Need to see the cast time for Earth Spirit. I'm assuming you'll being casting those rocks right before using abilties frequently.

This is in dota 1. The hero progress in dota 2 remains the same but balance changes should show up immediately/next week.

I may actually level the nuke early now lol. I love lvl 4 glimpse so much that I always maxed it early, regardless of what is optimal.

Well then, this explains why nothing made sense. This is why you don't check things on your phone on the go.

:/

I was hoping for more substantial buffs for CM, DP and Timbersaw. Stil, that's a nice changelog.

Not sure how I feel about Kaolin, but Nerif's ultimate sounds pretty crazy for twenty seconds cooldown.

Ignoring that one dreadful patch right after the last International, I am pretty impressed with how Icefrog focuses on subtle nerfs and pretty clever buffs to balance the game.

So is Legion Commander not coming out right now?

Wasn't expecting Kaolin or Nerif.

You can expect at least Legion Commander to be ported next week. Maybe even LC and Abbadon. They pretty much held back on porting new heroes they already knew were going to be changed a week or two into the future.

With Armlet being fixed on the Spirit Bear and Radiance getting a whopping 5 more damage over time I guess we could be seeing a return of Radiance LD?

Oh god, the new Necrolyte Scepter is great. The AA and Doom one are ridiculous.

Global Omniknight ult, Omniknight now carry support, must rush scepter/refresher.

Daw, Shadow Poison got nerfed. It was too good, but still.

Wonder if Scepter Silencer would be worth it. Would make it do 390 damage to every unit.

Early wards veno is on its way out, poison sting just too good now.

Suicide button on bloodstone too funny. Can see the rage as people activate it by mistake.

Gem can't be destroyed! Finally, been wanting them to do that since they upped the rebuy time to 10 minutes.

Wards stock reduced? Nooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Only shitty nerfs to Lifestealer and Gyro, wtf Icefraud?

10 seconds on Flak is a pretty big, small changes can have a big effect. TA fell off pretty hard when they bumped Refraction by 25 mana.

Without playing the update and seeing how everything is changed, it's pretty hard to comment on how things are going to be.

Open Wounds isn't a 1 point wonder anymore, which is good, and Gyro isn't really overpowered anyway, so... yay.

I'd take these over the kneejerk Morphling crippling that happened in 6.75.

Is wasnt just Morph. They crippled Naga and Lycan too. Though I wasnt that sad about Lycan tbh.

So...

parity with Dota 2 tonight? That'd be kind of a neat surprise and would explain the quiet update yesterday.

Doubt it, feels like big enough changes that they need to put it on test. Surprised they didn't release the test tonight and put it out tomorrow. Which makes me think we'll see a big update next week.

they still might test it tonight. Maybe get the bug fixes out of the way so people can test the parity changes today

It's also the anniversary of cosmetics this week! Which is why I'm kind of surprised at the light update

They could put it to test tonight, making today's main update the cosmetics items, and tomorrow's 6.78.

I think this will be the case as well, but I'm still gonna hold a slight hope that they are gonna implement them before then.

This is mostly a great patch and I love most things about it. I guess I will start with the iffy stuff.

*I play a Huskar a lot and I always wanted at least mini stun on the ulti. The Berserker Blood change and Burning Spear changes are interesting because it seems like they want you to put some levels in Spear so you can more quickly stack damage. Really have to play and get a feel for the hero to get an idea... I think IF removed him for a good reason.

Edit: Misread the Nyx and Ward changes so I am fine now. And now the more I read and theory craft the Huskar changes the more I like them.

Great patch is great.

*No Nyx changes (although you can argue Sentry, Gem and Dust changes affect him somewhat). Was really expecting him to get some nerfs considering how much of a scumbag hero this is. All the other top picks got nerfed, he got away scotch free.

- Mana Burn drain and damage decreased from 5x Int to 3.5/4/4.5/5x
- Mana Burn manacost rescaled from 130/120/110/100 to 100

In Dota he's known as Nerubian Assassin.

*Ward nerf was sort of unwarranted. They could've made it 1 stock but downed the cost to 100 as well so at 200 you get 2. Sucks on the supports though and this means less warding in pubs all around.
That's not what the Stock change for the Wards means.
It means that the shop at the start is gonna carry just one set of 2 wards instead of the usual 2, the price is the same for the same amount of wards.

Ward change is only going to effect competitve really, can't remember seeing both sets of wards getting bought all that often.

Oh lol again, totally misread that.

Edited my post, I guess I have no real problems with the patch thus far.

I was expecting a nerf on Doppelwalk on PL but the Dust movement bonus change is fucking godlike. All those Wind Walk heroes can now get bent.

Also Doom is now godly against LS. Doom disables Feast and the Agh.upgrade means LS is fucked trying to fight him up close.

I am surprised how...insignificant some of the hero changes are. A lot of minor changes is not a bad thing though.

Makes sense though when you take a step back. With TI3 on the horizon, doing significant changes to a lot of the heroes would cause a lot of confusion amongst the teams, especially if you nerf the "core" heroes you see a lot now.

In other news, is Batrider now the only hero with sub-par vision throughout the game? Most have 1800/800 right? I guess thats the price you pay for being one of the few remaining heroes with flying vision (Icefrog seemed to remove that for a lot of heroes).

Enchantress, along with Meepo, Slark and Luna (with Lunar Blessing), is one of the few heroes to have 1800 sight range at both day and night.

NS in the day has 1200, but that's compensated by 1800 vision at night.

This is typically how Icefrog handles it and I'm actually a fan of his more cautious approach. Even these minor changes (and some of the non hero specific changes certainly aren't minor- bottle and buyback nerfs in particular) will affect the competitive scene heavily.

Yep, this also means less wards in the first 7 - 10 min on the map

> More rotate and gank action on lanes

Spec is already seeing some play and that haunt buff isn't insubstantial. Considering the nerfs to other popular carries, (LS, PL, LD) I'd say she's actually on the rise now.

I would have liked Spectre to have a buff on her mana (not sure how btw)...160 for dagger and 150 Haunt on her mana pool is ridiculous. They're almost half her mana pool each.

There are times where I'm about to get ganked so I dagger out to tree's or whatever...I then Haunt counter-gank on someone on the map...I have to Dagger again but can't either because of CD or lack of mana at this point...and if I can I have to decide if it's worth the risk or not...hell sometimes I cant even afford the mana for a TP out even if I get the kill...lol

I've only managed to make the mana pool a non-issue using the Death Ball/Refresher Spectre build...because Refresher essentially allow you to use Dagger for farming purposes. Camp-to-camp daggers...or allowing me to take massive shortcuts enroute to lanes or jungles. Or if I rush Skadi this also solves the mana issue.

So, uh, how does that SK active work now?

If I am reading it right, you use it on an enemy, heal for upto 20% of their HP, their Max HP is lowered by 20%, and after the duration ends, their max HP goes back up, but they still have loss the 20%

If it is like that, could result in a ton of harass. Every 25 seconds, lose 1/5th of life for 30 mana.

Does not affect max HP. Drains 20% of their max temporarily then returns.

I'm gonna fuck up. All I know is:

This doesn't affect max hp, just temporarily drains then returns it.

Pretty much makes someone really squishy for 7 seconds. Could be an interesting alternate level 1 pickup for first blood attempts with certain setups.

Also a man fight winner, and good utility on someone that has gotten really tanky. You do lose the crit for the duration though, so it's really risk/reward.

Hype!!!

*TI3 Ticket*

Only part that is unhype right now is that it turns out August 8th is the closing date on my house I just bought. I think I'll have to go with my favorite married motto on this one.

"It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission."
