people, try this shit. For such a fast paced and reaction orientated game, dota isnt an RTS anymore. Having the controls like this make things much much smoother and quicker to use.

Sort of a silly question since I've been playing quite a bit but still haven't figured this out: What's the logic behind shopping at the secret shops? If I send my courier there but have my hero selected while buying the item goes into my stash, if I've got courier selected it goes to him or the stash randomly, shopping with my hero the item goes into stash or iventory, recipes always go to stash etc. I would assume it's bugged or something, still quite odd. There's no guaranteed way to get the item into a specific inventory it seems like. Maybe it's an user error.

The shops have different items in them. There is a selection of items that can ONLY be bought in the secret shop, they have a little red S on the bottom of logo in the shop.
The outpost offers a smaller selection of items that are also sold in the main shop at the fountain.
Recipes can only be bought at base.
You have to have the person you want to buy on, next to the shop you want to buy the item from. Buy an item which isnt at the shop your at, or your not next to a shop and the item goes into your stash. Except Secret shop items, you must be at the secret shop to get those, with either you or the courier, you cant get them from anywhere.

Yeah I knew that SS has a different selection than other shops, but the problem is when I'm at the SS in any form (courier, hero) the item still seems to go randomly either in my inventory/stash. It's just frustrating when I'm trying to buy something there with my courier, then it ends up in my stash and the courier has to go back to base etc. I have to pay some more attention to this since I'm sure I'm simply doing something wrong.
Didn't know that about recipes though, that explains at least a part of it. Thanks!

Just tried this, I like it.
I was using:
m5 4 5
m4 6 7
But I only found m5 and m4 to be practical, even 4 was hard to hit on my "oh shit!" moments.
My T was for leveling up stats... At least now I can have one more "oh shit" item without having to switch my layout around. Set stats to A, which I only used for Tower Denying.
By the way, is it normal that Tangos on M5 automatically consume the tree your cursor's on?
It doesn't work if it's M4, so I have no clue why it happens, I find it quite useful tho.
Edit: Should try spacebar too. Currently unassigned, I think.

Thinking about swapping T and spacebar, but I quite like the rest. Gives me enough room for control groups for the time being. I have T and select hero, Y and donkey, X as assign skill, C and stats, V and shop, and B as glyph.
I've been smacking glyph by mistake here and there, so I may axe X as I don't need it (Ctrl + the key works just fine) and move glyph there or maybe z.
Camera feels a bit too close sometimes in the thick of it and I often forget to use my middle mouse click to move the camera. Besides the WASD idea, anyone come up with any other ways to work the camera?

Items from the secret shop definitely wont be going into your Stash, thats not possible.
If your buying an item from the outpost, maybe its going to you stash because your not close enough to the shop? Or your not buying an item thats at that shop. With the courier thing, make sure you have the correct one selected at the right shop you want to get the item. If the courier is at the right shop but you have yourself selected, youll be buying it from your character (itll go to stash) and not go onto the courier.
I use X for leveling up skills.

Farming all day in short lane with pulls, KSing, babysat leoric? You got at least 3 kills from me pushsticking you forward to help chase noobs and I was even tanking Rosh for you since you couldn't handle it. Get supported more. My puck was wrecking fools in the long lane with Haly, doing TP ganks because Sanjay needed 5 different people to scream at him in mumble to press R as nightstalker before he finally does it 30 minutes into the game. Meteorain's unhealthy obsession with picking Drow and taking the piss in the jungle by himself for 30 minutes to only farm a shadow blade didn't help the team any too.
