Wow, those item choices are truly amazing; I can't even choose a favorite. The Battle Fury Gyrocopter? The Spirit Breaker with no boots? The Maelstrom + Mask of Madness Keeper of the Light?

The Enchantress with no items after a 50 minute game must have been a disconnect... right?

I'm not going to say I would get it but BF actually is decent on gyro. The regen and damage all very much benefit him although the cleave doesn't. Basically it's used to combine a regen item and a damage item so you can stack it up on one item. Helps with his mana issues.

That type of thinking perpetuates bad ideas and choices though.
Gyro doesn't have mana issues, and you really don't need hp regen on a ranged hero, especially on one where a natural extension is life steal. It's definitely not even close to decent, but it's not absolutely awful in the absolute sense either. Dota is a game of making choices that are superior to the other choices.

edit: I mean, you shouldn't try to rationalize, but rather evaluate the item choices afterwards. It's completely fine to get a battle fury on gyro in a game if you don't know what to get when you're in the game, I'm not gonna give shit to anyone for making that choice in that case.

Yep it's cuz of the XBOX 11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111

Also holy shit Visage is popular in the east based off the TI3 qualifiers and Super League. Kinda shocked.

Shit, I didn't even know. Reading through the threads, it seems like it was a massive trainwreck. Plus, dat Francis video.

Hahahahaha.

I think Enchantress was a d/c. The fact that she was only level 8 is a good indicator. And fear not about the Spirit Breaker and Disruptor with no boots, for the Cristal Maiden on my team had 2 pairs of boots!

But seriously, KotL took the cake.

stop.

do not do it

this man is trying to stop you from reaching your full potential, don't listen to him.

gunnars are scientifically proven to increase your skillz or your money back, just read the description from woot: You upgrade your crowbar to a super-ultra zap beam teleporter laser. You upgrade your armor from a Cheap Shirt to Full Plate With Fuzzy Trim And Spikes. Why wouldn't you upgrade your eyes IRL? See? You can't answer. Because you know we're right.

+ they r stylishhh

I messed with the PFlax pack in a bot game, and the whole game itself felt a lot more stable and running better. Is that just my imagination or what?

Are there patch notes anywhere for this?

Pyrion announcer is bad and amusing for 10 minutes

thats 60$ per hour of entertainment

next.

driftwood hud is ok but the ropes dont look realistic

questionable

So, I started playing a week ago and like the game, but have yet to win a match. Every single MM game is abysmal. I've played CS for many years and never thought pugs could get worse than that... oh man. I know I'm doing decent for only playing a week, but I have lots of RTS experience. I'm level 1 still so I know that has something to do with who I'm being matched with.

Should I be searching a certain game mode? I do all pick US east because I'm trying to get used to the game on a hero I feel comfortable with.

if the game is not naturally intuitive (IE starcraft/wc3 experience)to you, expect 100-500 hours before you get good

Is there a way to queue up multiple replays? Or a command to just play through every downloaded replay? If not, there really should be.
You can download multiple replays at the same time. Just start dl, close the window and start d/ling a new one. You can't just onetouch download a series tho

Are the HUD previews working for anyone? When I hit preview nothing happens.
ingame might still be borked
some

Maybe I should have worded that differently. I have the replays downloaded I was just wondering if there was a way to get multiple replays to play back one after another.

how do you know you are doing decently?
you sound like you lack self awareness

levels dont really matter much

Not really what I was asking, I even stated I have RTS experience and currently play SC2. It's frustrating when it's 5 people though and 1 leaves 1/3 in and the rest are seemingly more clueless than I yet have 5 levels on me.

I'm asking are there certain match making search parameters that people who tend to know the game better use, or should I stick to playing with a group of people and forget MM solo?

Sold some cards and bought the Driftwood HUD.

Damn Dota. Bastion announcers and HUD purchase in one day. Plus some keys a while back.

I don't mind though. It's my second most played game and cost me nothing until now.

Fed up with the game for a while. I shouldn't have stopped playing for months now it seems I'm stuck in the very low tier with rude people. It wasn't like that when I left. People were playing smart. Some of them were jerk, sure but not this bad.

I mostly prefer to play supports and man some people are rude. I think I've lost the 10 last games I played. There is one game where one guy on our team DCed from the start and the other guys send me down in lane alone as Rubick when the other team is full. I stayed near the tower and got ganked again and again while the rest of the team was too busy farming according to them.

That other game I'm stuck with a rude Axe that doesn't like it I zap the creep waves when the towers at our base are overrun because that's stealing his precious kills. Then complains and tell the other to report me when I'm not joining his awesome 1 vs 4/5 team fights in the river while our 3 other heroes are dead.

And there was this game I was playing kotl where the people in the top lane kept yelling at me to TP to them to give them mana while I'm supposed to protect the carry in the bottom lane. I wonder how they play without keeper in the team... No matter what I did the people in the top lane would complain about mana while the carry would complain I'm not there to help him in the lane.

Holy shit. Bad streak.

I would say avoid All Pick, and I personally hate playing on weekends unless I'm in a group; just seems much worse than during the week. Playing with a group is definitely the way to go, but grinding, at the very least, will give you lots of exposure and help thicken your skin. It's mostly fucking awful, but you can learn a lot in the trench.

Your first step is to stop this kind of thinking so you can match up with better players. Focus on your own mistakes rather than other peoples' until you can confidently say you're a solid player. Otherwise you'll fall into the Dunnings Trap.

I think, after playing dota for around 50 hours (of human vs bot matches) now, I just had the first game where I think I did "decently".

Played as sven. Laned with a Razor. Early game was me AoE stunning the two bots and then us pouncing on them and killing them. Eventually got stronger and actually managed to buy a lot of items from the build (treads, bkb, leech helm etc.) Also kept dying to a minimum.

I must say this is getting more fun and fun by the game.

Still quite a few games away from human vs human matches though...
I had one game against bots before jumping online, just do it.I'm 70 wins, 60 losses with zero moba experience. You'll be fine, most people are very bad at the game and you will learn so much more so much quicker.

so how many games do you guys play a day? I find it really hard to play more than one game, the length and the similarity (yes each game plays out differently but not at the beginning) really stop me from committing another 50 minutes when its like 9pm already

Didn't they say they were going to add a shorter mode like League of Legends has?

2 usually, I'm only just warmed up after the first one. Depends on length though I guess.

It depends on how the games go, but I can do 3-6 ish, depending on time of course.

-em (easy mode) will be added eventually, it has more passive gold gain, more experience gain, and no gold loss on death.

2-3 usually, although I haven't played in about a week

The laning phase is the funnest part. Aim for 50+cs in 7 minutes = snowball city.
