Not at all. The only similarities are the fact that there are 3 lanes, the object of the game is pretty much the same, and some spells in LoL are similar (read: nerfed) versions of famous Dota spells. It takes a lot of just playing to learn what all of the heroes and items do. Even if you can't play every hero well, you should know what they do, what items they will build, etc. Most people cannot play Meepo, but know what he does, and what items he is likely to get.
Probably the biggest piece of advice I can give you on the transition is this, and it's something very specific. Always carry Town Portal Scrolls (Everyone calls them "TPs"). Even Nature's Prophet should carry one. I know LoL has that built in TP home thing, but TPs let you go to any of your allied buildings, and are only interrupted by stuns or ministuns. This means that if you are about to die, and the enemy already used there stun, you should just TP out if you think you can't get away otherwise.
On that note, it always bothered me that only some of the default recommended builds have TPs in "Core Items" I remember when I first started playing and saw that, it gave me the impression that I shouldn't buy them on everyone. TPS ARE CORE ON EVERYONE!

Freakinchair recommended this one awhile back and I got it on sale for like $10. It's really good and has two surfaces in one, so you can just flip it over and choose your preference.
Regardless of what game does what better, you will find that many people switch from LoL to Dota 2.
Nobody switches from Dota 2 to LoL.

Wodota's thing was Armlet plays, Dotacinema's is Puck plays. I'm okay with that though, Puck plays are fun to watch.

Papa John's badly keeps trying to open in my neighborhood, but the location keeps opening, closing then moving and trying to reopen. Garbage chain can't compete against NYC local places, but watching them continuously fail has been amusing. Domino's only survives because it still delivers at 2 am and it isn't complete vomit inducing trash like papa john's.

Fell asleep before that RS match finished. Surprised they lost the second two games.
For some reason I put in/forgot to change rapiers to 3 or more for this one. Not sure how good that's looking with one in the books already just from day 1.
And apparently I had LGD.cn in first with VG second. Thought I had it the other way around, but it's pretty close either way so not too concerned.

I have a quick etiquette/strategy question. Is it okay to pull the jungle in your creeps line so that the lane goes back near your tower when your lane partner is constantly auto-attacking and pushing the lane while not understanding English? I had to do this in the last game because my lane partner was constantly auto-attacking (with Drow) and pushing the lane towards their tower all the time. The other team would simply attract all the creeps behind their tower. I tried to explain to him nicely to only last hit but I think he was speaking Italian.
He didn't complain and it worked nicely in the end and the rest of the team was quite good and we won but I was wondering if it's okay to do. I was kotl so I was trying to check on him in the lane while checking the creeps and the timer to pull at the right moment.
