All of my friends play LoL though. :(

EDIT: Also, are there still Dota 2 beta keys?

There are millions.

And they are bad friends.

It's going to be packaged with a courier, probably get added tonight or Thursday.

So how does this work, how do I get it.

Oh wait it's a raffle fuck that I'm not giving them money for a one in a bajillion chance to get a papa johns branded dota 2 courier.

suck my dick esports

Why Kunkka isn't picked more? One of the most fun heroes. I love killing a bunch of people with one crit.

Very farm dependent, doesn't scale very well, requires setup, poor lane presence.

because his skillshots tend to be difficult to land and require setup more often than not, and his passive is kind of gimmicky. You don't fight in a straight-forward way with Kunkka. Always looking for angles to get the splash to hit a maximum number of targets when it comes off of cooldown.

I'd be one thing if he had only 1 awkward skillshot, but to have 2 creates too much risk for the reward.

They play LoL for now. I have like 5/6 friends who played LoL for months and months as a tight knit group. Once they tried Dota 2 it caused 5 of them to switch and a 6th refused and now begrudgingly accepts Dota 2's superiority.

The only thing that holds people back from switching once they realise this is the superior game is the fact that they have real money invested and time too, so walking away from that is not easy especially if you have to invest more time re-learning an entirely new game.

Rattlesnake played kunkka the other night and had him 1v1 an LD in mid. LD got ruined. He got torrented a dozen times with no setup. They ended up losing that game but it was more a matter of itemization and strategic choices than it was kunkka.

from mid you can toss out torrents without being seen because of the hills/fog of war. it's pretty easy to hit a torrent on a hero that's just brainlessly farming because the animation for the torrent is fairly short (Kunkk's handwave) and it can be cast from a great distance. shit is hard to hit during a fight, which is the problem.

that's why Mouz picked up Sandking, NP and Shadow Demon. 3 heroes that provide some of the very best torrent setup in the game with burrow, sprout and disruption.

Bokr you're gonna let this shit slide?

i got nothin bro lycan is like 0-5 this month in competitive. he's an easily countered carry that doesn't scale insanely well, so his power comes from split pushing and being a cunt; I think everytime a team tries to play him as a 1 it's very risky. You have to deathball all their towers and win by 30 minutes or it gets harder and harder. Much safer and better if you can fit him as a 2.

edit: Dignitas played him as a 1 and paired him with TA, so ghost scepter + shit ton of disables = GG lycan useless in team fights.

At least you don't have to invest money since gameplay is actually free unlike in LoL.

??? Try to lane as a melee against him.
According to Singsing (which is probably the guy that played him the most in pro games) the hero is strong but situational and requires quite a bit of practice compared to other choices.

We still got lgd.int Lycan.

Where are those "Only for" avatars coming from?

Melee, range, what does it matter? You're going to get splashed anyway, so you might as well go ham on him. He has no escape and an unreliable stun. If you don't walk into the torrent you win.

The point is to either:

1) Get out of range whenever he has Tidebringer up, since he needs to farm, then he needs to use it up at some point.

2) Do more damage to him than he's doing to you.

And if he goes up against ranged he just rolls over and dies.

I have a quick etiquette/strategy question. Is it okay to pull the jungle in your creeps line so that the lane goes back near your tower when your lane partner is constantly auto-attacking and pushing the lane while not understanding English? I had to do this in the last game because my lane partner was constantly auto-attacking (with Drow) and pushing the lane towards their tower all the time. The other team would simply attract all the creeps behind their tower. I tried to explain to him nicely to only last hit but I think he was speaking Italian.

He didn't complain and it worked nicely in the end and the rest of the team was quite good and we won but I was wondering if it's okay to do. I was kotl so I was trying to check on him in the lane while checking the creeps and the timer to pull at the right moment.

Yes, and you should do it even when the lane is not pushing, as it denies huge amounts of farm and xp and allows you to get more while the carry gets solo xp. The added lane control is merely a side benefit. There are very few cases where you should not be pulling, mainly when it is unsafe for you to do so because the enemy is in the jungle, or when you should be killing and pushing instead of farming.. It's the carries responsibility to position himself safely and last hit under the tower if he has to. I actually find it easier to last hit under tower sometimes as there is less harass and the tower hits are easier to time than creep hits. Even if the carry is having difficulty getting last hits at first, him getting solo XP and you denying xp to the enemy laners means that by 10 minutes he should have a significant level advantage and should be able to eat them alive. Give him your salve if he's taking too much creep damage.

Sure it's nice to call out pulling and try not to pull when a catapult wave is coming and try to time your single pulls with your teams pushes, but in the meantime every point of xp and every gold you deny the enemy makes your team stronger later.

I'm not saying it isn't difficult, just saying that it can be and was done. Obviously it's ideal to have reliable, repeatable setups. I'm just sayin' he gets played in clowny games and it's not the worst thing ever.

By the way, how do you stop auto-attacking? Do you have to spam the "S" key? It is tiresome, is there an option to tick somewhere?

Wish Valve would update the compendium/store/give us hud etc. Almost feels like they are holding out until both qualifiers are done. Test client patch from last week is still not in real client either is it?

There is an option in the menu.

I don't think it's a problem, especially if you see that they are auto-attacking because they are clueless (not because they are trying to push a tower).

there is an option in the settings to turn off auto attacks. There's also a command that makes hold (H) stop your attacks too.

I think it's this:

alias stop_attacking "dota_player_units_auto_attack 0; dota_stop; bind h continue_attacking"
alias continue_attacking "dota_player_units_auto_attack 1; dota_stop; bind h stop_attacking"
bind h stop_attacking

I think this will make H toggle auto attacks on/off.

Edit: Yea that's it. Tapping H once will make you stop auto attacking, tapping again will return to normal.

Maybe they will put it out later tonight once all these tournaments finish.

Finally, FINALLY i "got" shadow demon. You absolutely require coordination, but oh man, after we got through a horrible laning phase, them went so well for us, me and jakiro just roaming the map constantly melting everything not named CK, so much fun, A++ would support again.

Where's the script to change the range indicator in-game? There are some heroes I want a certan range. Example: Necro's Aura, CK Rift, etc.

Like one that can change per character? Not sure about that but you can enable one at a custom range

dota_range_display 1200

replace 1200 with whatever range you want.

of course it can be done. I'm sure all of us hit random unassisted torrents in our games. The problem was...well I'm sure you watched that TPL5 match. In the actual fights, Kunkka missed 90% of his skillshots. Not that it's always that ugly, but the fact that it can be that ugly is part of the problem that keeps him out of competitive. Not sure why Mouz had so much trouble getting him setup for torrents and boats, but they didn't, so he couldn't find any rhythm at all. FATA looked absolutely lost out there.

I've played quite a bit of Kunkka and honestly think the hero is awesome. Here are the main issues with him:

1. He needs a solo lane but gets bodied by a lot of the popular solos. TA, Batrider, Dark Seer, Skywrath, QoP, Puck... All these heroes make your life miserable. If you can get paired against a Bounty Hunter or Lone Druid or Magnus then you can do just fine.
2. It's not that he's bad in trilanes -- he's awesome in trilanes. The issue with putting him in a trilane is that he's a terrible position 1 hero. He can't be your main source of physical damage because his passive is on a timer. His skillshots are really good (if difficult to land) so he needs those levels.
3. Level 7 is his magical level, imo. At this level, you can have 3 in tidebringer, 2 in torrent, and 2 in X. You now become self-sufficient and can guarantee your torrents.
4. At the end of the day, he is a melee hero with no gap closer who doesn't really like picking up a BKB because he needs his Shadowblade + Daedalus. A lot of your solo mids are highly mobile or pick up a blink dagger early to initiate and start fights. Kunkka can't initiate for you, he can only follow up. This is why QPad likes to pick up Faceless Void for initiation to go with Kunkka. This is also why he's a situational pick.

TL;DR awesome hero who needs a solo lane but cannot initiate for you. Loses to a lot of other popular solos.

welp the replays in TPL5 is buggy as hell

Lol, I only managed to get 4 views today. I'm jelly.

Speaking of QOP Succubus, I wonder how this even works. How many views do you need to level up each time? If you don't have enough views by the time the tournament is over, can you never level it all the way up?
